He actually didn't do much the last three weeks, but the bigger the stage, the better he seems to play.
I agree - he is the most dangerous offensive player in this series, and I think he gives the Mets one of their slight edges. A few others have the ability to go off (AGon, Puig, Wright, Duda) but I think YC is the guy who most looks forward to the spotlight.
He's a complete wild card at this point. He has the same wild swing that Ces has. That and Gonzalez are what scare me right now. And Rollins will probably hit 8 HRs this series, lol.
Never been in the postseason. Who knows who has an extra gear under the bright lights? Maybe it's somebody like TDA. Maybe it's Duda? A whole new animal for a lot of these guys.
RE: I know he hasn't played in a while but Puig scares me

I could see that fuck bag Utley coming off the bench late and hitting a garbage HR. Actually Turner scares me a lot too.

If Turner would end up being the guy to beat us that would be a real kick in the rear.
Granderson. So many streaky players this year.... TDA, Cespedes, Duda.... The player I'm most confident in working a terrific at bat and getting on base somehow is Grandy and I'm betting he's in the middle of the scoring should it happen.
Second would be Murphy. He lives for big clutch moments.
LOOGY with so many relievers with reverse spits. Clippard might be the best reliever against lefties in this era. Or at least one of them. If we have to get a tough lefty out, we have the ammunition.
none of you guys are one of the Met fans calling Francessa today. Is anyone else listening to these people embarrass us all with absurd complaints about Harvey and which game he is pitching etc?
but no one is paying me to make those decisions and I'm not calling the radio to bitch about it. The rotation is what it is now it's time to play ball.
Niese may actually rise from the dead in this series
He may be quite useful. Gonzalez is 0-9 against him, Utley 3-32, Rollins 12-54 but perhaps more interesting is would Terry be willing to use him in a big spot against a right handed batters? There are some on the Dodgers roster who have terrible numbers against him. Kendrick 1-7, Puig 1-8, Rugganio 3-17. One or more of all these individuals left and right might come up in a big spot late in a game. I'll be curious to see how Terry plays that.
Terry managing the bullpen and Murphy having a spasm...
It has to be game 3. They needed to protect against the possibility of having deGom on short rest in game 4. If that happened and Harvey went game 2 and only pitched once in the series who would pitch game 5? Matz? Noah would only be on 2 days rest and couldn't do it in that scenario. So if Matz faltered in that game 5 you would not have deGrom, Harvey, or Thor out of the pen early in the game. You'd have to go to either Colon or Niese with your season on the line.
In the scenario they're going with it has the potential to be deGrom/Thor/Harvey/deGrom/Thor (on full rest for game 5). They didn't have much choice with Harvey only being able to pitch once in the series.
Genius! It's that easy! What happens if you lose Game 1? Well you're pitching a very inexperienced young man in game 2...on the road...in the biggest game of the season. Some would say a must win situation. I would. I'm now done with this conversation.
I hope we sweep them and win by 10 runs every game. Let's Go Mets!
It's nice to have the best player in the series wearing our unis. Go Cespedes!

Thats why we play the games. Playoff baseball is as unpredictable as NHL playoffs.
What are the vegas odds on this series?

thank you. Now why is this so difficult to understand for so many people? And why do people mind Harvey going in game 3 at all?
game 3 is the only option for reasons other posters have stated. It allows us to bring back DeGrom on short rest in game 4 and use Thor in game 5 in full rest if necessary.
Harvey has already shown more balls than Strasburg did by even pitching in the playoffs. The plan is for him to pitch one game and have no limitations during that game. Regardless of how the series is going, Game 3 will be pivotal and we'll need Harvey for that game.
This should clue you in to the fact that there were other viable options. See the logic at work there? Now that the decision has been made it's full steam ahead.
I'm going to miss our SNY announcers. The national broadcast teams suck balls.

I heard he was activated for the NLDS.
Lol
Actually, the Braves play tomorrow.
Braves Game - ( New Window )

The Braves and Mets might score the same amount of runs tonight.
The x-factor for Dodgers is Seager. The kid is a legit talent.
But I'm getting the sense the Mets are going to destroy the Dodgers. Key is getting to Kershaw early. Get him thinking, "Here we go again."
Official: Steven Matz on roster. #mets
3-8 off Greinke
Here's to Kirk coming up with a moment as he did off Papelbon against Nats.
Niese was going to make it (as a reliever). I think the mild surprise is Colon AND Matz making it...

There were many people who were defiant that Niese wasn't going to make the post season roster (and shouldn't).
3-8 off Greinke
But does he have incriminating photos of Terry Collins?
Me, too. They only have 1 lefty in the pen, and he's a guy not used to relieving...

Nice of the Braves to schedule that scrimmage against the Gwinnett County LL all-stars. It's for the kids.
We actually have the opposite problem. It would be nice to have a guy that can come in and dominate a tough RIGHTY.

The pressure will be all on LA in Games 4 & 5, facing elimination.
I hope we sweep them and win by 10 runs every game. Let's Go Mets!
