Mine would probably be Calvin Johnson: This guy has lost more than just a step. Maybe its the big frame leaving him open to injuries, some of it is the qb play and dysfunction of the team BUT i'm sorry a top 5 wideout does not perform like this guy week in and week out. I would give just about anything to have Tate on the other side of OBJ.
moreso than Sherman? Im convinced Sherman would get shreded without the same help he has over the top as he does now. He's struggled this year badly and lacks top end speed. Peterson has speed in spades.
of course he was great at a time but the last 2 years he doesn't look like the same guy.
Matt Ryan is mine. Never seen a guy come up so small so often who still gets the praise he does.
Matt Ryan is a good choice.
It's weird because he's not even some force of personality nor does he have any jaw dropping specific skill to draw people in and get himself the pass pretty much no other QB in shoes would get.
I agree w Ryan but I think Russel Wilson is right behind him. Damn close
An important distinction. He was a generational talent. He got old.
My vote goes to Matt Ryan with Andy Dalton not very far behind
Now they add Collins. Wow .
Tom Brady to a certain in extent
Look at Larry Fitzgerald's stats from 2012-2014.
On a different plane I would nominate Sheldon Day from Notre Dame. Everyone raves about how he is a force and can't be blocked but the few games I have watched he almost always blocked and pushed out of the way
+1, although I think Flacco is pretty overrated but it won't win an argument because he has that SB.
Tom Brady to a certain in extent
I don't agree. He plays the game with heart. Say what you will about his off the field behavior (it was horrid) I love how he plays on the field. Tom Brady is in a great situation...but he works hard to make himself successful much like the Mannings.
As for Russell Wilson, oh I overrated, I just gave THE definition of overrated, which is RUSSELL wilson. Friday Morning groups before work, the big Sand Castle.
#1 Russell Wilson
#2 Cam Newton
...basically any player that has ever been in a play in the NFL and did something good is going to be casted as overrated, especially Adrien Peterson lol fucking stupidity has no bounds
If not, the only thing dumber than saying Peterson, is saying Brady.
Witten has eaten the Giants lunch and stolen their lunch money. Bryant has crapped-out...
I like Ryan and Wilson so far for QBs. I might include Andrew Luck myself but not sure that's fair. I think Suh is an excellent choice as well outside of QB. I also agree with the Dallas O-Line. They are good but often talked about like they are all time and they are not even close to that.
I anticipate he will get more credit than he will deserve if they turn things after his return. The team's losing streak has been about a lot more than just the QB play, but they probably rally around his return and I expect other areas to pick up.
If they lose a game or two after his return though, things could also implode.
I don't think Russell Wilson is overrated, he's not considered an elite QB, is he? he's kind of a Joe Flacco who can run. or maybe I'm just out of touch with the nationally accepted ratings.
Russel Wilson also in a close second. Again, a very good player/athlete, but definitely not in the top 1/3 of qbs.
Even in our SB runs, Strahan, Tuck, Osi, JPP all had moments and it took the sum of the parts for them to hit home on Brady. Watt needs Clowney to be Clemson Clowney otherwise he's going to be held in check a lot on game day. I don't think it has anything to do with Watt not being a great player, he is.
Haha. I mean, that's the last time he was any good right? I'll go a step further, Sophomore Clemson Clowney?
he is 21st in the NFL with 2037 passing yards, names like Cousins, Alex Smith (whos a good qb but barely throws the ball more then 6 yards) and rookie winston in front of him
he is 12th in the nfl with 15 Td passes to go along with 9 picks
he has completed only 56% of his passes
he has 11 turnovers this season - 11 int and 2 fumbles

I think he is top 5, not 2nd though. I think Palmer should get the nod for that one.
Carolina is going to start losing some games soon. They have some tough ones coming up.
Anyone who said Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Adrian Peterson needs to just leave the football site and go find a knitting board to post on.
If this weren't a Giants board, you know the answer would be Eli.
I'd say Tony Romo but certainly agree with Matt Ryan.
When I think of the term overrated, I think if the players career to this point...not how they are currently playing.
Aaron Rodgers?
Calvin Johnson?
Adrian Peterson?
JJ Watt?
Dez Bryant?
How is Tony Romo overrated? He's a great QB who has multiple comeback wins on his resume.
Is today opposite day or something?
I would use the word contributed. Lynch and the defense produced. Wilson was given a first class ticket to ride along.
How many playoff wins does Tony Romo have for the media worship he's garnered?

I kind of have to agree with this. This QB, sans Peyton manning, has probably had more offensive weapons than anyone in the last 10-12 years. It doesnt mean he is a bad QB whatsoever, but for all the love and fame he gets - he doesnt have enough on his resume.
How many playoff wins does Tony Romo have for the media worship he's garnered?
How many QB's would you take ahead of him?
He has made a living surrounded by major talent in that dome where every game turns into a track meet.
Ask him to win a big game on the road and it gets alittle hairy.
He's also had some high interception totals but in those seasons the narrative is that "he's pressing" trying to do too much.

Stop it. You're killing me. Drew Brees won a Super Bowl. He's been a top QB throughout his career.
He's one guy who certainly has a much bigger impact then what you see on the box score. His running skills forces defenses to change gameplans. Because of it he's able to produce points (3rd in NFL) with the worst set of skill position players in the league.
After the GB game the packers said they changed what the plan was to eliminate Olson after Newton had a few big runs early.
What he does in the Red Zone is special too. Nobody else can do what he does here. It makes the team much better that he's able to produce such a high red zone TD % even without even avg talent at WR.
Cam Newton is one of the most valuable players in the NFL right now.
Brady
Rodgers
Palmer
Big Ben
Rivers
Carr
Cam
Brees
Eli
Romo's a good QB, I'm a Dallas hater but I'm being objective here, when I say Romo is the overrated I'm saying for his godlike status from the media he should be a perennial playoff participant (say that three times fast).

Thats a fair list for the most part, but I would definitely take him over Carr and absolutely over Rivers, and maybe even Cam Newton.
Its not like anyone is calling him the best QB in the league. No one with any sense would say that he's better than Brady or Rodgers but you could make a case for him being top 5 and I think the attention he receives is appropriate. Maybe we hate it more than we normally would because he plays for the Cowboys and we hate the Cowboys.
I can't believe I'm defending Tony Romo. I feel dirty.
To be overrated doesnt mean you are not GOOD. It simply means that you are given more credit than others for a similar body of work or held on some type of pedestal by the national media.
My only issue with Watt is his manufactured personality. He's the best DE in the league, but man, does he come off like he's NFL's John Cena.
So you have the best OL in the game, a top 5 RB, and the best defense in the game... my grandmother would look great throwing play action passes behind all of that - and she's a cadaver 6 ft underground.
Give the guy an OL as bad as the Giants were last year, or the Steelers a few years back or the Pats now! Forget it. Andrew Luck put up monster numbers last year getting killed by defenders and handing off to Trent Richardson and the ghost of Ahmad Bradshaw. Cmon.
For example JPP put up big numbers against the AFC south last season and was criticize for it because they were seen as weak. Hell even fans of those teams have pointed this out and the fact that Watt gets to play them twice a year.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
I think Romo is really good, a tough guy on the field, and a big difference maker. Look at how Dallas has struggled without him -- much more than New England struggled the year Brady was out.
I find Romo annoying, and I get bored hearing TV people blather about him, since his team really hasn't accomplished much -- but that's their blathering, not his. I have huge respect for him as a player.
First response was the most accurate.
