We need to beat Skins...Eagles and Cows both play on Thanksgiving
Will be the most interesting Thanksgiving in a while watching those two play. Detroit can beat the Sanchized Eagles and Dallas has a damn tough matchup against Carolina who looks like the second best team in the league. I predict by Sunday night next week the Giants have a 3 game lead over Washington/Dallas and a 2 game lead over Philly.
They just need to capitalize on it. I don't see Dallas winning out. Phil still has some tough games ahead and the Redskins are so inconsistent that no one knows what team will show up on any given day. The Giants absolutely control their own destiny. They just need to take care of business. I think if they beat the Redskins, Jets, Dolphins and Philly, they are the division winners. Hopeful for at least one win against either the Vikings or Carolina.
for one thing...we just watched the three other teams in our division play games. Based upon that it gives us a clearer picture as to where things stand.
And Eric has been running the best Giants site on the web for 20 years now...you've been here what 4 weeks?

It's very conceivable the division looks like this the next time we take the field:
Giants 5-5
Redskins 4-6
Eagles 4-7
Cowboys 3-8
And if we beat Washington, NFC East is game set match. Eagles would still have to play New England and Arizona. Dallas still goes to Green Bay. and the Skins would be done due to tiebreakers (They go to Carolina this week).
and have troubles closing out games, they'll likely keep dallas in this. Also, for unknown reasons, and with the eagles so bad, the giants just cannot beat the eagles lately. Until proven otherwise, the eagles will be right there.
Washington next week is going to be a tough game despite what they've done to them lately. It's the giants way to make it difficult.
You get a brief glimpse into the future and all you come away with is the fact that the Giants are 7-8 going into the final weekend of the season. If that's all you know, would you expect that a win over the Eagles gives them the NFC East championship or would you expect the game to mean nothing to the Giants?
Unfortunately, it's a short week and they're playing in Dallas. That will put Dallas like a game behind before we even take the field next weekend. Washington at home can also be very tough and they are playing better ball there too. Next weeks game has to get us off on the right foot otherwise it will be very tough sledding from here on out. Giants are their own biggest threat. If they can just learn how to close games out, we'll be ok. I think we'll see many more close games, however, the team has to close.

totally agree with this. fast start would be crucial next week. the best case scenario is they saw they could play with the best, they have a bitter taste in their mouth stewing for 2 weeks, and they just hit the ground running.
Washington is going to be tough. There are no easy ga,men's for me s. We need to close out teams. If we had beaten Dallas opening day we'd be in good shape. Mental error by Eli not taking a sack or calling a real n play!
Tough loss to New Orleans and the Patriots. But first night she strong and I think 9-7 wins this division.

If that's all you know, would you expect that a win over the Eagles gives them the NFC East championship or would you expect the game to mean nothing to the Giants?
That would be for the NFC East - don't believe that the Cowboys are going to rattle off a bunch of wins, and unless the Eagles decide to do a 180 they're not going to do that either. If that scenario holds true, we slogged through a difficult schedule and are poised to put up or shut up for the division championship.

I think there is only a small chance that winning the game would mean nothing heading into the weekend. But, at 7-8 (and not knowing if we had beaten DC in Week 12), I would assign some significant probability that the outcome of the DC-Dallas game could render our result meaningless because we would lose tiebreaker to one of those teams.
I'm not sure your thread and my thread were doing the same thing. Your thread read:

5-5 in the shittiest division I've ever seen. Last week we get a gift from Miami as they put down those savages (Sanchez & bradford connection) for another week but will we get lucky and have Tampa Bay go into Philadelphia and have TB give them fit?
-The Redskins are playing "the best team in the world ever" in the 2015 Carolina Panthers with "the most ultimate QB ever in the world" Cam Newton. To some people ever he is the greatest QB ever to lace up his boots just because he has a bunch of rushing touchdowns on his career.
-What about Romo and the Cowboys? Should we fear them since our blue helmet team cannot seem to escape the grasps of Matt Cassell Kirk Cousins and Mark Sanchez? The Cowboys will be put to the test this weekend against the Dolphins.
What will the shitty NFC East be looking like after week whatever this is
Next week the Giants play Washington in Washington I don't want to see Nothing other than 45-7 to the Redskins ....it's Kirk Cousins and they're a joke. Don't let the mediocre shine in 2015.
The tone and substance was a bit different. And it wasn't clear what your point really was.
...did you actually read and understand what I wrote?
I said WITH ROMO AT THE HELM.
Obviously they have stumbled badly for the 7 games he has been out.
But watch out with him back under center.
Yes, sadly like the rest of your drivel I read that post too.
The entire team couldn't eke out a win the whole time he was out. They lucked into a win on the first week of the season, after Romo did everything to lose that game. And they barely squeaked out a win against a shitty Miami team in weather conditions that greatly favored them.
But yeah, keep up your delusional posting, it's a public service to those who haven't yet acknowledged the shortcomings of the American mental health system.
Why is it even a discussion? They don't get extra guaranteed wins because they're more talented with Romo. If we take care of our own business, we win the division, it's that simple.
Dallas will lose 2 maybe 3 more games ... but AT LEAST 2. I don't think they will go on some magical run ... but ya never know. I think they finish anywhere from 6-10 to 8-8. We shall see.
If the NYG don't win this thing and they'll have no one to blame but themselves. Philly is done. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they lose in Detroit on Thursday. That's 4-7. They still have to lose up in New England (4-8) to complete a 4 game losing streak. A 9th loss is all but guaranteed vs Arizona. That's 9 losses. Dallas is 3-7. Despite what Francessa says, they can still lose Thursday to Carolina. Even if they win, they have a lock loss up in Green Bay. The best they can do is 8-8. If we win next week, I think we essentially lock up the division. Philly's not catching us. We'd have a sweep on the Redskins. And Dallas is probably going to come up a game short.
would you fucking guys shut the fuck up with ruling the Boys out of a miracle finish?!?!?! It's not like it hasn't been done before? What if they pulled off something bigger than what we did in '07? Would you want to listen to Jerry Jones say "Ah knoo wea kid dew it caws wea da Dallas Cahbowys" for a whole year? Or watching Romo with those beady eyes and that shit-eating grin smirk while holding the Lombardi trophy?
Enough! Shovel the dirt on them when their head is chopped off.
of the biggest threat to the Giants is themselves. They control their own destiny, cannot take any team lightly, and they won't. I said it last week, I think Big Blue goes on a little run to close out the season.
It'd be a disaster for the team not to win the division.
comes through against Carolina, which bludgeoned the Redskins for 5 sacks and 4 fumbles. 12 yards rushing. Romo could be back on the shelf after one game.

But watch out with him back under center.
Unfortunately for them the games without him still count. They have 3 wins. They have to run the table, and you are severely overinflating Romo's impact.
If Romo is the bees knees and makes them unstoppable why hasn't he ever won shit?
You don't go 0-7 and then go 7-0. They will do well to get to 7-9. The Eagles had a bad loss today and you have to think there is something very wrong in philly. I think the winner of the Giants-Skins game is in the drivers seat. Washington has 4 division games left. If they beat the Giants they will be in the drivers seat with what looks like an easier schedule.
...with Romo at the helm they are the premiere team in the NFC East.
Not really a close second.
You've been in a coma and haven't actually seen football for a few months, eh?
you do know dallas would only have 1 loss if romo played every game right? only 1 game was not an extremely close game during that 7 game losing streak. romo puts them over the top in every single one.
Have been all year. We show we can play with anybody in the league but give games away because of bonehead plays, bonehead play calling and consistently gathering more data of proof that Murphy's Law exists than any other team I've ever seen.
Dallas is dead next week after Carolina gives thanks that they're still undefeated.
Washington we can simply outplay, they don't have the intelligence or the talent to beat us.
Philly is the toughest of the three but in order for their O to work they need someone other than Bradford or Sanchez to run it. It's scary when run effectively but nothing that "Ow, I twisted my ankle" every 3 or 4 plays won't stop.
The more time Spags is here the better this defense will get. If we can get our heads screwed on straight and play a complete game, we'll be fine.

Since the race is still wide open, each week next up is the primary threat. A small winning streak will work wonders but this comes down to staying alive for the last week.
Anything less than 2 wins is trouble. This is the stretch which needs to make up for a few of those last minute losses. I'd like to see the Carolina and Minny games not be must win games.
...with Romo at the helm they are the premiere team in the NFC East.
Not really a close second.
I'd humbly disagree with this. I think the first game of the season showed that the Giants and Cowboys are very close.
I agree with most here in that the only threat to the Giants winning the division is the Giants. I know it's not one of the choices but it's true. It's hard to pick a team to challenge the Giants since all 4 teams have been up and down all season.
I don't think any of the NFC East looks good enough to win it all this year. However, our Giants are the only ones to show it's not how you start but how you finish. Strange that I mention that since they can't close out a game. Maybe that's all they need to fix before the end of the season. I'm hoping the bye week is just what the doctor ordered and they close out games from here on out.
dallas with Romo and Dez are a good team but not good enough to run the table. if we go 3-3 they aren't catching us.
philly with bradford is a mediocre team, without him they stink.
washington just plain sucks.
As long as we take care of business Week 17 we're in good shape. It might be decided before that.
This. And others who have said the same thing. The Giants are entirely in the drivers seat. Hopefully they can treat an NFC East lead better than they have treated their leads in the 4th quarter.
are the Giants biggest threat. Until they start closing out games they need to be weary of shooting themselves in the foot. If they clean it up theyll run away with the east
we should be able to beat all 3 teams in the NFC but
If we win the next 3 we are a lock for the division imo

Beat Washington, beat the Jets and beat Miami. The division is ours if we do.
One thing to note is that we may be catching some of these teams at a good time. The Jets are really struggling right now and Minny is starting to show signs of slumping. If we can't beat Miami and Wash, we probably don't deserve to win the division, but depending on what happens on Thursday, even a loss to Washington will still have us controlling our destiny, I believe.

A loss to Washington means the Giants no longer control their own destiny regardless of what happens on Thursday. Washington running the table would give them the division. This game against the Redskins is absolutely huge.
I agree with you on possibly catching teams at the right time. Hopefully they take advantage of it.

Giants are the favorite to win the division.
This.
9-1 was in our grasp!
A typical Giants move at this juncture is to lay an absolute stinkbomb against the Redskins and make everything harder on themselves.
They have a tough road to .500 IMO.

Dallas still has GB, CAR, BUF, and WASH twice. They should lose at least two of those.

I think if we get to 8 wins prior to the PHI game it's locked up. Just take care of business vs WAS NYJ and MIA.
