Early in the week, they said he was not going to play, but the 49ers ruled him as "doubtful" for the game.
Eric, Schwartz's NYP article mentioned Brooks was going to miss the game due to his sister's passing and this Inside Bay Area article seems to confirm that.
Kap throws a good ball to open receivers, not as well on timing patterns......I think Taylor is better pocket passer than Kap......
Taylor did not take advantage of runs, when he had the opportunity, Kap will.....
If not for a holding call, a chop block, poor play calling(there straight extended plays at the goal line), a double teamed fumble, a missed gimme fg, that game would have been a nail biter at the end......
These games scare me. The Giants seem to play best when faced with adversity. When the media begin predicting success they seem to go flat. I'm hoping they bring their A game despite not having a number of defensive players on the field due to injury. Also, hoping offense moves the ball down the field and scores early and often.
Considering that he's getting honored today, I wanted to share my personal favorite Osi moment.
In Super Bowl XLII, as the Patriots are marching down the field Tuck busts through the line and strips Brady. Osi immediately jumps on the ball and then some shoving goes on between the linemen. The camera closes in on Osi's face and you can clearly see him going "I got it, man. I got it" and shaking his head in obvious exhaustion.
If he doesn't get that ball, Patriots likely score some points and who knows how the game ends.

I don't know, but I agree with your analysis that this game is a lot like Buffalo. I don't expect us to generate much pass rush pressure, especially with Ayers, Selvie, and Kennard out. But the main focus has to be containing CK, and not letting him run. He can still hurt us with his arm, but is obviously discouraged as a passer right now. The best way for him to regain his confidence as a passer is to first have some positive running plays. We can't let that happen. On offense, we should run the ball. Their safeties are very good. Let's go Giants!
This year 49ers still playing 3-4 defense. Giants played Skins well, keeping Kerrigan and Trent Murphy in check.
Dorsey at RE will be outweighed by Flowers by 30-40 lbs., Williams is relatively small NT at 305 lbs but Dial at LE has good size at 318 lbs. 3-4 defense usually needs 2 edge rushers (see Broncos) but if Brooks is not playing, then only Aaron Lynch is the edge rusher. Bowman is coming back from tearing his ACL and MCL in 2014 although leading the team in tackles. 49ers traded for Gerald Hodges at LB and we may see him. Kenneth Acker at CB has been successfully Arik Armstead, #1 pick this year, is 3d string DE. (BTW Andrus Peat, who many on BBI wanted the Giants to pick has only played jumbo TE, like Bobby Hart, through prio 4 games but is starting at LT because of Armstead injury- makes Flowers selection looking even better). picked on in several games.
49ers run 48% and pass 52% but this statistic is skewed IMO because CK is 2d leading rusher. Carlos Hyde and CK have rushed for 80% of total run yardage. Reggie Bush missed games 2 and 3 but played last week- we may see lot of him, especially on pass plays. IMO DRC and Prince match up well with Anquan Bolden and Torrey Smith.
Vernon Davis is out. Spags may thus decide to play 8 in the box with Collins down low, like he did with Deon Grant.
Joe Staley is hurting at LT. 49ers OL is not strongest OL we will have faced. If Boone plays, interesting match-up with Hankins. CK has been sacked 14 times in prior 4 games with only 2 TDs.
Hopefully Wing will bottle up 49ers as he did to Bills.
QBs like Cutler and Cousins are leading miracle drives in the 4th. No lead is safe in the NFL today. Defense are just not stopping offenses in crunch time.
You just have to do the math and distinguish between going conservative and locking a game up by running out the clock. Unfortunately, for the Giants they were aggressive in the two games (Buff and Dallas) where they should have run time off the clock, and went conservative in the game (Atlanta) when they should have stayed aggressive.
But going forward, McAdoo is completely right about the need for the offense to keep attacking.
and the rest will take care of itself. Can't worry about next week yet. Play hard, physical, mistake free ball and we'll have a good chance. Turnovers are the great equalizer and so I don't think we'll take as many risks early on, but that's just my opinion.
Does anyone else prefer when the Giants play at night?
than most are making it not to be. Don't think 49'ers are as bad as many are saying or making them to be. Don't turn the ball over nor let Kap run wild is key imho.
RE: Does anyone else prefer when the Giants play at night?
not be easy. We never make these games easy. It will be a fight to the end. Just keep winning and let's be the team controlling our own destiny in December/January and not hoping for help!!

1. The Giants traditionally have had problems with QBs who can run. Even though this QB is struggling, I can see him picking up a lot of ugly first downs with his legs.
2. The Giants... in the past have been just what the doctor ordered for teams that have been ailing.
3. The Giants less than stellar record when playing in prime time games.
and we have seen that McAdoo and Spags have been aggressive, so I think this will be a relatively easy victory in the end, though the niners may hang tough for a while
I was just kidding. It seems like any time James Jones has another big game, someone has to bring up the fact that we should have never let him go. Just changin it up on the site. I hate the long wait to night games.
RE: Does anyone else prefer when the Giants play at night?
Dungy even predicting the Giants to win the NFC East! Hate it.......we've never prospered in that situation. Maybe it's time to start making a statement!
1st Place in View they come out and play 60
I felt last week was one of the best games
played in quite a while .
Niners could still be dangerous if we let them
Hurts with Kennard And Castillas out .
Like to see them get some damn pressure Moore
Hank Jenkins pound Krapernick .
Early in the week, they said he was not going to play, but the 49ers ruled him as "doubtful" for the game.

if we can't make their OL look bad they will give us a dogfight

Loved that guy and happy he's getting in today.

Myles White?
Brimly?
Kuhn?
has nothing to do with anything.....if that is even a sentence

No, the novelty has long worn off.

For me, it is just about being able to enjoy the earlier games and then have the Giants be the only game happening while they are playing
Huge game. If we want to make the playoffs, we cannot blow this game.
Eli to Beckham needs to be on tonight. Looking forward to multiple TDs by OD.

I feel that unease too, like we should win by a fair amount but it will be very difficult

3. The Giants less than stellar record when playing in prime time games.
Sshhhhh!!!
And your point is.....?
There are lots of ways a team like the Giants can lose a football game.
The 49ers can still run the ball and play defense. And their QB will is capable of a big game.

No, and I can't say it loud enough .... NO!!!
Let's go Giants!!
Worst that can happen is a 4 way tie for the Division lead! Just horrible division right now.
