NFT: Homeland anyone?

Berrylish : 10/12/2015 11:37 am
so now the question is... Is Carrie really out of the CIA?
How has she not been fired yet?
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/12/2015 11:45 am : link
lol
good question
pjcas18 : 10/12/2015 11:46 am : link
Berry, and officially or not is probably relevant too.

I'm still not sure her real motivation for staying. Doesn't seem like she was entirely forthcoming.
no she was not.
Berrylish : 10/12/2015 11:57 am : link
She still irks me. I dislike her character so much. If it weren't for Saul and Quinn, I would not be watching. and that line from last week still gets me... Saul calling her stupid and naive-something which he has not considered her to be. And what was with Quinn writing her name down? Is she his next target?

yes, that's what I thought they were trying to hint at, Quinn got the code and that's what it said. should make for an interesting plot.

and I never liked her character from day 1 and I was surprised the CIA would give so much responsibility to someone so emotionally fragile. there is a lot of far fetched plot lines in the show, that angle always surprised me the most. I could see her being an agent, they're all probably quirky, but a station chief? they had her committed to an insane asylum.
and that code came from Saul?
Berrylish : 10/12/2015 12:23 pm : link
since he put Quinn up to assassinating that woman.
Not so sure
Bleedin Blue : 10/12/2015 12:35 pm : link
That code came. From Saul. They showed him going in, but what happened between Saul going there and when Quinn getting there?? Let's not forget that the CIA station chief wants Saul out instead of her, maybe she's involved??
it's also possible
santacruzom : 10/12/2015 2:19 pm : link
though not entirely plausible given his position, that in this case Saul was little more than the vehicle transporting the orders to Quinn. Perhaps he didn't actually know the contents of his package.
What I thought was ...
Mike From Brielle : 10/13/2015 10:41 am : link
written down was "MathisO" which yes that's very close to Carrie's name but in order to sanction a Kill I would hope you need more than that. Not to mention more information about the target. At the least it would be grounds for a request for clarification although Quinn was specifically set up so as to provide deniability.
it definitely said Matthison
UConn4523 : 10/13/2015 10:49 am : link
and i'm guessing the message was intercepted and replaced with such by whoever wants Carrie dead.

I really like the fresh take on the series. Not liking Carrie has never been a problem for me; who that watches the show likes her even from season 1?

Will be really cool to see her investigation into herself, essentially.

I think quinn just didn't finish the message on camera. He was transcribing the letters and when he was partially done, he realized what the name was. I'm sure the full message included the "N". They just didn't show it on camera.
Yeah, you saw Quinn's reaction, then he interrupted
jcn56 : 10/13/2015 11:27 am : link
the decoding of the name and drove off.

I'm just not sure why someone who wants her dead badly enough to insert her to the CIA kill chain couldn't just take her out on her own. Shit, Hezbollah threw a bag over her head in Berlin, they can't find and kill this woman on her own somewhere else?
The only way
Mike From Brielle : 10/13/2015 1:21 pm : link
Carrie could be subject to a sanction would be if someone (actually I would guess many people would have a hack on it) up the chain was satisfied that she was an active agent against U.S. interests and a real danger to U.S. major interest, strategic infrastructure, or people. As of the time when supposedly Carrie’s name was on the hit list there didn’t even appear to have been suggested any theory of the crime. The only thing they had was a picture of Carrie and the reporter in the same frame of a picture and one picture where they appear to be exchanging utterances. They work in the same building apparently directly for the same man. The leaked information already occurred and Carrie doesn’t have the IT skills to have performed the operation.

I like Carrie because she's so complicated and complex

Early on, not close with her parents, no steady boyfriend and then her lover is executed by the Iranians.

Quinn clearly has a thing for her. So, hard to believe he'll assassinate her.

Is her current boyfriend a plant of the CIA or German security? Just a hunch.

Is the head of During really what he seems to be? Why did Hank, the CIA agent Carrie met in the Beirut hotel bar, think that Saul and Carrie would infiltrate During? During suspected of money-laundering for terrorists?

Who tried to kill her in the refugee camp? What about the terrorist she met while her hands were tied and whose son she killed in Beirut?

Separate issue: is her name really on Quinn's list and if so, who put it there? Have no idea and that's why I'm watching next Sunday.

Overall so far, terrific scripts and acting, especially by Claire Danes IMO.

The only suspicion I have wrt.....
Mike From Brielle : 10/13/2015 3:54 pm : link
the Station Chief in that there was a major breach of security procedures because the secure network should have never been within a thousand miles (Saul’s words I believe) of the secret and top secret information. It should have been impossible for anyone to get to the Top Secret information from the public internet. There was a great deal of poetic license used in this portion of the story line. Even Pvt. Bradly Manning had to burn CD’s. This alone should have been enough reason by itself to get the station chief and everyone on her IT and security staff’s canned if not under investigation.

I can’t imagine the CIA agent Hank would bring up the matter of a Trojan horse operation if he really suspected something like that was going on if he did not need to confirm some suspicion for an operation he was working on; otherwise why would he need to know? There was a movie with George Clooney playing a CIA agent in the Middle East where he is betrayed by a character very similar to Hank. I wonder if the Homeland writers co-opted this story line.
Mike: Agreed as to the data breach

Berlin station chief and IT staff should have been re-called immediately even Germany had not demanded her removal
