You recall correctly. I grew up with jamie in Queens and played ball with him a lot. He and his mom rented one floor of my grandmother's two family in woodside, Queens for several years. He played on Lamar's high school team at Christ the king, and was Lamar's closest friend. He died this year from drug overuse, but not an overdose. Something to do with bacteria and needle use. A week later, their other close friend died, I believe from drugs but I'm not sure. Jamie was a great great guy with no prior drug problems before he moved to LA.

Lamar is still alive, but he is breathing with the assistance of machines and remains in critical condition ... according to sources close to the situation.

Lamar is still in a coma and his heart is failing ... our source says he is having serious problems with his kidneys and lungs as well. Khloe Kardashian is currently by his side.

I would guess on a 3 day bender at a bunny ranch he wasn't just using herbal viagra. Probably needed herbal viagra to try and counteract all the other stuff he was taking.

I hated the song, but every time I read something about the Kardashians I hear "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves".

That entire family is scummy to the core. If Odom recovers, I hope he kicks them to the curb for good.

Lamar Odom had cocaine in his system and track marks on one of his arms ... so claim witnesses at the hospital where Lamar lies unconscious.
The witnesses tell TMZ ... doctors have determined the former NBA star had cocaine and opiates in his system -- but it's still unclear if the track marks are fresh or from previous drug use.
We're told doctors have told people close to Lamar the fluid they found in his lungs was the result of crack cocaine use.
We're also told several of Lamar's party friends have come to the hospital to see him but they were turned away.
Sources at the Love Ranch where Lamar was staying have said he was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra but no drugs were found. Dennis Hof who owns the Ranch tells TMZ he can't swear Lamar wasn't doing drugs in his room.

Lamar remains unconscious and on a ventilator but is still alive. It also appears that the former Los Angeles Lakers player suffered from a "loss of oxygen but also possible stroke."
"So, likely there's brain damage, but they're not sure how much," the source adds. "Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system."

the stroke did not affect the Circle of willis. And he can recover. People have come back form multiple organ failure and been fine. Hopefully he is getting great care. A ventilator is in place probably to increase alveolar dilation and allow for better oxygen flow and decrease the bodies metabolic demands and allow for him to heal. Shame to lose life so young.

I dont know much about the Kardashians. But as a person in recovery, I took an interest in Lamar when the reports first came out and was hoping hed overcome the addiction.

From quotes by her, she seemed to have done everything possible to get him help and stay by his side. At some point it becomes too much and you need to cut ties for your own mental health. But that doesnt mean she is not genuine and deeply cares for him.

I dont know much about her outside of the quotes I read in articles about Lamar over the last few years. Maybe the show depicted it differently, but that was the feeling I got when all this stuff first came out.
