Where Are The Wins Among The Remaining 6 Games?

Trainmaster : 11/16/2015 5:53 pm
I'm not trying to duplicate the next 3 games thread, but I think it's more worthwhile to look at the entire remaining schedule:

[quote]Nov 29 Sun at Washington
Dec 6 Sun Jets
Dec 14 Mon at Miami
Dec 20 Sun Carolina
Dec 27 Sun at Minnesota
Jan 3 Sun Philadelphia[quote]

I don't think there are any "locks" as far as wins go (at Miami may be the closest). The games vs Carolina and at Minnesota seem really tough.

My take / hope:

W (6-5) Nov 29 Sun at Washington
W (7-5) Dec 6 Sun Jets
W (8-5) Dec 14 Mon at Miami
L (8-6) Dec 20 Sun Carolina
L (8-7) Dec 27 Sun at Minnesota
W (9-7) Jan 3 Sun Philadelphia

Hopefully, 9-7 will be good enough to win the division. As others have pointed out, the 1/3/2016 game hosting Philly might be for the division.
Not a bad guess, Train

are against Washington, Miami, Minnesota and the Jets. All are winnable games. All have worse QBs. None would be considered a shock if we won.

I think Minnesota is overrated. They've played the one of the weakest schedules in the league and Bridgewater is very average if that.

I'm kinda thinking 8-8 will be enough
AnnapolisMike : 11/16/2015 6:19 pm : link
Dallas is not getting 8 wins, The Eagles and Skins both have to go 4-3 to get there. The Giants need to win the division games and find one more...that should do it.

Let's face it. The division sucks. My chief worry is Washington at this point. If we can beat them and hope Philly falls apart... :-)

8-8 will be prob be enough if 2 of the 3 are redskins and eagles and that probably changes to a nearly definite if the cowboys lose to the lions this week. Unfortunately, I could still see the cowboys going 8-8 if they win before romo gets back.
Liked what i have seen these last weeks

especially against the Pats. We win them all. Carolina looks toughest now but you never know. Why not? ELI is playing All Pro ball and Spagnuolo has this defense going at last. JPP has been a revelation and will only get better after the BYE. This team is smelling the roses.

Why is that? That totally favors Carolina. You want to negate out best weapons in Eli and Beckham and have this game be determined in the trenches? Carolina has the clear advantage there.

The Skins and Eagle's is paramount. The Dolphins on the road than either the Jets, Panthers or both at home. Eli and Odell in the playoffs dangerous combo!
Giants could EASILY...
M.S. : 11/16/2015 6:42 pm : link

...lose to Jets and/or Philly.

And then we're maybe 7-9.

Just as plausible as 9-7.

And maybe Washington is no lay up either and then it could be 6-10.

Ya neva know with this team.

If we could eliminate the last 5 minutes of the 4th Quarter, I'm pretty sure we'll finish 11-5.

TexasGmenFan : 11/16/2015 6:46 pm : link
1. win both division games and we should be in excellent position

2. trying to guess at W's and L's is virtually impossible. we just gave a game away to the defending champion, best in the league Patriots 23 hours ago. if this team plays like they did yesterday, why can't they just beat everyone? seriously
Why are guys so confident about the Jets?
Drewcon40 : 11/16/2015 6:47 pm : link
The Jets fans around me are licking their chops. Here are the reasons (dont shoot the messenger because I am nervous as f*** )

-Jets are due for a win against the Giants
-It's their time - Jets are on the rise (Bowles, etc), Giants are in the same stage they are.
-Jets D will stabilize Giants O while the Jets O will move the ball on the Giants weak D
-Beckham may be the best WR but Decker and Marshall unit much better overall.

Look guys - you who know me, know Jet-Nation makes being a Giants fan unenjoyable. Give me some positives.

beating a shitty colts team, the browns, barely beating the jaguars, the deadskins who we handled and 3/4 strength

again the jaguars whos offense really doesnt impress anyone was in that game till the end if we play like last night their offense does not scare me

marshall has been up and down with some games just being a dumbass the eagles and pats game notablly and decker to me is just another guy nothing really special there .

this jets team does not impress me the 09-10 jets were much scarier

Should do it, hell 8 & 8 with the tie breaker should do it. Problem is I don't see us winning more than 4 so we have to beat the teams we should beat and not blow another game in the clutch.

that the Panthers are still undefeated when they play the Giants? I think the Giants would be up to the task. It would be a tiny bit of redemption for losing to the Patriots.

But Miami, Washington and the Jets are all very winnable. I don't think they win them all but if they take two of those three games, I think they're in very good shape.

Default : 11/16/2015 7:01 pm : link
unfortunately they are going to lose the division in the last week against the Eagles.
Redskins are not going to be the lay up the majority think
DCOrange : 11/16/2015 7:23 pm : link
They actually played the Pats tough had they not shot themselves in the foot multiple times with drops - cleaned it up and absolutely smoked to Saints. They suddenly have confidence and will be dangerous at home.

Cousins last 3 games - 75 for 105, for 858 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception. Passer rating of 117.

If you saw them play the Pats you know he last at least 5 completions and probably 125+ yards (a couple were wide open bombs with room to run).

Eagles are 4-5. They're losing in New England. That's 6 losses. They're losing to Arizona. That's 7 losses. What's left? Here:
Tampa
@ Detroit
@ NYG
Washington
Buffalo

If they go 5-0 in these games, then they win the East. Does anyone think that's happening?
I don't see Carolina or Minny as tough as Philly
Cruzin : 11/16/2015 7:52 pm : link

Both The Panthers and Vikings run to set up the pass, if this Giant D has a strength , it's the run defense. Philly presents a problem for us if we can't defend the short pass. It's a machine meant to tire the D out, if we allow the short 5-6 yd passes they'll get rolling. I mean you can only fake so many injuries to stop the clock.

I think we can run the table but would worry about Philly most.
The Redskins
aceinthehouse : 11/16/2015 8:09 pm : link
Are 4-1 @ home & 0-4 on the road.

With 7 games remaining

Giants
Cowboys
Bills

@Carolina
@cowboys
@Bears
@Eagles

If the Redskins upset Carolina, like I'm predicting they will this week? (Their overall record vs Carolina is pretty good)

Then go on to beat the Giants the week after?

They're winning the East.

Cause that sets them up @ 6-5 for the Cousins Monday Night Home showdown vs romo.

And I believe they will win that as well, going 7-5.

From here, they will be a pretty hot team, while getting healthy at the right time.

I think the skins finish 10-6 for the year.

They'll lose 1 more probably either @bears or @ Dallas in the finale.

Washington is not winning in Carolina. And the Giants are coming off a bye and will be rested up for them. I see the Skins dropping the next 2 and splitting with Dallas.

If Washington beats the Giants, then all bets are off. If they lose, they will be done because the Giants will have the tie breaker and set up for the Philly showdown at the end of the year.

Telling it like I see it.

Giants are terrible after bye weeks and the skins are at home, where cousins stats are ridiculous if any want to take a glance.

That would be 2 wins in a row for them. A first back-to-back wins for them.

Then Dallas that next week at home? 3 in a row.

7-5 will put them in the drivers seat for the division, imo.

0-6 or somewhere in between come downs to one word: health.

Will we get Richburg and Prince back? Can we manage to evade any further major injury damage? How healthy will our opponents be?

I can't say confidently that the Giants will win or lose any of those games. Carolina looks great, but they aren't new England and we are playing them on our turf. Really have to see the injury report and who needs the games more each week vs playing for pride.

I can honestly see the team running the table. But they have to stay healthy and finish off opponents. And make andre Williams inactive!

Cousins, Sanchez, Fitzpatrick, Bridgewater and Tannehill are all middle of the pack or bottom of the pack starting QBs. Newton is top ten, but we've historically done pretty well against QBs with his skill set under spags, the 2013 game notwithstanding and we get him in new York, in the cold.

Agree with Robbie. Carolina has a great O-line that beats people up. They can run the ball well and Cam will punish people. Their best receiver is their tight end, Greg Olsen.

On defense Carolina has one of the best middle linebackers in the game. They're physical.

Cold weather definitely favors them.
Here are the 4 wins...
BigBlue89 : 11/17/2015 9:19 am : link
Must win:
@WAS
vs PHI

Split 2-2:
@MIN
vs NYJ
@MIA
vs CAR

While for playoff purposes it's better to win the CAR and MIN games, we're more likely to win the NYJ and MIA games.

That gets us to 9-7 and I think wins the division.
every one of the teams left on the schedule is beatable
PerpetualNervousness : 11/17/2015 9:20 am : link
doesn't mean we will. but not one of those teams has the type of qb that has killed us - a veteran who can read defenses and deliver the ball on target consistently. if we're a playoff team, then show it. beat the skins and the eagles, and split the other two games. that would basically guarantee us the division.

Under the scenario you have put forth, if 9 W's gets the division, the Giants if they can win 3 of their next 4 games (one of them has to be Washington), they can clinch this thing without needing Week 17.
Honestly I can see that Miami game being a huge disaster
RForlan789 : 11/17/2015 1:48 pm : link
This team has proven time and time again to be nothing but a huge disappointment. With Mark fucking Sanchez starting games for Philly and that imbecile Carl Banks saying the Giants are in the "Drivers Seat" even though as a fan of this fucking team that chokes away loss after loss and division lead after division lead, I have every right to be paranoid. They're watching this team under Coughlin, right?

Can this coach get the job done for once? We should be 8-1 7-2, having discussions on whether or not this team will win the home field advantage or not. Who will we play in the round after the bye? No. We're talking about scraping out winning a shitty division with 8 fucking wins. Ridiculous. We can't escape from the vices of Mark Sanchez/Sam Bradford and you were given a GIFT with Romo being out for this long and you total 5 wins?

If the Giants can't make the playoffs being given gift after gift then I want every single person in that front office fired. But nope, the New York Giants way is to keep bringing back Jerry Reese time after time after time and then all of you will say "well, who do you want?" I don't fucking know some GM that can replace him and actually DO his job for once! I have a feeling we're going to get killed at Miami and by Carolina, we'll of course lose to Minnesota in a OT game!
RE: While for playoff purposes it's better to win the CAR and MIN
Trainmaster : 11/17/2015 2:28 pm : link
Is that true? I think the Division tie breakers are:

1) Head to Head
2) Divisional Record
3) Common Opponents

I think the Giants are the only NFC East team playing Minnesota, so a win over the Jets or Miami is more important than a win over Minnesota (who only the Giants play).

Would someone confirm or correct the above?
