I've not yet been able to go back and look at the recording. I just might delete it without re-watching. But, can someone break down for me what happened there?
I know it seems over simplified to think "don't let anyone get 10 yards passed the line of scrimmage!" but someone did and I'm curious who and maybe why? Did the defender slip or get faked out?
UConn, pretty sure that was Casillas as well; I saw that happening immediately and said don't overcommit to his first turn. Poor awareness, particularly because Casillas (if it was he) had a S coming from the other direction to close down the exact move Casillas was reacting to. Not clever
Hope all good with you along the Sound
Yea short and medium passing game is basically the entire Patriots. This is just another 10yd gain in context. I was MUCH more afraid of them breaking the big play deep. If have found losing that way much harder to take.

Thanks man. We actually bought a house in Springdale in August so i'm not longer in harbor point. Things are good though, been a crazy year so far (baby right after we moved into the house) and couldn't be happier.
How's everything with you?
I would have blitzed and forced Brady to hit a hot receiver.......
I would have blitzed and forced Brady to hit a hot receiver.......
In hindsight that's totally reasonable.
But with the game on teh line on 4th down and you blitzed... the BBI altakockers would be saying "live by the blitz and die by the blitz."
I think it would take huge stones to dial it up there. Everybody would be second guessing, instead of just analyzing.
So glad this was regular season and the Giants play in a weak division, and conference, for that matter. Wild Card is in play as well. Did not think that was possible prior to season.
Which is why a good coaching staff calls TO once they see the formation. Same thing the didn't do in the first game against Dallas. And lets not forget that Casillais also blew the tackle on the last play which got them 6-7 yards closer for the FG. Fundamentals
A case can be made he should back up a little bit so he can align himself with the marker in the event he backs up too far as two other Giants defenders are located in the slot to his left (Patriots right).
Wade runs with him with one eye on the running back who begins to leak out of the backfield after the initial chip block.
Casillas begins to back up as the ball is snapped, but now finds himself at the 34 yard line as Amendola cuts and is right now at the first down marker as Brady releases his pass. Uh oh.
Casillas is now out of position to make the game winning play. Drive continues.
By far I'm no expert, but I see this a lot. It will be 3 and and 2 and I'll see our corners playing back ten yards or worse yet a player uncovered. Sometimes I'm sure it's the scheme, but others I can't for the life of me understand what they are doing.
So...
5 of 9 on 4th downs
only 1 incomplete pass by QB's on 4th downs (more than 4th and short)
On 3rd or 4th and Short...
- Opponents are 33/50 to get the 1st down. (66%)
- Runners average 4.5 yards per carry
- QB's are 21/31 with a rating of 98.2
