Very evenly matched. It's going to come down to a few key situations. Few teams can matchup vs our rotation but LA is one of them. Our pitching advantage would be tangible if this were a seven game series and one of DeGrom/Harvey/Thor/Matz pitched every game while Kershaw/Greinke could only take the mound 4 times.
Prediction: Murphy will end up the hero or the goat. He'll either hit in the clutch or meltdown in the field or on the basepaths. Flip a coin it could go either way.
If Kershaw and Greinke consistently pitch into the 8th and 9th, it's hard to see the Mets winning this series.
Conversely, that is exactly what we need from our young staff. Keep that bullpen (minus Familia and maybe Clip for a few outs) from factoring into this series.
is beatable and I know his playoff numbers but he's still the best pitcher in baseball and a scary guy to face. I see a few too many Mets fans over confident because of his playoff numbers. That said, beat his ass!
Im hoping the first inning we can scrape a run across before he settles in. If nothing else, we need Granderson, ect to work some really good long atbats. Make this sucker work as we did to the Nats in both sweeps.
ace on the mound too. DeGrom looked great his last two starts. Let's have Jake through some zeroes up there and let's run into a pitch or two. Mets can win this series if we lose tonight, but they'll have really taken the edge if they can find a way tonight.
Feeling was like. Waking up to a baseball playoff game. Amazing feeling.
I have grown more and more nervous as this week has progressed. I think we have more talent overall, but facing Kershaw and Greinke twice basically negates any advantage our lineup has over theres. Same goes for our starting pitching advantage.
Like everyone has said, I think every game is going to be close, save for Game 3 where we should have the huge pitching advantage. Praying we get the breaks and they dont.
but Kershaw's post-season rack record is a joke for someone who's supposed to be the best of his mini-era.
Clayton Kershaw is so good he struck out 301 people this year and no one gave a shit. 300+ Ks in 2015 is just a ridiculous accomplishment.
He's amazing. But he needs to step up and play his best in the biggest games for once. Otherwise he's going to go down as a choker, fair or not. Looking forward to the great pitching matchups in this series. But Kershaw's the most important player in the series imo.
boss is a big time Yankee fan who casually likes to crack jokes at the Mets expense. To see a parade in front of our office (his window would see every moment) would be absolutely incredible lol
We have a healthy Wright going against Kershaw. Huge difference maker having owned lefties his whole career. With Cuddyer's postseason success and history of owning lefties also I could see him playing a part. Let's hope.
God I hate Rollins...he's only got 13 HRs and I think half of them
we're still against the Mets. I hope we go up by 10 and then drill one right between the numbers on Rollins. Just because he's an irritating doosh, lol.
Not so easy hitting HRs when not in CBP, huh? He can take his underserved MVP award and ride off into the sunset.
may or may not have deserved MVP but he had an absolutely INCREDIBLE season in 2007. Really hard to argue against him winning in my book. 38 doubles, 20 triples, 30 homers, 41 steals, while playing GG defense.
Cory Vaughn, Adam Kolarek, Jeff Glenn, Julian Hilario, Ruben Reyes, Oswald Caraballo, Manuel Hilario, Branden Kaupe, William Fulmer, Zach Mathieu, Leon Canelon, Alvin Maracaro, Jose Figuera, and Anthony Chavez released.
have a better lineup, and a better bullpen. Question is can they win at least 1 against Kershaw and Greinke? They don't necessarily have to beat them personally, just outlast them and get into the bullpen the way the Yankees used to do against Pedro.

Okay, rant off. LGM!!!
In 53 games at Citifield, he is hitting .322 with 11 HRs with an OBP near .400.

The legend of Corey Ragsdale II (Branden Kaupe) is over?!? NO!!!!! Mathieu couldn't hit but with his size I thought they would see if he could pitch.
while naturally I want you guys to get swept and I'd love to be here to soak up your tears (then cause more), this series is exciting as shit. Sucks that it won't end until 1:00am though.
I think LA wins the series, but the postseason experience will be great for your young douchebags going forward.

The ONLY reason Rollins won the MVP was because of his stupid "we're the team to beat" quote at the begin his of the year. Baseball writers ate that shit up like it was the Babe calling his HR shot.
Rollins had a great year but he wasn't even the third best player in the NL. Matt Holliday should have won it. If you don't like the COL factor then David Wright or Prince Fielder should have won it.

we steal a run late and win
Just don't know who will win any of them.
Of course, having said that, tonight will likely be 7-2 Mets.

I hope we hang 10 on him
I don't think you guys will have much trouble striking out 10 times, partner.

Well, his meltdown last year vs STL was in LA.
That said - I'm not expecting much at all tonight, but hopefully they can take Greinke down tomorrow and win the series in NY.

I agree with this as a big concern. Hope Jake is on his A game tonight. Pumped!
