Redskins: 4-1 at Home; 0-5 on the Road

Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/22/2015 11:28 pm
They have been a completely different team at home vs. on the road.

They obliterated a Saints team that beat us (though the Saints obviously have their own issues on the road). Beat the Bucs, beat the Eagles (who beat us), and beat the Rams.

We didn't face LeSean Jackson in first game.

Giants seem to do well against Kirk Cousins however.
I think he prefers to be called "DeSean"

sean I says.
JPP provides pressure and Kirk hates pressure.
Boy Cord : 11/22/2015 11:45 pm : link
DC is having major issues with run game on both sides of ball. Are Gmen getting any bodies back? I am not worried. Gmen have three best players on field: Eli, ODB, JPP.

Desean McCoy is on the Philadelpia Bills this year.
They beat a Saints team that is historically a far better team

in the Superdome than on the road.

Contain the run and force Cousins to beat us. Despite our poor pass defense, Kirk Cousins has never succeeded when forced to do anything. He'll make some bad throws and hopefully we can turn some of those into interceptions.
Any word on their LT...
NYRiese : 11/23/2015 12:06 am : link
He was seen limping off the field.
Saw the Skins had some injuries
JohnVB : 11/23/2015 12:10 am : link
Apparently Reed sprained his MCL, Trent Williams got a little banged up along with Morris.

If Reed is out that's a big loss for them.
The Giants defense is also much better...
okiegiant : 11/23/2015 12:12 am : link
with JPP and Amukamara(and maybe Thomas). They should be able to keep Cousins on the ropes.
This will not be an easy game
Jay on the Island : 11/23/2015 12:36 am : link
but the Giants will have JPP this time around and the defense will be getting JT Thomas and Prince back. Also Brinkley has been a great addition to the starting lineup.

losing DT Hanky no hurts. A shame he is on IR
Having Prince back for this one would b a big help.

You'd like to think there is no way he could miss this one since he's about 3 weeks past the 2-4 week time period he was given and coming off of the bye..

What is Richburg's status? And Pugh's?
BlueLou : 11/23/2015 1:57 am : link
Would be lovely if our starting OL is playing again next Sunday at Wash. OL play is even more important at away venues, with silent counts, hand signals, etc.
There are no truly bad teams in the NFC East.
Big Blue Blogger : 11/23/2015 5:07 am : link
There are no really good ones either. So there are few sure wins, and few sure losses. This game is no different: the healthier team will probably win.
We have a pretty good record following the bye
bigbluescot : 11/23/2015 5:59 am : link
7-4 in the game after the bye week under Coughlin. Last year's post-bye loss to the Colts at home snapped a six-year run of wins after the bye week.
Good week to be coming off a bye

If Eli has the time to operate and they avoid turnovers the Giants should win. Hopefully we get out injured back.
You can
Emil : 11/23/2015 6:35 am : link
never take a division opponent lightly, and the Giants won't look past the skins. The key is not letting them get off to a fast start.
Keys:
CT Charlie : 11/23/2015 6:50 am : link
1) Fast start
2) No turnovers
3) Score TD's at least half the time we cross midfield.
And the Redskins are 0-5 vs. the Giants in their last 5 matchups.
Britt in VA : 11/23/2015 7:25 am : link
So basically we've beaten them every year for the past two and a half, even when we were at our shittiest.
All division games are tough, but we need to win this one.
Britt in VA : 11/23/2015 7:26 am : link
No excuses.
Redskins are still suffering major butthurt
DC Gmen Fan : 11/23/2015 7:55 am : link
about the cap penalty from a couple years ago. Delusional fans still think it was an NFL conspiracy because, you know, their owner is such a standup guy and wouldn't do anything like that...
WE really do have to beat the Redskins

We're the better team
The_Boss : 11/23/2015 8:29 am : link
with better players. We'll win Sunday by over 10 points.
I will feel a million times better
UberAlias : 11/23/2015 9:05 am : link
If we win this one and come out without any major injuries.
Their level of competition on the road has been much better
Scyber : 11/23/2015 9:19 am : link
then their home games:

Road (35-14 combined record):
Giants
Falcons
Jets
Patriots
Panthers

Home (25-29 combined record):
Dolphins
Rams
Eagles
Bucs
Saints

Even subtracting out the redskins games still shows a disparity.

Great post.
Bucs actually had their number and were up by like 21 or 24 points
Simms11 : 11/23/2015 10:02 am : link
before the Redskins reeled off enough points to take the game in the end. The same applied to the Eagles game, in which Cousins threw a last minute TD to seal the deal. I think this will be another close game and another game decided in teh last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter, but hopefully we will be on the right end of the result this time around.
Cousins will give you turnovers.
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/23/2015 10:31 am : link
Just like always.

Giants need to win these next 3.
Kirk Cousins
George : 11/23/2015 10:32 am : link
is so incredibly inconsistent it's impossible to predict who we'll see on any given Sunday. That, to me, is the definition of 'mediocre' - okay one day, shitty the next - and the Giants usually play pretty well against mediocre quarterbacks.

More important is the injury to Trent Williams. If he can't go, or if he's limited by his knee, then JPP can pin his ears back on almost literally every snap and do some serious damage in the Washington backfield.

In the end, though, the Giants locker room has to decide that they're a legitimate contender for the division title: if they figure out that they can pretty much lock it up with even a brief run against three beatable teams (Washington, Miami, and New York) while our rivals have to play some awfully tough games, we can put this thing away before we even see Carolina.
Cousins can't handle physical pressure.
Boy Cord : 11/23/2015 11:39 am : link
He can't. There are lots of keys to every game, but this one is a must. The good news is, with JPP back the Giants are actually sniffing the QB.

Lots of bitching going on in DC today led by Jason Hatcher and Chris Baker. Same old shit from DC - excuses, excuses. As if one call in the second quarter affected the ultimate outcome of a 28-point beat down (come one, we all know it was really 30).

Someone pointed out before that DC is 28th in fewest penalties. They are actually the least penalized defense in the NFL. I guess the conspiracy is it's not how many penalties the officials call, but when.

I hate everything about their organization. The only person I fear in that organization is McCloughan. Hopefully his stay there isn't long.

No one pointed out
DC Gmen Fan : 11/23/2015 12:34 pm : link
that most of Cousins' TDs and yards against the Saints were dink and dunk passes with massive YAC.
