Who says Vereen can't carry a full workload? I think he'd be spectacular as the feature back, he's fast, has great hands, good instincts. The misconception is that he's too small, hogwash. Joe Morris called to disagree. Give the man a shot, he's our best RB and was paid to do more than he allowed to do right now.

If healthy, they can hope to get him to sign an incentive laden deal but I wouldn't count on it. You cannot get a quality tackle for anything near $4.2M per, IMO.

Crux of the biscuit , feature Vereen, spell him with Jennings, hold Darkwa in reserve and take Williams out of the rotation.

Following past trends with recent players it is highly likely Cruz and Beatty will have to restructure with a massive pay cut replaced by incentives or they will be released.

It's RT or bust for WB, and I expect NYG to use his cap slot to go after Cordy or similar.

At this point I think Beatty is better at LT than flowers at LT. And Flowers skill set likely translates well to RT, more so than Beatty. Flowers has shown plenty of potential but he has also really struggled with quick and fast players. He is also a nasty SOB, Beatty is a giant teddy bear.

Right now IMO the Giants have an average at best rookie LT and an above average constantly injured LT.

is franchise left tackle. After a full season at the position demonstrating plenty of promise, it's unlikely they move him.

The question is whether the market will treat him as a "plus" left tackle. If the answer is yes, the Giants and their pending vacancy at RT may find it difficult to compete.

Agreed, that's the question on Glenn.

Can play anywhere. Reese even said as much saying he could play RT or guard. Beatty if kept is an athletic finesse type player.

So if they intend on keeping flowers at LT I agree they have to cut Beatty or move him and get someone like Glenn.

If Beatty is kept he will be average IMO at RT and be overpaid.
To me Beatty is a good player, his injuries are the only issue. If Beatty were healthy at the start of the season and stayed healthy my bet is right now we are all talking about how Flowers has RT locked down for a decade.

LT is the vital, most difficult position to fill when you have a right-handed QB. When you have a belief you have that player, you plug him in and leave him. Don't overthink it, don't get cute moving parts around.

Talk of EF locking down RT for a decade is short-sighted fanspeak, if you recognize why they drafted him.

They didn't spend a top 10 pick to move him to RT.

I don't know who the RT will be, but it won't be Flowers.

Serious question. Do you believe flowers would have beaten out Beatty this offseason if both were healthy?
And that if flowers didn't and dominated at RT they would have moved him to LT next offseason and moved Beatty?

I believe Flowers is the LT of the future, I think in the above scenario they don't put him there until Beatty gets hurt or leaves in FA.

But that's now in the past and essentially it's a strawman argument moving forward.

Beatty has added another two injuroes that prevented him from playing in 2015. Now those injuries, his cap hit, his age, and his soft label all come into the decision process for 2016, which is now where the convo should focus.

is an interesting name. Despite his size he is a better pass blocker than run blocker. In any rational/no politics evaluation Glenn would be the LT with Flowers at RT, even next year. Glenn is a polished pass blocker.

I love Flowers at RT and see no reason why you can't draft a prototype RT in the top 10.

My only point on the current situation is it all depends on how the front office views the following:

Beattys health and ability to stay healthy in 2016
The best option at LT for 2016 (Eli's prime)
The ability of players on the roster to play RT
Beatty's worth

If they have no faith in his health he is gone. If he isn't a better LT currently than flowers he has to compete at RT. If he can't compete there against current players he is gone. If he won't renegotiate or is too pricey to play at any position he is gone.

I think if healthy and they are confident in his health he could play LT or RT next year. I also think in 2016 the best combination of those two players is flipped from what most fans think. In all likelihood Beatty is gone and this is pointless. I just personally disagree with many that Flowers is currently a better left tackle than Beatty. He will be one day I'm sure.

If Glenn is viewed as a plus left tackle, he's worth much more on the open market. Knowing how this regime tends to operate, they're unlikely to sign a LT with a top 10 LT already in the system.

I tend to agree he's the better LT NOW, but I don't expect that to be the case much longer. In a cap league, tough decisions must be made and this is one of them. Flowers' love of the game, attitude, ability to play through injury, and his skillset are all things this roster desperately needs. He's a leader out there, and the OL calculus was changed once WB was lost for the season, I suspect.

Prince is the kind of guy your supposed to build a winning team around. First round draft choice, better to much better than average at a position that's hard to fill. Just starting his prime years.

His injury history is a risk. But he played in all 16 in 2013 and was second in solo tackles only to Rolle. They can probably cover themselves against injury to some degree in his contract.

When we lose a tough game to New England, I'm not thinking about how much cap space we have, I'm thinking about why we have this corner starting who couldn't even make the roster of most other teams.

Sometimes you get lucky and pick up a Brinkley for nothing, and sometimes you have to pay more than you would like to, within reason.

resign any of our better players. The consensus here is always they are over rated and not worth market value or some other reason (injuries etc) . Maybe this is how to go if you draft well for a few years and have replacemrents ready to step up. This has not been the case here since our SB years. Then into FA we go and over pay some one else's players. We have not been winning with that strategy, so hope it changes.

Not really.....you split his dead cap over two years, and that gives you 6.7M for a RT.....with the cap increase, could even go a little higher.......with Beatty being 31, I wouldn't risk cap dollars on his health.....now, if you want to talk a pay cut, that is a possibility, because no one out there is going to give him anything near 6.7M per year as a FA.....

I am surprised, that the Giants have not used Vereen like the Pats have.....they use him too much as a runner.....and they don't utilize him, slipping out of the backfield like the Pats did....he either stays in and blocks, runs, or goes out in a pattern......with the Pats he would slip out at the last second and get YAC....

Cruz gets endorsements from the NY area......we have paid him over 22M the past 3 seasons, for 5 td's......we can't chance another injury next year at that kind of price......you cut him if he doesn't take a huge pay cut....

There has got to be a better FA guard, than Schwartz out there....on quick passes he looks good....when Eli has to hold onto the ball, look out....

homegrown talent to second contracts. A Cordy Glenn could be available due to the ascension of Henderson, as junc said, for example. It's the Can't Keep Everyone effect.

tell all of of us what his value is to the team. He has already injected the pass rush we haven't had all season long and its only going to get better as he gets back into game condition, paying him is a no brainer...

Prince will be back if his contract demands are realistic.

Cruz will be back if...he agrees to take a paycut.

JPP will be back if...he plays well the rest of the season.

Beason is a goner.

Beason is gone for sure.
Cruz will get a settlement.
Beatty sticks because you need good OL's and I don't know if you can get someone in free agency.
