NFL HQ comments on giants game - NFL network

dep026 : 10/12/2015 8:18 am
now usually I don't watch any of these shit shows, but this one may have been the worst I've ever seen. so they show the giants highlights and here's the commentating afterwards.

1. heath Evans biggest take away was dropped INTS. Admits he's still bitter from 2007 and mentions how the pats dropped 3 against Eli as well.
2. Terrell davis said the 49ers shoukd have taken a knee on first down to run the clock because the giants had only 1 TO left. when in fact they had 3. but regardless, he thinks it smart to give up a down when you need a score to win the game.
3. some Fabio douche talked about who was fantasy relevant. seriously? who gives a flying rats ass.
4. they showed eli's stats with 2 ints when he only had 1.

just absolutely disgraceful.

Jints in Carolina : 10/12/2015 8:55 am : link
are on television.
It's like they choose the biggest buffoons

that they can find.
Eh, on the other end, Prime Time after the game
GiantFilthy : 10/12/2015 9:24 am : link
tried to go TOO FAR in his praise for Eli by saying, "name one wide receiver or running back that played with Eli on the two Super Bowl teams. You can't do it! You can't name one!"

Bad argument to say Eli had scrubs around him those years.
I watched this too
TyreeHelmet : 10/12/2015 11:08 am : link
I couldn't believe how atrocious this was. After every TD the comments were about fantasy. Made some of the most idiotic statements i've ever heard. Can we no longer just review a very good game without mentioning some fantasy bullshit.

I don't think he was calling them scrubs. I think he was saying he didn't have any stars. The quote was something like, quickly without thinking about it, name one..."
I just tweeted this photo to NFLHQ (the name of the show on NFL Net)
Dave in Hoboken : 10/12/2015 11:12 am : link
and Heath Evans himself:

Will let you guys know if I get a response.
but I think he did say as well
eli4life : 10/12/2015 11:32 am : link
That like in 2011 he would make some bad decisions with his throws and get away with them (can't really argue that )but would come back with basically a dagger to the heart (not sure what he exactly said but the same meaning) and when he is playing like that he is extremely dangerous. Also I think it was TD who said come playoff time there are few qb's he would take over Eli
I refuse to watch

The football talk is beyond painful and I hate fantasy.
terrell davis...

still suffering from post concussions??

You give up a down, at goalline, when you need a TD to take the lead? LOL

You need a TD, not a FG idiot...............

Regardelss, he's wrong. Most fans of the game know Burress, Jacobs, Bradshaw, Toomer, Cruz, and Nicks.

It's subjective...As Giants fans we love those guys, but compared to their peers they weren't stars. When I think of stars and I believe what he was talking about to was players who are the top of the league at their position. For example, Brady doesn't just have a good TE, he has one of the best in the league if not all time. Jerry Rice wasn't just a good WR for SF, he was one of the best all time. Julio Jones isn't just a good WR, he is one of the best in the league as in top 5. OBJ is the first time Eli has had one of those guys. Tiki was the closest thing he had to that before, but they never won anything with him on the team.

Burress was a star receiver but not a HOF guy.
Like wise Cruz was on fire in 2011 and most people I think would easily recall his name.

Point taken though...
Last night's game should have been one of those celebratory events
djm : 10/12/2015 6:36 pm : link
For a living legendary NY athlete named Eli Manning. Local sports are focused on the mets which is fair but the national media just never gives this guy his due unless they absolutely have to. Last night was a special moment for Eli but you wouldn't know it by watching the national sports highlights. They praised Eli but didn't PRAISE Eli. If that was drew Brees or Brady or Rodgers they would have gone gaga for the entire show.

The national media will never give Eli his fair shake. They STILL bring up the 04 draft and how Eli handled things back then. Funny no mention of how elway handled things back in 83 or how Peyton told everyone he wouldn't play for the jets if they drafted him after his junior season and Peyton stayed on for his senior year even though he would have been first pick if he left early. Apparently Eli is the only collegiate athlete to use his power to dictate things.

I pray Eli shits all over the NFL one more time in January/February. Just one more run please. One more...

Burress was a star for us. For all he did for the Giants he was never an All Pro and never a Pro Bowl player. If he was top five at all, it was top five in the NFC, not the league. We really tend to overrate star Giants on BBI. Go look at how he compared to his peers when he was playing.
Let me put it another way
JOrthman : 10/12/2015 8:24 pm : link
While I wouldn't make the same argument Sanders did, here was his point...If Burress didn't play for the Giants, make the SB winning catch and then shoot his leg, would you know who he was? Most fans on any other team would not know who he is if it wasn't for the last two of those I just listed. Conversely, the following players everyone knows, but have never won a SB; Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Tony Gonzalez, etc...
