I lived within walking distance to the HS. Brian Dehler was the man, won the Hansen, IIRC. Coach Fusaro looked the same there as when I graduated in 88. Thanks for posting, Milton.

NGT is not official BBI policy, only NFT. Sorry if you couldn't tell that it wasn't about the Giants, but that's not my problem, it's yours.

Yes, in fact it was Brian who posted this on his facebook page and that's how I came across it. He and I were good friends in grade school (Wenonah Elementary on Hudson Avenue) but we fell out of touch when my family moved to another part of the Sachem school district and I had very little contact with him during his playing days at Sachem since we didn't share any classes.

Here was the blurb that went with his post to Facebook....

To all the boys in the band Jerry Figgiani , Pete Velez, Michael Buttelman, John Matheis (Star), Don Little, Shawn McNamara, to those we learned from Vinny Lipponer, Joseph Mayo, John Allen, to those no longer with us (Bob (Diana DeMange Peck) and Jim), to our coaches Steve Tuttle, to the tradition that continues today David Falco...thanks for the memories!
Figgiani was the Brandon Jacobs of High School football. He could bench press well over 400lbs. And Shawn McNamara went on to be an All-American DL at Penn State (but he tore up his knee and never made it to the NFL). I remember playing tackle football with McNamara when we were like ten or eleven or twelve years old (something like that) and he was horribly uncoordinated, practically useless on the field (I was half his size and he still couldn't tackle me); but he didn't care, he wanted to play. Obviously his coordination caught up to his size by the time he reached high school.

(William Floyd) had a very long strong run in Suffolk County for football.

Funny, my best friend also went to Wenonah; I went to Cayuga. Coincidentally, our first house was on Hudson Ave, just a stone's throw from the Bavarian Inn. When I was 4, we moved to Arlington Road, right across Smith Road from the HS.
