defense is really undermanned. Casillas will be missed on special teams too.
That just sucks!
We need others to step up. Next man up tonight. Would like to see Hankins and Bromley start to get push on passing downs too. Moore also needs to earn his paycheck tonight!
be strongly inclined to play an extra safety as much as possible, instead of a third LB. Their OL is weak, so we might be able to generate pressure with just four or five. We're also probably more interested in containing CK than generating pressure. An extra safety could also help compensate if Hosley or McBride, or both, can't play. We're really banged up at corner.
Sure he was a terrible MLB but he never should've been a MLB anyway. He was an All American SLB in college and played well there last year. Plus that was Fewell's terrible defense. I'm sure Spags will be more suited to his skillset. As long as he doesn't have to cover someone he'll be fine. I think he'll have a strong game. In fact, don't be surprised if he leads the team in tackles tonight including a TFL or two.
but he can tackle, and plays the run pretty damn well. once he's 5 yards back in coverage though...look out. I'd rather see an extra safety on the field on those downs
Quite frankly, the way we cover TEs it won't matter who they have in there. We gave up like 100 yards to a slow-footed Witten, like 90 yards to a slow-footed Jacob Tamme and over 100 yards to Clay last week!
49ers Inactives: DeAndrew White, Mike Davis, Gerald Hodges, Ahmad Brooks, Ian Silberman, Mike Purcell, Vernon Davis. #SFvsNYG

Casillas' absence may hurt STs where he's been playing well.
Since Cunningham was probable and is inactive, Giants will be required to submit written explanation to NFL as to why.
Aren't those soft tissue injuries?! Thought they worked to reduce those?!

three players out with calf injuries...two with hamstrings.

Just bizarre. They really need to examine everything from practice surface to strength regimen.

Why? Even if he was completely healthy, he could have been inactive.
Giants Lineup Changes:
99 Jenkins for 91 Ayers Jr. at RDE
96 Bromley for 99 Jenkins at LDT
94 Herzlich for 59 Kennard at SLB

49ers Lineup Changes:

96 Lemonier for 55 Brooks at OLB
Even Kap will find where he is quickly...

It will seem like 10 guys out there even with him on the field, LOL
Actually Herz has played well against the run at the SLB position, he just can't cover anyone. That's where they'll look to get him singled up.
Spags needs to protect his LBs somehow...
amazing
Means Moore better step up and Owa better look better than last week.
