It is a very big bummer that he didn't pick the Giants if this article is true. Holy crap... Collins and Flowers as book ends?? Like Boselli and Searcy all over again... I think TC's head would have exploded! lol

I thought he was playing Guard for the Cowboys. That would have helped the Giants just as much but I don't know if he would have started at Tackle. I could be wrong.
were one of his finalists, he likely would've signed with us if we had drafted him in the 7th round.
Hard to kill Reese for passing when all 31 other teams did so as well, but not unreasonable to feel a little frustrated at missing out on getting such a talent at almost no cost.
that the article doesn't mention that his agent threatened to sit out the year if he was picked any lower than the third round.
well it's discussing the post draft process so it wouldn't
It discusses why he dropped out of the draft does it not? There's every reason to believe that he may have been drafted if not for the threat by his agent so I'd say it's relevant.
I don't think any team passed on him because of the agent threat
So if the Giants

He wanted to be a UDFA so he could sign for more money that the draft slots. He probably wouldn't have signed with any team who drafted him. After the 3rd round.

Isn't UDFA also capped at a pretty low number? I thought it was in the mid round range or lower.

Too bad Collins won't be on the Cowboys' roster anymore after this season! Oh wait--
You're going into the season with your starting OLT on the pup list, 3 5ths of your OL is garbage and you have a SB winning QB and coach. And you have the biggest revenue making market in the league.
THIS is not a better landing spot than the 5 other finalists? C'MON!

Yeah but god forbid he signed with NYG, got hurt, and used the benefits of the "biggest revenue making market in the league"... cause he'd get killed on BBI for not shutting up and spending every waking minute of every day to rehab (even though that's physically impossible), like our boy Victor Cruz (#thereturn hashtag sucks, I'll give you that).
Is a wildcatter, a self made man and a product of a rough and tumble world that doesn't have the same respect for the NFL that the finishing school product John Mara might have.
Businessmen have disposal income that can be spent as unreported tax free cash that facilitates a lot of deals. I have no indication at all that that's the case here - but still, it wouldn't surprise me.
Don't even know if you are signed in the manner that he was and not drafted in the supplemental draft what your income is set at.
and the "what if?" scenario of Collins being on the Giants, with Wilson never getting hurt and a healthy Cruz... I know that it's not a foregone conclusion we'd get Flowers or even OBJ if Wilson didn't get hurt, since you never know how the games would have played out... but shit, that'd be a LETHAL offense.

So in other words, Jones pays players under the table? Right.
More like, he pays less than market value for troubled players.
Collins decided after the draft as a free agent. Perhaps the Giants drafting a tackle in the first round made it seem like he had a better opportunity for playing time elsewhere.
I thought he was the best OL of this class - and I stand by that
No sense rehashing this but I would have taken him with our 3rd rounder - risk and all. Our 3rds are hit or miss anyway and he was worth the gamble.
He wasn't convicted or even charged with anything so I doubt there would have been much reputational risk to the org if they had made the pick (obviously, they'd burn the pick).
Truth be told, I would have been tempted in round 2...
then why not just use a late round pick on him (6th or 7th). At that point those picks are crap shots anyway, and he's proving so far to be worth the risk.

Andrew, Beatty was hurt after the draft. Reese needs to get his crystal ball fixed.
Collins should have been treated like a supplemental draft pick who is chosen and signed in that order. No way should a playoff participant like the division winning Cowboys been able to sign him without the others passing on him first.
We will find our RT and a guard in FA and/or the Draft. We have lots of cap space for FA and we well get Eli and coughlin a good oline for another SB run.
This doesn't prove that Reese called his agent.
- BBI
So there's that.

Obviously caused by getting a superior guard on the cheap. You sussed that out, well done Stan!
Almost Dorsey Levins like. :-)
The craziest part of the gif is both of the players he pancaked were 1st team All-Pros in 2014.

I'd expect additions to the right side of the line this offseason.

At this point, I hope he plays well enough to hold out for a new contract, eventually causing for him to be traded. That'd be the dream scenario, IMO.
Didn't he grow up a Cowboys fan also?

Obviously, Stan doesn't understand the concept of correlation/causation.
Not surprising, of course...
Stan might be TDExperiment!!!
