Coming of a pretty impressive win, Giants banged up, at home Monday night (when we historically suck) coupled with the fact that we haven't beaten them in years.
-3.5 is actually giving the Giants a fair bit of credit, IMO.
Eagles get 3 points for home field advantage so they're saying that they're a 0.5 favorite on a neutral field.
That seems about right to me given the Giants' injuries and uncertainties there. Both teams are playing well right now but Eagles have the advantage at the moment.
they will b wearing their all black uniforms monday nite just like they did when they destroyed us last year. it will be a playoff atmosphere
the bad news for the Giants is it looks like they found their rhythm with the OLine and RBs last week. Murray/Matthews/Sproles have all given us problems.
Defensively, they are good at all positions. somebody has to block fletcher cox. Logan is an excellent NT. and walter thurmond already has 3 picks at SS.
as usual, we should beat this team like the rest of the NFL does. but who could be confident? the eagles have owned Tom Coughlin. If i was a betting man i'd be all over the eagles this week at that spread

I wouldn't say they are excellent at every position on defense. Their corner struggle, esp in the type of defense they try to employ (man to man, rather than zone).
The matchup I'm worried about is their DL versus our OL.
As far as their offense, they played the Saints who totally blow on defense. Bradford is still looking like the the QB who played for the Rams. Murray had a few runs, but if you watched closely he didn't have nearly the same explosion he had last year (does still have a hamstring possibly).
Half the team was out by the end of the 49ers game
so I get a lot of Eagles coverage and there games are always on. I don't know they've beating us in the past bad, but this season they look a like a bag of shit. Bradford still seems scared. That game against the Saints was more about the Saints being god awful then the Eagles being real good. It will be a tough game like it always is, but the Eagles are shit.
to play them differently than in the past. Clearly the strategy against the Eagles, hasn't been working. Going to have to have more speed on the field to cover Murray in the flat, Agholor, Matthews ,etc. Need to have a gameplan for their TE's. This could be a good matchup/game for Damontre Moore....have him get after Bradford...and in the backfield to disrupt.

Yep, even last week, with 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter it was 17-10 Eagles, and that was because of Brees turning it over on fumbles.
It's a division game, and they are always tough no matter who the opponent is.
I'm interested to see how this one is going to work out, Bradford is certainly nowhere near as mobile as the rest and he's playing with fear. If the Giants can field a team, should be able to tee off here and there.
was one of the worst offensive game plans I've ever seen. We immediately went away from what was working for us in the games leading up to that game - the short passing game. We stubbornly and inexplicably tried to run inside all game long. We played right into their hands. I hope the coaching staff will prepare something better than last year's game plan.
The shegals have Sproles and Celek, look for them t be the difference
that I would love to see the Giants just kick the crap out of someone, this is the game. The Giants have a chance to take this division by the throat the next 2 weeks, if only they can get healthy at WR and go over these guys.
Can play and I'll feel pretty good about this game. They don't all have to play but if we can field a manageable roster we can win this game. Philly isn't that good and the Giants are feeling good about themselves. They have some outs now...
in this game. They are type players the Jints just can not seem to defend against.
yeah spags will have to come up with situations where we don't have Kennard or Thomas or god forbid Herzlich trying to cover sproles 1 on 1. celek is a good tight end who can give us trouble but he is not a Witten or a Gates.

OK, they had a nice win against the Saints, who are a bad team, as well as a terrible team away from the Superdome. This time last week, the rumors were that Chip Kelly was going to jump ship and go back to college.
If they beat us, you can say they're playing well. Until then, it's just one game.
Seems like a hard game for a bettor to handicap this early.
Too much uncertainty on the injury front. I guess you could bet one way now, then hedge on Sunday or Monday if the "questionables" break against you.
Philly is in much better shape overall than the Giants, but they could lose a lot of explosiveness on both sides of the ball if Kendricks, Huff and Agholor are less than 100%.
The Giants have a troubling number of important players whose availability for Monday is in some degree of doubt: Randle, Pugh, Beason, Casillas, Kennard, Ayers, Selvie, and Cunningham. Technically, Cruz is on that list too. I think it's reasonable to hope that all but Cruz will play, though it might be inevitable that a couple others will either sit out or be severely limited.
As for the spread, 3.5 seems about right. Neither team has been overly impressive, so you would expect the home team to be a modest favorite.

The coaching staff in general seems to coach scared against the Eagles. Remember when they took a penalty on a third down where they had stopped the Eagles because they were afraid the Eagles would go for it? The defensive game plan last year was just as bad as the offensive game plan. It was to take the deep ball away with 2 deep safeties, the opposite of what had slowed the Eagles offense for most of the season up until that. It allowed McCoy to run and Foles to complete short passes. Even the last game of the year, they decided the Giants needed run the ball vs. passing to start the half which lead to a three and out deep in Giants territory and the punt was blocked.
- line is generous, to the Giants
- Cruz - I don't think it's reasonable to expect him back
- Sproles/Celek - agree - and it doesn't matter that Celek is no Witten, Giants have been unable to effectively cover TEs over the middle for many years now
-"...Bradford is certainly nowhere near as mobile as the rest and he's playing with fear."
- jcn, with respect to a good poster, this strikes me as a homer type of post--Giants DL, as presently configured, striking fear in Bradford, in any QB? Our d has a severe pass rush deficiency
- Vereen, Jennings, and Harris will loom large
to the TEs and RBs in this one. Intermediate to short range stuff as that is the weakest link on our Defense. We can probably play more man-to-man in this one with Bradford much less of a threat to run. If we can provide tighter coverage, it may be an opportunity for someone like Moore to have a big game rushing the passer.
With our current state of injuries, this line is probably spot on. We MUST get some defenders and OBJ on the field for this one. I think these guys will be doing everything they can to get on the field in this all important Divisional game on national TV.

The Eagles took the short pass away. That is why it looked that way.
Eagles noticed that in the 3 games leading up to that night, Eli was getting rid of the ball anywhere from 1.8 to 2.1 seconds according to the numbers. So what they did was bump the receivers at the line immediately in order to get him to pump fake at least one time and hold the ball.
Their theory was that the o-line, if matched up 1-on-1 with the Eagles defensive line 1-on-1, was not going to be able to hold up and they would be able to get consistent pressure.
The tape is gory, but look back at how many times Eli had to pump fake. With the receivers unable to get separation and the line failing, it became a bloodbath.
This is a game we should be able to physically pound them, but I don't think we are built that way to slow their pass rushers.
I am so tired of seeing the Giants lose to that team!
I'm not surprised to see the point favourite to be in favour of the Eagles. I just wish that the boys could change their fortune around during the Tom Coughlin era, since he's been the HC the Philadelphia team has been a thorn in his side. Hopefully with the return of Spags, the change will be made.
I hate the Philly team more than any other in pro sports, and I'm tired of their rabid fans shouting down about "owning the Giants".
Chip Kelly likes to make the D defend the width of the field. So, bubble screens and end runs. Both types of player run by the 49ers gave us trouble.
On D, they have 2 edge rushers in Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham. Aaron Lynch by himself gave us trouble.
On the other hand, the Eagles have no game-breaker at WR, the OGs are average and if Eli is given time, he'll find that the DBs are only OK. He picked on Acker of the 49ers with a lot of success. Wonder who the Acker of the Eagles is- Malcolm Jenkins? Byron Maxwell?

I think that was a Coughlin directive because he was worried about Williams blocking in pass pro. Don't think we will see that this week.
I think we have to treat the Reid Eagles differently than Kelly's Eagles.
Andy Reid certainly owned TC.
I don't think we have enough data to say that Chip Kelly "owns TC". They've only faced off 4 times. The first loss came in the midst of that 6 game skid to start the 2013 season, and last year we lost twice but the Giants were just flat out bad last season.
It was more worrisome back when Andy Reid's Eagles would beat the Giants even when the G-Men were playing good football going into it. But we come into this week on a 3-game winning streak and a little pep in our step. For some reason I just don't have that same bad feeling in the pit of my stomach I used to have every time we were about to square off with Andy Reid's squad. Right now I take our QB play over their QB play, and in today's NFL that is often a good predictor of the outcome. If Beckham can go I really like our chances on Monday.

yeah, and Casillas and the aforementioned OBJ and Randle. Those are all some important names for this game.

If those guys are playing....I think we absolutely cream The Eagles.
From what I understand we won't find anything out until Thirsday right?
Eagles have played well Sunday against a team who might be struggling the most in the league. Did they play well against Washington?
It really is a what have you done for me lately league.
Scroll down just a bit to see it

Yep, my exact concern.
I think we'll have trouble running it, and they will get a good push up the middle.
Have to have OBJ or we might be in for trouble

Sagarin: Eagles -2.3
Sonny Moore: Giants -1.99
Jeff Massey: Eagles -2.5
However, this doesn't account for the injuries to Beckham and Randle.
