from contact injuries. There has to be a better way to protect them from soft tissue injuries although with all the "stuff" they take to lean out and muscle up maybe there isn't.
Just going by the transcript, Coughlin didn't seem that concerned today when asked about the LB situation (one assumes he knew about the Casillas injury).

Knowing the Giants luck, he got hurt walking out to practice..
it didn't take long for somebody to blame a trainer.
How many people think trainers are supposed to prevent injuries? Don't raise your hands or people are going to lose some fucking eyes. Trainers will probably get blamed for that too.
Spiller, Watkins, and Funchess have all had calf injuries, and those are only guys I've seen and not actively looked for.
No, but the Giants have led the league in injures 2 years in a row and anecdotally it looks like we are headed for a three-peat.
It's not fair to blame the trainers, but the chances of us leading the league in injuries so many years in a row of being just a statistical anomaly are not high.
Maybe it's the way we train, maybe it's the type of players we bring in, maybe it's something in the water.....I have no idea......but it's hard to believe it's just a coincidence that we are always the most injured team in the league.
RE: RE: what is up with player in the background on side right?
was a coincidence, but I'm pretty sure people who don't seem to understand what the trainers role should vehemently act like that's where blame should be placed.
It also could be a coincidence. The Eagles and Cowboys were in the top 10 healthy teams and this year both are about to be in the bottom.
I'm not saying there aren't contributing factors, but at least it would be helpful to question maybe the role of people responsible for stretching and conditioning and not an entity there to deal with the events after they occur.
It is like saying Chicago's inner city doctors suck just because people die frequently in the ER due to gunshots.

Obviously players on IR, like Berhe, would not appear on the weekly report.
Seeing more calf injuries, then you have to look at how much all this field turf is a factor. With some exceptions, most Nfl players are now playing and practicing on it nearly everyday. And running on rubber, while comfortably squishy at first, is not exactly something the human body is used to.

Field turf isn't a new thing. The players around the league have been practicing and playing on it for a few years now.
So a lousey 49er team is flying cross country to play, they have
their own injury problems along with very low confidence. Enter the Jints! The Jints will be just the thing the 49ers need, a win on the road! You can just see that playing out.
Suddenly we're in the midst of a fucking calf epidemic
Selvie is also calf (new this week), which is contributing to the hysteria. And a real problem if Ayers is still out with his (old fashioned) hamstring.
RE: RE: what is up with player in the background on side right?
without knowing what the injury is, I have no idea how anyone can blame the turf or strength and conditioning coaches.
He might have gotten kicked. That'll put you down no matter what you're playing on and no amount of stretching is going to help with a blow to the calf muscle.
This week's injury report lists 17 players with calf injuries.
He'll be here on the double, so long as Alonzo Jackson can take his shift at Bed Bath and Beyond.
Knowing the Giants luck, he got hurt walking out to practice..

Gotta be something funky with the turf or shoes, or something...it's crazy

ha!
We are 16th in total health at this point which puts us firmly in the middle of the pack.
Exaggeration doesn't help the debate.

So do you think leading the league in injury 2 years in a row was a coincidence?
One has an impact on conditioning, the other treats injuries after they occur.

so what you're saying...Strength & Conditiong coaches treat injuries and Athletic Trainers condition players?
And Skiba is the GM as well?
He purportedly bought them from Quinn....

For comparison, the report lists 39 knees, 36 ankles, 30 hamstrings, 22 feet/toes, 21 shoulders, 17 groins, 12 hips, 12 concussions, and 9 quads.
Those figures exclude San Diego and Pittsburgh, because MNF participants do not release their final report until Saturday.
Only causing problems...
