I was here when Eric ran a bulletin board off his work server in like 1996
I remember Joey's arrival on Letters to the Editor, coming out swinging. And it just occurred to me that given how many arguments Joey has gotten into over the years and how many arguments I've gotten into over the years, I can't recall any arguments that we've had with each other. Not a one. Which is kind of odd given both our personalities.
Don't remember my original username. Had to sign up for a new account. This place sure has changed. I can't even get on here during games anymore. Some people on here are fucking morons!
I found Eric's site back in the Olden Days. I think it was Sehorn's 2nd season, so that was around 1995 I reckon. It was thru a link on what used to be called Big Blue Home Page or something. BBI's Letters & Pete's Corner quickly surpassed the level on discussion on that old site.
Are there any Internet Sites for 1995 still in existence ?!?!?
Was around as a lurker long before. I finally decided to join when I was paired with a guy in a round of golf at Cedar Creek golf course who asked if I was registered. Always wondered who it was.
I was surfing the web for draft news when I found BBI.
I remember how excited I was when my "Letter to the Editor" was posted. That was before I realized that nobody here writes letters to the editor and the place for football discussion was in the forum (Pete's Corner).
resources have changed. I couldn't host anything on a work computer system nowadays. I remember in college you could just walk in and use a computer with no log on. Just wait for one to free up and sit down.
RE: I've been around a while...I wrote Eric a letter Â
Rarely post and just got around to reregistering. Went with a throwback name but i am not the original who is probably still in the 8th grade as he was 20 years ago.
Courtesy of the way back Machine Link - ( New Window )
Everyone needs to click on this link and then click on Pete's Corner. Lots of familiar names and some great posters that have moved on. I remember this ugly ass web page like it was yesterday!
The best time for me was when BBIers were going up to Albany for training camp. I went 3 times. Met some really good people, including especially the late Hope.
And, met some people that piss off others on the Net, but are fun to be with in person. Many of those aren't around any more.
My research was to see if this thing we call destiny or what physicists call superdeterminism was true or not.
From 2000-2012 I conducted an experiment at Temptdestiny.com for football fans from all 32 NFL teams to compete for their team by voting for them to be on the next Tempt Destiny billboard I create. Some of you here may have indeed taken part of this activity back in the day. Without getting into technical details by voting for your team fans helped me to confirm that reality is indeed superdeterministic which also revealed that the scientific method is fundamentally flawed. I kid you not.
Someone recently asked me if there are any other experiments like mine that accounted for the first cause variables of direct and indirect selection which are necessary to conduct any and all experiments. I had to answer, I don't know.
So here's the deal, I am giving away $1200 limited edition print sets to five individuals who did the most searches on the internet for the keyword phrases "direct selection" "indirect selection" by December 23, 2015. Before I get this out to the general public, I am making this "Search For First Cause" project known to football fans first. In fact, I have designated two print sets just for football fans as my way of saying thanks.
BTW - A BBI fan (BamaBish?) created the "autovote" script that got things going.
Been a regular lurker, seldom poster since 95-96 before it was BBI. Best fan based website on the Internet. Thank you Eric, from a fellow Binghamtonian.
Never posted much, but I thought I died and went to heaven when I found this site. There was actually intelligent football discussions going on, and I learned much about the game.
It's been fun watching the site grow and change. Thanks to Eric, Pete and the knowledgeable posters during the formative years.
I do remember hooking up my modem, dialing into AOL, and looking up the keyboard "bigblueinteractive" on the finder as soon as the "You've Got Mail" greeting came up.
was more annoying than the "Cheap jersey, good quality" dudes.
That Tempt Destiny shit was plastered on here like trent with Tourette's, but instead of asking the % of fans of one team at a game, it was constantly posting about voting for a stupid billboard.
I think someone named Adrienne (?) had a site and Eric was doing the game previews and reviews and then I migrated to Eric. Am I dreaming??
Jay, you are not dreaming - I remember that name, and I think it goes back before the www. My memory is that she ran a Usenet group that I used to access through Gopher. Hmm. Maybe I'm dreaming now.
that Eric has such a loyal fan base after all these years. Despite negative comments from a few of its members, I would also find it cool if a BBI member wound up winning one of the NY Giants Super Bowl Commemorative LE prints I am giving away.
As for those who do not have a clue as to the significance of the Tempt Destiny experiment findings, at the TemptDestiny.com home page you will find the Final Selection Thought Experiment for those who wish to contest the findings directly with the source. As you will find opinions, including my own, are irrelevant when it comes to Nature.
Someone recently ask if would be doing another billboard for the Giants? It appears BBI members will be happy to know that I will not be doing another billboard for the NY Giants as requested by the NY Giants ownership.
Without getting into technical details by voting for your team fans helped me to confirm that reality is indeed superdeterministic which also revealed that the scientific method is fundamentally flawed
of really flawed stuff about "science" on that site, but this was my favorite part!

NY GIANTS Respectfully Decline Billboard Gift
January 23, 2012: The NY Giants organization had respectfully declined the Tempt Destiny billboard gift and advised that their decision is final. Since the Giants organization has decline this gift of support from their fans, we did not create a Tempt Destiny billboard for the 2011 season.
Why would a "supposed" fan be so angry about other fans wanting to support their team by simply voting them? Why would you find fans acting as they choose offensive?
Why would a "supposed" fan be so angry about other fans wanting to support their team by simply voting them? Why would you find fans acting as they choose offensive?
Because you spammed the ever-living fuck out of this website. The anger was directed at you and your behavior.
Around 2000 I joined, dont really remember exactly Â
I'm angry all the time. Especially at fucking douchebags who litter the board with continual trash similar to the "vote for a banner" threads while the team is marching towards a Super Bowl.
And then to do it in the supposed name of science? Christ, that site is abhorrent in its logic. I only have a rudimentarey knowledge of science, but as an engineer, I know a lot about the process and the expiremental method and for somebody conducting a supposed experiment, that is simply a trainwreck.
RE: The anger was directed at you and your behavior. Â
@ FatMan in Charlotte
TDexperiment : 8:50 am : link : reply
Facinating! Are you saying that I personally pretended to be all of those here who wanted to vote for their team?
I'm saying you are an annoying fuckstick who continually posted threads asking fans to vote for a ridiculous banner. The fact that you did it intentionally and supposedly in the name of science is even shittier.
People probably voted hoping you'd go away and stay away. They were apparently sorely mistaken.
why would I vote like a mindless monkey because some twat tells me to?
Out of love of the team?
Fuck off.
Just because somebody is a fan of the team means they should vote for a stupid banner because a dude creates multiple threads a day asking to? Logic really isn't your strong suit which is bizarre for a supposed scientist.
Let's just say you "know" what you think you are talking about when it comes to logic and science. Would you like to prove that the findings you actually participated in are invalid? Do you have such integrity, yes or no?
RE: RE: The anger was directed at you and your behavior. Â
After the 3rd billboard I did in support of the NYG, I wanted to confirm with them that if their fans won another billboard for their team that they would accept this gift. I was assured this would be the case. So when Giants fans won another billboard for their team, the NYG organization quickly rejected their gift of support. When asked by a reporter why they did so, I suggested they ask the NY Giants themselves.
What began with the NY Giants has ended with the NY Giants. This is as it should be.
Would you like to prove that the findings you actually participated in are invalid? Do you have such integrity, yes or no?
The finding are invalid because of a myriad of errors. I won't even go into issues like sample sizes or verification of results (i.e - confirming independent "votes" instead of one person voting 2,000 times). I'll just address the hogwash posted below:
Quote:
This all began innocently enough when I created artwork to support the NY Giants Super Bowl quest for SB XXI and SB XXV. The paintings reproduce on these billboards were incomplete so that if the team went on to win the SB I would then complete the artwork by painting the football silver to reflect the trophy won. The completed artwork was then reproduced as the NFL licensed NY Giants Super Bowl Commemorative Series limited edition prints. As history shows, each time this cause and effect event took place the NY Giants went on to win the SB, a 2-for-2 track record. The stage was now set to see if this 2-for-2 track record was about luck or was it destiny, i.e., predetermined event or series of events or what physicists call superdeterminism.
That isn't cause and effect. It also isn't an exercise in destiny. Also, this is also bullshit from a scientific point of view:
Quote:
From 2000-2012 football fans voted 24/7 online each year to have their team on the next Tempt Destiny billboard in support of their team's SB bid. The team with the most votes would determine the team selected – ACT. However, the team selected also needed to compete in the SB in order for the selection to come into existence – POTENTIAL.
There is no correlation between the Act and the Potential. The vote didn't impact the result and your findings don't even prove anything. I think out of 15 years, only twice did the team with the most votes win the SB. That isn't disproving science, it is proving luck.
Look - I'd like to spend a lot of time discrediting even more of the shit spewed on that site, but frankly, I already did this years ago when trying to get your ass to stop posting spam all over BBI. I'd actually like for real BBI scientists to slam this because I hate the fact that some moron has a website with such a flawed scientific findings that an engineer can blow holes in it.
You are so confused you even make up your own fantasies. Nonetheless, if your opinions of reality (logic and science) are true then conduct the Final Selection Thought Experiment in real life to show everyone that the findings are false.
It is one thing to express uneducated opinions, it is quite another to back them up. I designed the thought experiment for those who have the capacity to think it through to its logical conclusion and for those without such capacity, such as yourself, to put your money where your mouth is.
Do not fear FatMan, everyone knows you do not have the integrity to support your own opinions and so you do not need to make excuses in order to not conduct the thought experiment in real life. Your argument is with nature, not with me.
RE: Why do I have absolutely no recollection of this? Â

Thought experiment following the great tradition of Albert Einstein.
he asked a question to get clicks on the thread so he can pitch his "program" and people keep responding. Say what you want but this guy is a genius. It's like the subliminal popcorn ads hidden in a frame of a movie.

How To Contest The Tempt Destiny Experiment Results
To test if the acts of selection are indeed fundamental laws of Nature and not merely cognitive acts, we can contest the findings in real life as follows:
Ho - If the two acts of selection are not necessary for your existence then you can safely conduct the Final Selection Thought Experiment in real life and continue your existence.
Ha - If the two acts of selection are necessary for your existence then you cannot conduct the Final Selection Thought Experiment in real life in order to continue your existence.
Final Selection Thought Experiment:
Let's say that one morning upon awakening you find yourself in a world that is absent of the ability to choose, e.g., completely paralyzed. This means you cannot choose to move your body whatsoever. You cannot choose to take in any fluids. You cannot choose to take in any nourishment. You cannot choose to relieve yourself, et cetera. Nor can you have others indirectly choose for you. The outcome is absolute. The effect of a physical system to no longer have the capacity to make direct selections is certain death.
The assumption that selection is some sort of option, a freedom of will, is unsubstantiated by the fact that this predetermined mechanism we call choice is how energy works which is a fundamental necessity, not a metaphysical or cognitive option, of our physical existence. In other words, when the origin variables of selection come to exist, energy exists, for they are one and the same. As the thought experiment illustrates, we have the ability to choose because we do not have the option to not choose in order to exist.
And to think this all came about by supporting the NY Giants!
Do not fear FatMan, everyone knows you do not have the integrity to support your own opinions and so you do not need to make excuses in order to not conduct the thought experiment in real life. Your argument is with nature, not with me
There's that word - integrity again. You keep using it, but seem to not know what it means. Similar to the idea of proper experimentation.
Experimentation aside, my argument isn't with Nature it is with some fuckstick spamming a message board to vote on a banner over and over again.
To me, it seems like TemptDestiny.com is less about science, and more about trying to sell shitty artwork from Manual Morales.
No there is no newsletter to sign up for. Only NY Giants prints to win by conducting a simple keyword word search that even grade school children can conduct.
The challenge is there for anyone with integrity to put his money where his mouth is. If you honestly think that the two laws that govern our existence are not so, then feel free to show everyone you know what you are talking about by conducting the thought experiment in real life. GO FOR IT!
About a year ago, I became a member of ResearchGate.net where the world's scientists meet online to discuss their findings, ask questions, and share their knowledge in a respectful manner. If my findings are in error, it will be amongst my peers to be found out. Since the findings are unambiguous, they are incontestable and so they have stood the test.
Last week I created the basketball example for grade school children as a teaching aid of what the Tempt Destiny findings show and how it affects the current scientific methods of using effects as a substitute for ignorance of cause. If a researcher receives 20 or so views of his research in a week that is considered to be substantial activity. As you can see, the interest in my work has escalated exponentially.

It was nice knowing you...
Money where my mouth is? By how, buying a shitty Manuel Morales painting?
Integrity would be not creating a pseudo-science site that is a sham for the purpose of promoting a starving artist's works.
Let me boil it down for you - there is no value to doing thought experimentation the way you've described. It is not a valid experiment for many reasons.
So, your challenge was for me to waste time on a flawed project? Challenge not accepted!
Hopefully the "nice knowing you" line is a precursor for your ass to be off BBI for another several years.

what the FatMan does. All talk, no integrity. You have the means to show everyone how valid your opinions are and yet you openly show that they are totally worthless. Be the FatMan you think you are and GO FOR IT!
at my 9:32am post to scratch the surface on why you are full of shit.
True integrity would be proving your theory or at least making sense instead of creating a sham site trying to foist bullshit to the scientific community.
No doubt, you won't address what I said at 9:32am and will instead keep putting out a throwaway line like: And just think, this all started by supporting the New York Giants
I've been posting and lurking on BBI for quite some time, and I have invited a few people to join. It has been a very fun ride.
As for this "experiment" thing, I have no recollection of it at all. I probably ignored it as a waste of time and totally erased it from my memory. My conclusion must have been I have better things to do with my time than voting on an irrelevant website.
RE: RE: RE: Why do I have absolutely no recollection of this? Â
sparing with you guys. I will take note of the names in this post so that if anyone of you submit your keyword search results by December 23, 2015, and mention this thread for verification then you will be qualified for one of the NYG print sets that I have set aside for football fans. Additional details will be posted next week at the TD web site.
Those of you that voted for the NY Giants back in the day (including the FatMan) should take pride of your past efforts to support your team in this historic research. Best wishes...
... for me also. Don't you get an informal "sequence" number when you join - or want to start a thread in Corner Forum? If it still works that way (or ever did) that info is private though, anyway.
June 6, 1999. I know the date because the night before I met Tiki in a bar after the 4 point play. Tiki was very candid about the Kent Graham/Kerry Collis controversy. When I told DaveinBMNY told me about this site and suggested I post about my encoubter. I've been posting ever since.
I remember Eric's letters to the editor which I read often but only sent in a few myself and I wasn't really active until Pete's Corner.
i just read Letters and did not jump in until Pete's Corner was created.
LOL, yeah the internet was still kind of new to and me other than looking up information the whole sending in a letter was kind of strange to me for some reason. I think I sent in maybe three or four and quit. For whatever reason Pete's corner was right up my alley and I felt more comfortable getting more involved posting.
I thought it might be sarcasm, but wasn't 100%. Then I was trying to remember of he was one of the posters who sort of took MiS under their wing, so to speak.
I created the program for fans to vote, not for me to help you guys to vote. That was the fans responsibility, not mine. The log files from this activity showed me where these votes came from which allowed me to "lurk".
As I recall, FatMan was one off the early supporters of voting for the Giants until the Bills fans started to give you guys a run for it. That's when FatMan turn against it and like a canker sore poisoned the taste of fan support for the Giants SB XXXV bid. The rest as they say is history.
If you want to know why you guys failed that year, you have the FatMan and his following to thank.
They solicit and they do it hard. There is no peer review; there's no peer anything wrt criticism. It's a good way to bank your papers I guess and they try to make you feel good by telling you the number of people who happened to have clicked on your name. But there's not much more significance to their stats than that. Judging from my inbox, it's borderline spam.
a debt of gratitude. By actively sabotaging NY Giants fan support that year, he helped quieted fan skepticism that since I was a Giants fan I would rig the votes in the Giants favor. For you guys this was a competition for me this was an experiment to see:
"Can destiny be tempted by having history repeat itself for a third time, and if so, for which NFL team?"
You do not have a clue as to what you are talking about. Nobel Laurettes and many of the world's PhDs in science have profiles and their peer-reviewed papers there for review.
You are out of your league Bill, don't criticize what you do not understand.
Rams Fans showed they're #1
Congratulations to the #1 Rams fans and winner of the 3rd Tempt Destiny!™ billboard rights. However, due to the Rams playoff loss, the 3rd Tempt Destiny™ billboard was not created for SB XXXV
Another year the billboard shit didn't work. So your experiment worked what 2 out of 15 times?
mudbear's recollections had a better hit percentage.

People have their papers listed there and it's a good way to request reprints. There is no peer review and there is no peer criticism. There is a pseudo ranking based on hits and citations (going forward). In and of itself, Resarch Gate is meaningless. LinkedIn with less cv and more bibliography and no relationship to job openings.
If you actually read what this was all about the perhaps you would have not said, "Another year the billboard shit didn't work. So your experiment worked what 2 out of 15 times?"
I realized this is out of your league for even a five year old can understand that you cannot choose what cannot be chosen. In other words, a fan cannot support his team's Super Bowl quest (act) if they do not go to the big game (potential). The act of selection is a dichotomy in that BOTH elements (act+potential) need to simultaneously exist for either to exist. This is what the Tempt Destiny experiment showed time and time again (see link).
"Resarch Gate is meaningless" to those who do not know its value and how to use it to share research among the world's scientific community. Become a researcher, publish your findings, and then join the community to see how this all works. Once again, you are out of your league Bill and should refrain from commenting about what you do not know.
do you ever get laughed at when you've wasted a large portion of time on an "experiment" where the act and potential have no relation to one another?
You've proven one thing - that random chance exists - but that's already been proven.
Your arrogance comes off as Matt in Syracuse, but you are a shitty painter named Manuel Morales, not a disgraced, fired Ithaca College professor named Matt Frank.
Used to log onto a website called "big blue wrecking crew" ended up here eventually (remember Pete's corner) but rarely if ever posted and it would have been under a long-forgotten handle.
Picked up aquidneck when I moved to the island in 2006.

I guess that is why you bailed on your team when the going got too much for to continue to vote for the Giants. What a guy! Again, I thank you.
"Let me boil it down to you simply - your "experiment" has proved nothing. To put it more broadly, it has proved, zilch, nada, zero, squadoosh."
Since you do not know what omitted-variable bias means to an experiment, allow me to clue you in. It means your experiment is BOGUS because you failed to include the variables that caused the effects observed in the experiment, e.g., the scientific method of using false-positive data.
In 2012, CERN claimed they found the elusive Higgs boson they had been looking for the past 50 years. When I applied my findings to particle physics I found that by using the scientific method they had made an EPIC omission error. They have no idea which selection event caused the particle collision which caused the product decay they used as evidence for their discovery. The multibillion dollar Large Hadron Collider was solely built to detect effects, not the cause of the effects detected - BIG MISTAKE! (see peer-reviewed "Assumed Higgs" article)
In January of this year a CERN physicist confirmed my findings.
And to think, this all came about by supporting the NY Giants!

I do think Terrance Howard and this guy should match wits.
JohnC, you crack me up. My eyes are still watering. Indeed seeing the uneducated comments being made are indeed funny. just don't read the thread and respond to the OP. Look at the Duek Johnson slob job's thread about the robbery. Clearly it's one of our most dedicated dupe-trolls, but people are hilariously offering heartfelt advice in the midst of him getting pilloried...

RE: beats the people who have the overwhelming need to flaunt their Â
When it comes to Nature opinions are worthless and that is what the Final Selection Thought Experiment was designed to address. Either Nature is indeed absolutely deterministic or it is not. I invite all to test for themselves if their opinions to the contrary of the unambiguous empirical evidence obtained is false or not.
I once asked a five year old child if she knew what an experiment was. She replied, "To test something".
I then asked her if she could do an experiment without first choosing to do so? She looked at me puzzled, and then replied with a sharp tone of sarcasm, "Of course not. What kind of stupid question is that?"
If find it surprising that even a five year old child realizes how illogical (or stupid as she stated) it would be to think otherwise. If one's logic is based on effects causing effects then one is blind to cause and effect. As the findings show science is about learning from nature and then from others, not the other way around. Yet, here we are...
Allow me to make this as concise as possible:
Conduct an experiment without first making a selection.
Make a calculation without first making a selection.
Continue your existence on this planet without making a selection.
If anyone here cannot, then perhaps the clarity of a five year is needed in order for science to be about nature instead of our opinions of nature. As the unambiguous empirical has shown, energy and the two acts of selection are one and the same.
So if the FatMan is "dead-on target" then why is he afraid to put his money where his mouth is? Even a five year old knows better than this.
Make a calculation without first making a selection.
By the way - my money and my mouth firmly believe you are insane AND full of shit. And not by cause and effect.
Like any madman, you keep arguing you've proved something that you haven't. Writing a paper or creating a website doesn't make what you've done legitimate, nor does using absolute terms to declare you've proven something.
I bet even a 5-year old child could tell you that.

During my typical morning comprised of checking emails, avoiding coworkers and surfing the internets on the ol' laptop I felt an ever-so-slight rumbling going on in my stomach. Right away I had two choices...ignore it and hope it goes away or attempt to alleviate the tightness in my belly by letting loose a gaseous turn back in time to experience last night's delicious dinner of sausage and peppers.
Now - if I were on phone call or someone was in my office, I'd use the old Mind Over Matter Technique (MOMT) and ignore. But being as I was in my safe place, I decided to TEMPT DESTINY. It's like playing Russian Roulette with your underpants. I let loose and low and behold I won! Noxious clouds emanated throughout my office while my underwear remained clean as a whistle. Phew.
I think I'll Tempt Destiny a little later on by checking out early, grabbing some beers and watching some porn. Higgs Bosun indeed!

I agree...and that's why it's funny that people are actually seriously answering his question in the OP. People replying to threads without even glancing at the direction that they are going is just comical.
the unambiguous empirical caught my eye too, as did this:
Quote:
When it comes to Nature opinions are worthless and that is what the Final Selection Thought Experiment was designed to address
He keeps talking about "Nature". Meanwhile he created a poll for voting for a shitty banner to try and correlate to a team's success. There isn't even an aspect of nature or natural in there.
Oh, wait a minute: And to think, this all came about by supporting the NY Giants!
Repetitive jargon is a lot of what defined MiS too. If he says, "Bow to the Master", B will shit his pants!
can't remember exactly. i remember it was my first PC with an internal modem. First thing i did was search for Giants fan websites and BBI was at the top of the list.

I remember those days of 58k internet bandwidth access. It was like watching paint dry.
in February 2001, not too long after the SB debacle
You pointed something out that still troubles me today. Why is it that EACH time a selection was made to create a billboard for the NY Giants Super Bowl quest they went on to win and the ONLY time this selection did not take place, thanks to individuals such as the FatMan and his groupies, the Giants lost?

i am sure that you can find an answer to that in your version of science.

Science would like an apology from you for your insult, Al.
Any answer to an investigation (question) without unambiguous (non-statistical) empirical evidence is nothing more than a speculation. And if you use statistical data to support a speculation, you are still left with a speculation, i.e., scientific method.
No matter who made this selection, fans or myself, the results have always been the same. Another question that bothers me is why is this billboard phenomenon tied exclusively to the NY Giants? Since Super Bowl XXI and after 12 years and 32 unique potential selections, why has a direct selection ONLY been for the NY Giants?
You are correct about statistical sampling being "gobbledygook". The protocol of current predictive scientific methods uses repetition (sampling) to establish causality. As the findings show, the two acts of selection which are NECESSARY to conduct any and all experiments (cause), are not singular. This means that statistical sampling is unavoidably based on omitted-variable bias which can only obtain false-positive data regardless of repetition.
ANY method that uses prediction (guess) to establish validity of a theory/hypotheses (guess) can only obtain an assumption (guess).
However, if sampling is your measure of validity then chew on this sample: There has NEVER been or EVER will be an experiment conducted without a selection first being made... NEVER!
I apologize for getting technical. All the more reason why I only asked for people to do a simple keyword search for a chance of getting some NY Giants Super Bowl LE prints.
the banner dooshbag...this guy was all over BCWC and then came here.
You are confused. The Giants fans you call "dooshbags" were voting for their team. I cannot since I was hosting the competition. Fortunately, the Giants fans at the NYG official forum voted for their team and made it happen for SB XLII.

Wait, nope, the real scientists think you're a quack too.
Kicker, you should not comment on what it is you do not know. For researchers to cite my findings they need to prove them wrong, in order to avoid embarrassment, or adopt them in their research. No one can prove my findings wrong because they are based on reality, not statistical inference or conjecture.
This brings me to why I am giving away the NY Giants Super Bowl LE print set to the football fan who conducts the most keyword searches by December 23, 2015. So far one Giants fan has sent me her preliminary findings. Out of 11,600,000 search results, she found only one document at Google Scholar with BOTH keywords "direct selection experiment" and "indirect selection experiment". I have not reviewed the document so I cannot confirm the context of how these two terms were used.
Can you cite your scientific degrees and school. I will cite mine. I am a graduate of PS 52 in Queens.
Nature/reality, is what science is based on, which does not issue degrees, man does. But since you value degrees as opposed to facts, what was Galileo's scientific degree? Career as a scientist - ( New Window )

Can't give a straight answer? In other words, you don't have any degree.

OK. Now we have established that you have no scientific degrees.

If you knew anything about science, you would know that you do not need a degree to conduct science. Case in point, in order to invalidate the Tempt Destiny experimental findings all you have to do is continue your existence without the capacity to select, i.e., the Final Selection Thought Experiment as detailed at the TemptDestiny.com home page.
Please let me know in advance when you will put your money (life) where your mouth is by conducting the experiment in real life. Once you begin the experiment you will no longer able to communicate to tell people how stupid you were to test Nature's laws. Then again you will not need to, your actions will speak for themselves. GO FOR IT!
Case in point, if you get a degree in science, such a degree does not mean you are a practitioner of the art of science. It only means you have formal documentation of such studies. You need to apply such knowledge and then have it published in order to be a practitioner of the art. To the layman ignorant of science they are the ones who need formal documentation from those who speak of science due to their lack education on the topic, formal or otherwise. I find, as exhibited from the comments made here, that the ignorant are too lazy or stupid to do their own research themselves when given the opportunity to support their own words.
I do not hide behind a piece of paper or the fact that scientific journals and researchers have submitted their papers to me for review as credentials of my knowledge of science. Everyone has the means to openly contest my findings via the Final Selection Thought Experiment. However, if you lack the integrity of your convictions you will continue to revert to criticism of what you have cowardly failed to refute or have failed to understand. It all comes down to this, PUT UP OR SHUT UP!
most ill informed posts in the history of BBI - and that says a lot. You've pretty much taken a shit on any legitimate scientist and are saying that their degrees are useless.
what's next, telling doctors that their medical degrees are little more than toilet paper? You are the exact reason they hand out degrees for science. To separate quacks from legitimate researchers.
Here are just a few images of what you can win if you Â
If you are correct then why not show the world that the findings are wrong? Surely someone as knowledgeable as yourself can do so.
Make sure to contact the media about your historic stupidity to contest the laws the govern our existence. I am sure everyone will want to see this. GO FOR IT!

As you know this is not about beliefs and that is why you all have exposed yourselves to be the cowards that you are. Prove the findings wrong and I will go away and thank you for doing so.
Well besides you being a repetitive nutjob that is.
Your attributing a billboard to somehow having an effect on a team. Your using coincidental results and saying: "See that proves it", when in fact it proves nothing at all. So when you ask to be proved wrong its a vapid request since you have nothing proved to be disproved. About the only thing you have proved is that you have no comprehension of what scientific data actually is

You are the most insane human being to ever grace this board... think about that for a second.
By the way, if this will get you to leave, you have introduced Â
sample selection bias into your "estimates" by creating a sample that is not generalizable, nor representative. In fact, by doing this, you are no longer an experiment, as you have chosen to rely on self-reported votes to guide your results.
Hence, any estimates you create no longer tell the truth, and the experiment cannot be externally validated to any other situation.

RE: I think the problem is that no one really knows what the findings are Â
Your attributing a billboard to somehow having an effect on a team.
You are incorrect. This was all about repeating what had been done before and in the process of doing so, confirm the mechanics of HOW the acts of selection come to exist and its corresponding effects. Correlation does not imply causation yet that is exactly what the scientific method uses for its validity.
So when will you contest the findings in order to support your opinions or are you just another coward like the others?
you will confuse him with equations. That is what they teach when you get degrees, but what this guy proves is that degrees are for the weak-minded Simpletons.
how sample selection bias does not impact your estimates.
Correction, science based on the existence of effects necessitates sample size for its inquiry. As the findings show, the acts of selection can ONLY come into existence when an act pairs with its potential after which we can only observe its effect. It is impossible to apply "sample selection bias" to something that cannot preexist as the evidence has shown eleven out of twelve Tempt Destiny direct selection attempts.
If objects of scale and locality are fundamental constructs of our physical reality then how can such logic be correct if it cannot answer the following question:
How much does a direct or indirect selection weigh, what are their scales, and where was the mutually exclusive selection variable you just used to read these words located when you used it?
What this means is that the logic we use to perceive reality is based on the existence of effects causing the existence of effects which says nothing about how effects come to exist. Simply put, we perceive reality ass backwards. Science and the logic it is based on is erroneous if it is not reflective of reality in its entirety. We think that Nature needs to conform to our logic when it is our own mindset that has prevented us from learning how Nature works. Turns out the world is not flat after all... just our thinking.
FatMan you are making a serious mistake to assume science is sacrosanct. Science is an art not a religion. It is necessary for science to be wrong in order to get it right. This is how discoveries are made and how we advance our knowledge of Nature.
Since my findings are based reality and not assumptions or statistical inference, you obviously know my findings are valid because you have repeatedly refuse to disprove them.
Don't confuse the messenger with the message. Nature is what it is. Who are we to argue... some sort of FatMan?

LOL...let me ask you a simple question: Has one scientific entity (Mag, blog, think tank, radio station, Institutes, etc...etc...) ever come out in support of what you claim to have proven? Even the "nutjob-r-us" type sites would be a start. Can you show us a link where they agree with you? Now don't pull out some website associated with this scam, or the principles involved, legit outside sources only
Researchers from NASA, CERN, Los Alamos National Laboratory, NOAA, MIT, Berkely, Harvard, and far to many others to list have been reviewing my findings. Since they are absolute/complete, they are not contestable, a.k.a., the Final Selection Thought Experiment.
And to think this all came about by supporting the NY Giants Super Bowl quest.
You are mistaken to assume opinions, including my own, have anything to do with the findings. All that it would take to show that they are wrong is to conduct the thought experiment in real life and continue your existence.
People writing about these findings are already happening at ResearchGate.net. As far as elsewhere, time will tell.
way up at the top. I've directed you to that contesting several times and you predictably failed to recognize that. Kicker has contested the findings and the best you can come up with is:
You can't disprove the findings using science. Science is an rt, blah, blah, blah. Then something about sampling not mattering.
But hey, you are consistent about using the same taglines:
"And to think this all came about supporting the Giants". What came about, raging mental illness?
The findings show that energy and the two acts of selection are one and the same.
In order to contest the findings you need to continue your existence without the ability to select. If the FatMan continues to spew his ignorance with additional comments, I will know that he has NOT refuted my findings and is in effect confirming them by continuing to select to write comments.
His "theories" conflate science, nature and religion, but I think at the core he suffers from a delusion disorder (delusions of grandeur - supported by his constant appeals to authority) - if I were a gambling man, I would put most of my money down on a bipolar disorder, but with a small hedge on schizophrenia.
His attempts at creative expression, weak as they are, tilt me in favor of bipolar.

Reviewing them is one thing, trying to claim this validates them is something completely different. You would know this if you actually have the scientific self-taught pedigree you claim.
Who has come out and said (besides your own idiotic link you keep posting that proves nothing) these results are proof of anything? Come on put your money where your mouth is, unless of course your a "coward"?
for one of you to show everyone that the findings are false. That is all it will take, just one of you brilliant individuals to show Nature how special you truly are.
You have made statements with as many nooks and crannies as a Thomas' English muffin, and as much substance as cotton candy.
I admit it. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to go about proving or disproving such nonsense, because the statements just make no sense on their face.
I guess that means you win, but I am not sure what it is you win.
for one of you to show everyone that the findings are false. That is all it will take, just one of you brilliant individuals to show Nature how special you truly are.
Until then, eat crow.
You continue to run from the question, WHO HAS backed your findings? You throw the word "coward" around, yet it is only you who has run repeatedly when asked to supply verification. If you don't have any, just be a man and say so

Funny, I stopped keeping track for they are constantly increasing and since my findings are universal it crosses into particle physics - biology - economics - cosmology, etc. But since you have a hard-on about who are in agreement with my findings, I'll give one of the ones that I value since it relates directly with the first application of my findings to the field of particle physics regarding the recent Higgs boson discovery.
For the Higgs boson discovery to be valid, particle collisions must take place without a selection event first being made in order for there to be no omitted-variable bias. When CERN physicist, Adam Jacholkowski, was challenged to prove if such an event could indeed take place, he responded:
"@ Manuel You write, "...to prevent the particle beams from intersecting in order to prevent the selection events from happening. If you still have collision effects then the two acts of selection did not cause the particle collision effects and you would have proven my findings invalid." OK, but this is something we are doing routinely when the beam is lost accidentally, when testing the apparatus without beam (noise study), when collecting cosmics in our apparatus for the calibration purpose (alignment), when there is only one circulating beam in the accelerator (for beam-gas background study) etc. In all these cases we do not see any event of interest from the physics point of view that is we do not observe any kind of collisions. So what is your conclusion in this case?"
My response, "You have validated my findings". As confirmed by physicist Adam Jacholkowsk, particle collision experiments cannot take place without the selection event of two particle beams intersecting. In conclusion, by not accounting for which type of mutually exclusive selection event (direct or indirect) caused the particle collision effects, by scientific standards, a discovery cannot be made or founded on omitted-variable bias.
Bottom line, if the Tempt Destiny findings are not based on reality then it does not matter who backs them for only Nature has the final say... you know, as in the Final Selection Thought Experiment. The findings need to answer to Nature, not man.
each time you make a comment you have inadvertently supported my findings by not contesting them via the thought experiment. How special of you. Thanks!

Not a one. Which is kind of odd given both our personalities.

I was infatuated with Moulds and slow to warm to Toomer (fairly IMO).
Everyone needs to click on this link and then click on Pete's Corner. Lots of familiar names and some great posters that have moved on. I remember this ugly ass web page like it was yesterday!

And, met some people that piss off others on the Net, but are fun to be with in person. Many of those aren't around any more.
He's the fake scientist, right?
The real experiment is to see whether anyone can be convinced as to the veracity of this gobbledygook.
Went to camp in 2003 and met Hope and a few others. She introduced me to Strahan at the bar one night and I was like a giddy little girl all night.
...1998 or so. Original handle was JonS.
Went to the Super Bowl vs the Ravens in Tampa. Met Hope, A-Train, Rocky Thompson and CVA. A few others who I don't remember names.
Rocky you banned again!
It's been fun watching the site grow and change. Thanks to Eric, Pete and the knowledgeable posters during the formative years.
So, probably 2011?
That Tempt Destiny shit was plastered on here like trent with Tourette's, but instead of asking the % of fans of one team at a game, it was constantly posting about voting for a stupid billboard.
Jay, you are not dreaming - I remember that name, and I think it goes back before the www. My memory is that she ran a Usenet group that I used to access through Gopher. Hmm. Maybe I'm dreaming now.
I am sure Eric can clear this up and put a year to it.
January 23, 2012: The NY Giants organization had respectfully declined the Tempt Destiny billboard gift and advised that their decision is final. Since the Giants organization has decline this gift of support from their fans, we did not create a Tempt Destiny billboard for the 2011 season.
Even the Giants knew this guy is full of shit.
Because you spammed the ever-living fuck out of this website. The anger was directed at you and your behavior.
I lost my original handle in the big server crash in around 2004.. changed my handle, through Eric a few times since then...
And then to do it in the supposed name of science? Christ, that site is abhorrent in its logic. I only have a rudimentarey knowledge of science, but as an engineer, I know a lot about the process and the expiremental method and for somebody conducting a supposed experiment, that is simply a trainwreck.
Out of love of the team?
Fuck off.
Just because somebody is a fan of the team means they should vote for a stupid banner because a dude creates multiple threads a day asking to? Logic really isn't your strong suit which is bizarre for a supposed scientist.
Jealous of what? Your shitty behavior that was so bad the Giants organization told you to shut the fuck up?
What began with the NY Giants has ended with the NY Giants. This is as it should be.
Hahaha.
I forgot about the stupid banner shit.
The finding are invalid because of a myriad of errors. I won't even go into issues like sample sizes or verification of results (i.e - confirming independent "votes" instead of one person voting 2,000 times). I'll just address the hogwash posted below:
That isn't cause and effect. It also isn't an exercise in destiny. Also, this is also bullshit from a scientific point of view:
Haha
It is one thing to express uneducated opinions, it is quite another to back them up. I designed the thought experiment for those who have the capacity to think it through to its logical conclusion and for those without such capacity, such as yourself, to put your money where your mouth is.
Do not fear FatMan, everyone knows you do not have the integrity to support your own opinions and so you do not need to make excuses in order to not conduct the thought experiment in real life. Your argument is with nature, not with me.
You weren't involved in the Thought Experiment that is BBI at that special Juncture of Reality.

Those of us who remember this nonsense don't need to go to the website.
But this thread is incredible.
It was nice knowing you...
C?

It makes perfect sense!
The theory is that when I have a theory and you can't disprove it, it's true.
You can't disprove it.
That makes it true.
And to think, this all started by supporting the NY Giants.

The challenge is there for anyone with integrity to put his money where his mouth is. If you honestly think that the two laws that govern our existence are not so, then feel free to show everyone you know what you are talking about by conducting the thought experiment in real life. GO FOR IT!

Anyway, onto another thread
True integrity would be proving your theory or at least making sense instead of creating a sham site trying to foist bullshit to the scientific community.
No doubt, you won't address what I said at 9:32am and will instead keep putting out a throwaway line like:

Ugh.
As for this "experiment" thing, I have no recollection of it at all. I probably ignored it as a waste of time and totally erased it from my memory. My conclusion must have been I have better things to do with my time than voting on an irrelevant website.

Do you want to Spam them too?

As I recall, FatMan was one off the early supporters of voting for the Giants until the Bills fans started to give you guys a run for it. That's when FatMan turn against it and like a canker sore poisoned the taste of fan support for the Giants SB XXXV bid. The rest as they say is history.
If you want to know why you guys failed that year, you have the FatMan and his following to thank.

You are out of your league Bill, don't criticize what you do not understand.
All in the name of shitty art.
Vote for the Giants and I'll give you one of these free!

Hahaha. Those are always a hoot.
Yeah...but the OP is the whack job sign man, so by answering him, they're not really doing anything "in spite" of him but actually providing him what he asked for. It's not like he's just some random poster on the thread trying to derail a legitimate thread.
Nice catch...didn't even think about it that way.
Or asking for "car buying help" when in fact they are looking to flaunt their spending capacity. "I have 50k to spend on a car, need advice!!!"
I don't begrudge people their wealth (well, not too much anyway), but those threads crack me up.
I bet even a 5-year old child could tell you that.

i am sure that you can find an answer to that in your version of science.
Science would like an apology from you for your insult, Al.
I cannot find no scientific explanation for this.
Science would like an apology from you for your insult, Al.

NY Giants Super Bowl Secret Weapon - ( New Window )

Quote: OK.
GO FOR IT!
This is like a guy who uses a butter knife to spread oleo on a muffin lecturing surgeons on the methods for using a scalpel.

Like I said above, creating a faux science site under the guise of peddling shitty artwork isn't science - it is a scam.
I have an advertising slogan: Manuel Morales - bad artist, shittier scientist.
Your attributing a billboard to somehow having an effect on a team. Your using coincidental results and saying: "See that proves it", when in fact it proves nothing at all. So when you ask to be proved wrong its a vapid request since you have nothing proved to be disproved. About the only thing you have proved is that you have no comprehension of what scientific data actually is
TOO FUNNY! Way to go Kicker!
Now about about putting your words in your mouth, do you have a photo for that?
Usually I have a little sympathy for sad, desperate and pathetic people.
I'm making an exception here.

How do you know if you are insane?
What causes a person to go insane?
Insane in Spain goes madly on the plain. I think I got it.

The continual taglines of GO FOR IT!, the continual refusal to acknowledge the objections, the continual stance that there is "science" here.
It's like de ja vu all over again. Thanks Yogi!
So, how can you prove that the unobserveds in your experiment (the error terms) are unrelated to attributes about the samples that you have selected?
I can provide the requisite math for you if you need to see what I'm talking about.
Why does:
B(OLS) = B + (x'E)/(x'x)
So, how can you prove that the residuals (E) aren't related to your sample (X)?
Remember, to Terrance Howard, 1X1 cannot equal 1.
And cowardice.
Because otherwise, your hypothesis (if there is one) would be pure hogwash (which it is).
Nothing like arrogance to thumb your nose at the entire scientific community all in the name of shitty artwork.

Now don't pull out some website associated with this scam, or the principles involved, legit outside sources only
temptdestiny.com/science.html
or directly at ResearchGate.net (see link below).
Tempt Destiny Experiment Results - ( New Window )
Yet, not a single person has vouched for the scam.
The messenger and the message are both complete shit, as is the artwork associated with it.
People writing about these findings are already happening at ResearchGate.net. As far as elsewhere, time will tell.
ZERO. Is that too hard to understand? ZERO.
You can't disprove the findings using science. Science is an rt, blah, blah, blah. Then something about sampling not mattering.
But hey, you are consistent about using the same taglines:
"And to think this all came about supporting the Giants". What came about, raging mental illness?
In order to contest the findings you need to continue your existence without the ability to select. If the FatMan continues to spew his ignorance with additional comments, I will know that he has NOT refuted my findings and is in effect confirming them by continuing to select to write comments.
I cannot make this any simpler.
As nonsensical as the ramblings on the website. Batshit crazy.
That's my favorite bit.
Go for it!

Even on a website on Unexplained Mysteries which you would think would draw people willing to believe anything, he can't even win skeptics over!
Apparently, nobody understands his "science".
LOL.
Until then, eat crow.
I admit it. I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to go about proving or disproving such nonsense, because the statements just make no sense on their face.
I guess that means you win, but I am not sure what it is you win.

It is impossible to disprove something that has never been proven. To me that is apparently his strategy hidden within a bunch of nonsensical claims and verbage

Let me guess, the multiole restraining orders people have put out on you confirm NATURE as well?
One of the dumbest shits stated on BBI...and this place is chocked full of dumb shits. Not a single person wants your kind of crazy here, man. Just read through this entire thread or any other threads you've posted on. Not a single person had agreed with your dumb shit-based quackery...NOT.A.SINGLE.PERSON.
You have a serious mental problem, dude...seriously, seek help.

If you cant keep track of all those commending you regarding this why is it so hard to actually show those in support of it?
Everytime you make claims like these without the actual verification of support, you appear to be full of shit. Throwing around grandiose claims that have nothing to support them illustrates the duplicity of what you are doing.
I hope you put your silliness away for a moment and realize that the only reason you are still on this board is because the whole board finds you amusing in a weird way. It is not often we get to view such apparent horseshit that allows us to see the mind of the delusional.
And this guy reminds me of Matt in Syracuse, wasn't he a scientist or a chemist or something? gg still around? Those 2 had some epic battles.
Funny, I stopped keeping track for they are constantly increasing and since my findings are universal it crosses into particle physics - biology - economics - cosmology, etc
This really is Terrance Howard like. The dude thinks he's found a new scientific discovery that can be universally applied. Hell, instead of Einstein, our next generations will idolize Manuel Morales.
I just wonder if the genius he has in science will be diminished because of his shitty artwork?
GDI...don't invite him to keep linking random-assed shit sites to back up his findings!...:)
No... 15 beers.
I feel after 15 beers I might get on board. At the very least it would be an entertaining diatribe for a few hours.
This thread is gold.
Perhaps during the playoffs, if you live in Jersey, I will take you up on your offer.
Meanwhile, I have finalized the details of the prizes I will be giving away. So far it appears they will be going to a Giants fan. Time will tell.
