Newhouse

Please get rid of this guy. A charlie Brown type performance and almost got Eli killed Again.
Get rid of him for....who, exactly ?
Greg from LI : 10/12/2015 12:13 am : link
I dont think much of Newhouse either, but who are you replacing him with at this point?
He
Jon in NYC : 10/12/2015 12:14 am : link
was going against a very good player in Lynch.

Newhouse has been okay so far this year. He gets a pass for tonight.
Beatty will likely be at RT
JAG One : 10/12/2015 12:16 am : link
By game 8 or 9.
Sometimes you have to give credit to the other guy too
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/12/2015 12:16 am : link
But, he's not that good at all.
No sacks.
section125 : 10/12/2015 12:17 am : link
yes some pressures and the two penalties.

He's much better than Brown. Beatty will replace him when he comes back.
Hmmm 51 pass attempts
Tuckrule : 10/12/2015 12:18 am : link
No sacks. I think we can do worse than Newhouse. Sure he wasn't great but he had a tough assignment and he did ok. Last week Kerrigan this week lynch. Isn't easy.

I still think that Beatty goes back to LT and Flowers go to RT which will be the best OL unit configuration IMO.
He's not been good at all this year, but with them getting the ball
Devon : 10/12/2015 12:21 am : link
out as quickly as they have focused on doing, it hadn't shown up significantly, impact-wise, until tonight. At least in pass pro.

There's nothing they can do about it as this point though. They just have to hope Pugh is fine and Beatty comes back and can play a decent RT.
Marshall
DavidinBMNY : 10/12/2015 12:22 am : link
Had a bad game. He was simply playing against a very good player. Hopefully they can cover him up better next week. All in all he was over matched.

Sometimes the other player is better. Today Lynch was much better.

Tip your cap and enjoy the win.
Are you kidding me?
Jay on the Island : 10/12/2015 12:25 am : link
He had a bad game but he played better this season than we expected. He is an excellent backup OT who can start a few games if needed. So we should cut him and start who Hart?
Newhouse has played fairly well
bc4life : 10/12/2015 12:26 am : link
this year. Tonight seemed to be his worst game.
I don't know if he's been as bad as David Diehl was
widmerseyebrow : 10/12/2015 12:30 am : link
when we were trotting him out to start at tackle later in his career. That was Eli routinely getting decapitated. Newhouse has not been great, but we can work around him.
If Beatty can make it back
mfsd : 10/12/2015 12:32 am : link
then Newhouse sits...but he hasn't been nearly as bad as some make it out
Newhouse has been good this season
Rflairr : 10/12/2015 12:36 am : link
Some of you think the defensive player isn't supposed to ever get any pressure. He's not playing against a scrub. I don't think Eli was sacked at all tonight.

Newhouse has been a good pickup and has played his tail off.
Lynch
NJGiantFan84 : 10/12/2015 12:37 am : link
Is a beast. He did well enough against him considering. You cant just judge an OL by his bad plays. Both holding calls would have led to negative plays if he did not hold and just got beat. The holding gets us a down back.

The O line has been solid.
Not allowing sacks does not mean he's playing great
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/12/2015 12:38 am : link
He effectively killed 1 drive with a hold, and you can argue he almost killed another. It's also not just this one game anyone's reacting to.

It helps mask the impact of giving up pressures when Eli's the 4th fastest QB in the league as far as getting the ball out of his hands.
Newhouse
bc4life : 10/12/2015 12:38 am : link
Jerry and Hart - we're light years ahead of where we were last year re: backups

Flowers is our LT of the future and is already playing the spot. You have to try Beatty at RT.
Newhouse was good for 4 games but scary bad tonight
dpinzow : 10/12/2015 12:43 am : link
and I'm afraid of Philly lining Connor Barwin and Kendricks if he plays next week lining up on Newhouse's side and overloading us and disrupting Eli
Newhouse is a solid reserve
jcn56 : 10/12/2015 12:44 am : link
He's not supposed to be a starter, but hopefully Beatty gets back soon and that's not an issue. He was going against a very good player tonight and without a lot of help, and he struggled.
Beatty will get a fair crack at RT
widmerseyebrow : 10/12/2015 12:48 am : link
but having not lifted for months I would not count on him to be an immediate band aid. I think Beatty probably sits barring injury.
I will say this in defense of Newhouse
Greg from LI : 10/12/2015 1:42 am : link
That second hold call on him, man, I saw that one done to Michael Strahan approximately 7,588 times with no call.
I think one of those holds
SHO'NUFF : 10/12/2015 1:48 am : link
saved Eli's life...a good hold, if there was such a thing.

Beatty plays LOT and Flowers moves to ROT
Flowers ain't moving. The kid is already the 2nd best OL on the team
Victor in CT : 10/12/2015 6:35 am : link
after Pugh and is getting better every week while playing on 1 foot.

Newhouse isn't great but he hasn't been terrible either. Beatty will prob go to RT when he returns.
Newhouse
stretch234 : 10/12/2015 7:28 am : link
He has been OK. I look at something else with him. He is keeping his guy outside, and the interior OL play has allowed Eli to step up in the pocket to make throws

That was a challenge last year

How do you actually watch the game and think he is like C. Brown
How about Aaron Lynch though?
Curtis in VA : 10/12/2015 7:30 am : link
Dropping all the way until the 5th round? He has a great career ahead of him.

Have to give him props. And to Newhouse as well for giving his best. He's never going to be an All Pro and he had his hands full.

Actually, it been reported that Will B. resumed lifting a while back.
Is this really..

How about enjoying the win?
Ideally Beatty would be lt and Flower rt,
Ira : 10/12/2015 8:23 am : link
but it's asking too much of the kid to move to rt mid-season.
The team will want its best five OL on the field ...
Beer Man : 10/12/2015 9:30 am : link
If they feel Will B. is one of them, then Flowers may have to move to the right side, I'm not sure Will B. is a RT
I must have watched a different game

Giants win a game. A poster is so elated he sits at the keyboard and says; "Ah. How about I create a thread about how shitty Newhouse is"?

Just don't understand that kind of stuff.
Me either
AP in Halfmoon : 10/12/2015 9:55 am : link
He was very solid over all. Fans hear his called on 2 penalties and that means he sucks. How many times was Eli sacked last night on over 50 attempts?
Nobody's saying he should be retired
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/12/2015 9:57 am : link
but just because Eli wasn't sacked doesn't mean he played well outside of the 2 flags.

Eli wasn't actually sacked a lot last year. That doesn't mean JD Walton and John Jerry are good players.
Watched him a lot in the first half and Newhouse
Jimmy Googs : 10/12/2015 9:58 am : link
looks pretty bad in run blocking. He often just misses his assignment and it leads to short gains by our RBs, even when the play the is not to the right side.

Pass blocking he actually seems to be better at.

Agree. Plus don't forget that TC almost always puts his vet. starters back into their normal position when they heal.
I don't think there is a chance in Hell Beatty plays LT
Matt M. : 10/12/2015 12:32 pm : link
unless Flowers is hurt. The rookie is clearly their LT for the next decade and is playing well. Flowers is at least as good, right now, as Beatty was at his best and is getting better. If Beatty plays at all, it will be at RT.
I don't think this is true at all.
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/12/2015 12:35 pm : link
"Flowers is at least as good, right now, as Beatty was at his best."

That seems like selectively only remembering Beatty's bad years. Flowers is solid in the context of a rookie playing the position on a team without a better option. It's not like he's steamrolling guys out there.
Keep in mind the OP isn't the greatest talent evaluator
David in LA : 10/12/2015 12:36 pm : link
when he's on record defending to the death that Romo is a mere stat compiler. Newhouse is the weak link, but he's been better than expected, and he's definitely not Charles Brown bad.

I'm not remembering Beatty's bad years. There isn't even a lot of bad play from him. He is a pretty good LT. He was never an elite LT; he was solid with some great performances. Flowers is already a solid LT. It was not a knock on Beatty as much as a compliment to Flowers that he stepped right in as a rookie at LT and has held his own.

IRA, it was asking a lot of the kid to take double shifts at OLT all through the preseason. It was a lot to ask of the kid to step in and start at OLT at 21 years old.

I have no idea how the Giants will shake out the OL once Beatty returns. But a good guess would be Newhouse will ride pine. And if asked to move to the right side, Flowers will be fine. He's responded well to all that's been asked of him to date.

Beatty is okay at LT (sans the year where he watched You-Tube videos of pro bowlers to hone his skills), but I tend to agree with you that Flowers should stay put.

He took Hughes completely out of his game a week ago, and pissed him off so much that he lost his shit by the 4Q.

That makes Flowers kind of special in my view...
Beatty will be an immediate upgrade at RT

We just have to hope Newhouse doesn't get Eli killed before he is ready to suit up.
