Seven Nation Army ....

Manny in CA : 10/13/2015 9:24 pm
That's what all the Bills stadium crowd was humming when we were there. Very electric atmosphere (just like Tom mentioned) ....

Nothing like being at a pro stadium !

Pretty cool. Didn't work out for them, but I like the bass line.
Welcome to 2003!

I love the bass guitar. Anybody here play ?
Manny in CA : 10/13/2015 9:50 pm : link
Always have (child of the 60s - solid white hair); so 2003 was yesterday for me.

Went to see Fleetwood Mac, a month ago. I always liked "The Chain"; very good bass line.

My son left a bass here, when he left for college. I break it out often, good fun.

Perfect song to play bass on, nice simple Em scale.
Not to nitpick...
Britt in VA : 10/13/2015 9:56 pm : link
but it's not actually a bass guitar you hear, believe it or not.

It's an old acoustic run through a Whammy, down an octave.

as far as we know.
If you ever watch him play it live....
Britt in VA : 10/13/2015 9:58 pm : link
he keeps a slide on his pinky, so he can go back and forth between the main riff and the slide parts.

He just uses the Whammy Pedal to move up and down an octave.
I read that, Mike ...

Works with bass, fine.
Check it out...

the last time anyone under the age of 40 has played a Scorpions song. Not that I don't enjoy some catchy German metal from time to time, but it's not exactly a regular on the playlist at the stadiums these days...

I don't think it was run through a Whammy. Whammy is a detuner. Pretty sure it's just an octave pedal.

But yeah, White Stripes don't have a bassist.
Dtune is only one feature of a Whammy pedal...
Britt in VA : 10/14/2015 9:52 am : link
it also has pitch shifting and octave up and down.

Jack definately used a Whammy II on this track. I am 100% certain.
I remember talking to a German..
FatMan in Charlotte : 10/14/2015 9:54 am : link
colleague once about music and he hates that the Scorpions are the German band almost every foreigner relates to them.

He said most Germans look at them as being decades past relevancy and shitty to boot.
Rammstein is the gold standard
