NGT Steve Spurrier to retire immediately

superspynyg : 10/12/2015 9:35 pm
Unsure why. Might be medical reason. Saw on ESPN.
Beat me to

It!
He's 70 years old and retiring effective immediately.

That sounds like an illness may be in play.
Hope

he's OK. Best wishes to the old ball coach.

Suspect he's beaten down, tired and feels like it's time to get out and go golf for the rest of his life.
Never liked the guy.
Geomon : 10/12/2015 10:02 pm : link
But I hope it's nothing serious.
Wow
DavidinBMNY : 10/12/2015 10:44 pm : link
That's a surprise. Hope he is ok.

2 top coaches out in 2 days.
As other said likely illness to him or family member
steve in ky : 10/12/2015 10:47 pm : link
I hope I'm wrong and it is just burnout or something
Shocking to have him quit mid season.....
Dry Lightning : 10/12/2015 10:55 pm : link
Maybe there are health reasons. If not, a low character move.
Huh.
FStubbs : 10/12/2015 11:47 pm : link
I never would've guessed he was older than Coach Coughlin.
The original Chip Kelly

never liked him
He's been getting beaten in recruiting based on retirment rumors
njm : 10/13/2015 8:39 am : link
I think he's had enough and is giving South Carolina a chance to get a new coach in place right after season's end to minimize recruiting damage.
Word is..
FatMan in Charlotte : 10/13/2015 8:41 am : link
it isn't illness based but he sees the season going down the shitter and was planning to retire at the end of the season anyway.

Once they lost their starting QB, any chance for a decent year went kaput and the Old Ball Coach is waving goodbye.
Didn't picture him as a

He's always been a douche
BeerFridge : 10/13/2015 8:59 am : link
as long as it's not because of some health reason, good riddance.
This is not illnees
djstat : 10/13/2015 10:35 am : link
This legacy. His team is bad and they are going to get crushed. So he is abandoning ship. If its health then I hope he is ok...but I am willing to bet its his legacy
Disgraceful
djstat : 10/13/2015 10:36 am : link
Quitting on his team because of losing. All credibility lost. No hall of fame for a quitter
He might be doing this..
FatMan in Charlotte : 10/13/2015 10:39 am : link
to give a certain person an inside path to the job (and I have no idea who that person could be). That's just some speculation being talked about here.

Spurrier actually won a National Championship
BigBlueCane : 10/13/2015 12:17 pm : link
so he's automatically better then Kelly.
Spurrier was the one who coached up Dave Brown, right?
