1. Who will be this year's breakout stars?

Vladimir Tarasenko, Tyler Johnson and Victor Hedman catapulted into the "star" conversation with 2014-15 serving as their coming out party. Three early candidates to launch their career to another level this year are Valeri Nichushkin, Kevin Hayes and David Pastrnak. Nichushkin, 20, is flying under the radar a bit after an injury-riddled campaign of just eight games last year. He is 6-foot-4, he can skate, and he can pile up points no matter if he is on a line with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin or Jason Spezza. Hayes, 22, racked up 45 points in his rookie season with the Rangers but there is no shortage of opportunity to grab the scoring reins in New York. Pastrnak, just 19, turned heads with 27 points in 46 games last year, but could explode out of the game this fall on a line with a healthy David Krejci.

Wow. Imagine if Hayes really makes a huge leap. Im actually expecting him to disappoint a bit -- dont really know why though. I'd be really happy w/ 50 points from Hayes. Still view him as found money. Link - ( New Window )

Pastrnak might post a 60pt season as a 19 year old. He's really, really good.

Agree on Pastrnak

I watched a league in Foxborough, MA (where my daughter plays) it was a summer pro league and they had players from all over the MA area and it was free and fun to watch.

a few Rangers played.

But Bergeron played and Pastrnak filled in a couple times, he's a sick. he does things a 19 year old shouldn't be doing, of course this is different, but I was very impressed.

Also in this league were Kreider, Yandle, the Hayes brothers, Krug, Noah Hanifin (who will be awesome), Colin McDonald, Eichel, etc.

so cool seeing them in this setting.

Most games were like 10 - 8

anyway, looking forward to the start of the season.

I think he and Price are the top two, and only 2 other are really in the argument for being in their class -- Rask and Rinne (sure Im forgetting someone). When does he slide down to being a top 10 goalie, as opposed to top 2-3?

Holtby is legit (though I'm hoping we see some reversion from last season)

noting that the lineup is really infused with talent that will take the body. This physicality is replacing the Glass and Asham type shitty grit player. Only guy I disagree on is Nash -- he really isnt a hitter. Guys like Fast and Zucc add to the physicality by hitting guys and finishing checks, even if they are not big guys. That's in addition to guys like Kreider, Miller, and Stalberg, who have more traditional PF bodies.

sorry

Nash was clearly a Top 7 candidate for the Hart Trophy last season
Torrag : 10/7/2015 2:23 pm : link
Now if you want to project players and bump him down a notch I get that. But #41? That's a ridiculous placement. He's a Top 20 player at worst.
So there is a Russian goal scorer we can get

Vladimir Putin celebrated his 63rd birthday with a party that most hockey fans can only dream of, hitting the ice with some of his best friends and NHL legends Pavel Bure and Slava Fetisov.

Putin proved to be the star of the game, putting in seven goals for his team against a group that featured Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, billionaire KHL chairman Gennady Timchenko and billionaire Dynamo Moscow president Arkady Rotenberg, according to The Associated Press.

The Russian leader and the NHL stars proved victorious in the nationally televised contest thanks to Putin’s offensive explosion, winning 15-10.

What a joke. 5'6 63 year old man is the star of a game with HOF players. This guy isnt all that different from the nuts in NK.

Reminds me of the scene in Narcos where Pablo's bodyguards were playing soccer with him - one of them accidently knocked Escobar over, and started begging him to spare his life

same exact player (Pacioretty) to score the first goal last year, also against Bernier. this one was a cheapie. hit Bernier in the shoulder and fluttered over just across the line.
