have patient at bats and have to be picky. He's going to obviously throw strikes but MUST not be overly aggressive and help him keep his count low. The whole key is getting these guys out of the game. In other words we have to hit the exact opposite way we did in the 6 games leading up to the end of the year.

I know the weather messed with things but those last few games make me nervous about the bats vs Kershaw.

Agree they need to be patient. Hopefully (99% chance it doesn't happen) Kershaw has trouble locating his pitches early and makes a few mistakes

that he is hyped up and pitches like he does in the playoffs. Save a good playoff performance for some other team, some other year.

the most amped up we've ever seen deGrom was in the all-star game and he did pretty damn well with all that adrenaline I'd say.

I kind of like it when going against great pitchers that teams try an jump on them early before they have a chance to settle in.

earlier and Mike asked about being patient and trying to get Kershaw and Grienke out of the game. He had not even finished the question when Keith went nuts saying "NO NO NO" these guys don't "walk anybody". He said you go up there looking to jump a fastball and attack. Taking pitches is a way for these guys to get ahead of you and then you are dead meat.

That's Keith's take anyway.

knows a little bit more about hitting than me. The problem though is if you start hacking away, they also have the stuff to not let you make good contact even if you make any contact. So then we're hacking away early in counts and helping them keep their counts low enough to go deep in the game. We've even seen it against average pitchers.

Either way, what do I know? Just seemed to make sense to me. Just win.

Probably a valid one. But guys like Granderson have a knack for fighting off good pitches and working a walk anyway. However, players that aren't good at fighting back in an atbat probably do need to be aggressive.

First and foremost, LGM!

Secondly, I would've liked us to have done a little more there, but we made him work. That bullshit 2nd strike on Murphy was annoying and hopefully that's not a sign of things to come. Kershaw is already the best pitcher in baseball, he doesn't need gift calls.
