Jack is a junior for the Bruins that is missing this season after tearing up a knee ligament in practice a couple weeks ago.
Coming in to the season he was 1 or 1A among the draft eligible LBs. Real fun player to watch that has all the speed and power you want out of a LB. Think Bobby Wagner when trying to draw up a comparison. He also has played a good amount of RB for the Bruins and some people think he could be a top 100 pick at that position if he focused solely on it.
A lot will depend on his knee rehab and physicals...he will likely be a top 20 pick next spring but he isn't a fit in every scheme. Some believe this is a poor decision on his end but I've seen enough of him to believe he can be a dangerous LB in the league.
Why pretend if it's not true.
And this is why college kids shouldn't get paid to play football.
Jaylon to me looks like the perfect linebacker in todays NFL. Fits every scheme
i would be shocked if he could get an insurance policy like that. Insurance policy against a career ending injury, sure. But not one against a 1 year injury that prevents him from going in the first round, how would you prove he would have gone in the first round otherwise?

WR and CB are also going to figure in the mix. NYG wanted a WR in the 3rd round last Spring and likely would've picked one ahead of OO.
Quote:
He has a $5 million insurance policy that pays off if he got injured and didn't go in the first round. Why would he not declare? He wins either way.

Mook, Silas Redd did the same thing and he collected when he was not drafted..

Browns CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu took out an insurance policy and just received over 3 million because he fell to the 7th round due to his severe knee injury.
So does Jack sit there at the end of the first round and pray a team doesn't take him?
Have you dug into potential UFA DEs yet?
At best it's now Athlete-Student. This will upset the NCAA a little.
What will Amukumara ask for? If its top tier money, I don;t think he;s worth it, he's a notch below.
Will Beatty return?
Will Cruz and Randle be here?
The season has to play out and we could see players develop, what if OO and Wynn end up being a terrific duo by year's end.

At DE especially we're poorer than we've been in many years.
If the talent isn't there for a DL, I would love to see them add a LB. Beason isn't going to last forever, Kennard is very solid, and J.T Thomas has been good, but if you can grab a game changing athlete there you do it, be it a MLB or OLB, Thomas and Kennard can always play MLB if they need too.
WR might be a need if Cruz doesn't show anything this year, and if Randle isn't re-signed. I like Sterling Shepard from Oklahoma as a possible slot option for this team, he has good hands, quick feet and finds ways to get open. Reminds me a little of steve smith, but with more toughness and an extra gear. Wonder where he goes in the draft.
You might be correct. A lot of it depends on Beatty and Schwartz's health.
If Cruz doesn't get better soon WR might be a huge priority with Randle unlikely to get a contract imo.
If I had to bet at this way-too-soon stage Id say the first three picks are DL, DL, and WR...maybe not in that order.
That being said, dropping out of college, where at least he had a modicum of structure, probably isn't going to do him any favors.
