NFL Network, ESPN, Sports Radio...ALL OF IT is seriously talking about how Dallas is about to win 7 in a row and win the division....there's literally more people saying this crazy shit than people even mentioning Giants chances to win it....
I suppose anything can happen, but Dallas hasn't been a money team in decades. The media is acting like the Cowboys are the Patriots. Oh wait, that's right, when the Pats lost their GOAT quarterback, they went 11-5 (and missed the playoffs) . The Cowboys don't win a game without Romo and then just because he's back they're going to be unbeatable? It really is ridiculous.
was actually quite level headed about this on NFLN yesterday -
Literally said "The only reason we are even considering this is because it's the Dallas Cowboys, it's ridiculous"
This is what I've been saying. It's insane.
...and the talk of Dallas having a huge advantage over Carolina due to the short week is ridiculous. Dallas is on a short week also, returning from a road trip, and they are facing a superior team.
The Cowboys are given a 0.4% chance of making the playoffs (credit to Seth for posting in another thread).
If you were to swap the Patriots in for the Cowboys at this stage of the season I'd still say they were unlikely to make it. Sports Club Stats - ( New Window )
Everything is stacked in their favor (as it is for this game nearly every year).
But let me ask you this: would anyone bet money, real money on Dallas winning out? The talking heads can talk whatever nonsense they want, but when money is on the line you can't just throw crap out there. No one in their right mind would put real money on Dallas winning out.
And the same people here accusing it of being a Cowboys media circus are guilty of the same behavior by dismissing it on a Giants message board.
They have the most talented roster in the division and just got their two best players back. Is it so outlandish to say they could go 5-1 and win the division at 8-8? The Giants have a very tough schedule the rest of the way.
Would I predict this happens? No. But it is certainly possible. The Redskins... THE REDSKINS... won the division 3 years ago after a 3-6 start. Stop crying about this and accept it. They're 2 out with 6 to play. They might find themselves in the hunt.
If we take care of business we win the division. Our schedule is filled with winnable games. Go out and win them. If dallas wins the NFCE it says less about them and more about everyone else.

Actually, looks like they weren't updated for yesterday. Still going to be quite low.
Can't wait to see Carolina smash them. I would think Carolina is up for a let down but the media hype around Dallas right now is going to piss off Carolina. Dallas will have a fork sticking out of its collective back Thursday.
They didn't just get their best two players back. Dez has been back for four weeks, and they lost three of the four.
Like any good football team, it begins and ends with the quarterback. Romo is one of the best in the game. We'd be lucky to go 1-3 if we had the same Beckham/Manning situation.
point being this: For me, the Cowboys are a non-factor simply because if the Giants have to worry about a 3-7 team winning the division....then the Giants aren't to be taken seriously.
that people respected, then it would seem silly. But with Romo back, it's not out of the question. His return and the suckitude of the other teams fuels it. I don't think it will happen, but it's not hard to see where the talk comes from.
NYG will be 9-7 at worst. Dallas, if they win Thursday (and Mike Francessa said all week they would, if they beat Miami) is probably going 4-1 the rest of the way. Now, if they lose to Carolina like we all hope, then you can put a fork in them. Then they finish 7-9 with Philly.
Barely beat Miami, and now people are treating them like champs.. Dallas can't lose anymore games this season. And with these next few games, they might not get a win
or if any of the other plethora of Giants who have come up short is big spots throughout this year and this talk is not happening.
but Collins did drop the int, the defense did give up miles of yardage to New Orleans, the time management and turnovers against Dallas and Atlanta did happen and the Eagles slaughtered the team. Are all the issues behind this team? None of us know.
The mainstream media can convince the American public into believing whatever agenda brings them the best ratings (yes, we are that stupid as a country to listen to anything on the networks and that now includes sports)

Yep. Compare that to our 0.7% chance of winning the Super Bowl. This site says it's more likely we win the Super Bowl than Dallas makes the playoffs.

Mike, of course it is possible, but the media is blowing their chances way out of proportion.
The point is, put any team in their position...same position, same "talent", a team without a star on their helmet, and nobody gives them a shot in hell. That is my point.
Their "talent" is unproven, and overestimated imo. Again, star on the helmet so we assume they are great. I've been hearing about their talent all through the Romo era. What have they proven?
If anything Romo-era history tells us that they will piss away what little chance they have.
Speculation that Dallas could win the division is fine
It is not out of the question. But hype about them winning out is unfounded. Their play in the three games they played with Romo was not at a level to justify this kind of hype, and their string of losses in his absence was more than just the QB position.
Basically, it is typical giving Dallas every possible benefit of the doubt.
we've not heard a single person talk about Tennessee or Jacksonville winning their divisions, yet they would seemingly have as good a chance as the Cowboys, especially given how poor the Texans and Colts are.
Dallas is playing the best team in the NFC on a short week. Philly is going to Detroit who won its last 2 games and we go to DC to play the skins. If all breaks right, NYG could have a solid 2 game lead in the east with Dallas 3 games back.
Huge week and the media should be spinning this scenario but would rather blow Dallas and Jerry Jones.
was a "bonus" game because everyone else in the division except the Redskins lost. This week was a win for us on a bye because everyone but the Cowboys lost. If the Eagles and Cowboys lose Thursday, it becomes another "win".

Agreed. Speculation is fun but has little bearing to Cowboys play.
I thought no both Philly and Dallas lose on Thursday and that will be that! We just have to take care of Washingon to fulfill our destination by!
The field goal was a gift by the Dolphins as was the pick six.
They really didn't look that good yesterday. Their running game was fine but that only is a weapon if you are not playing from behind.i think this is a big game for Carolina. National spot light.
I would be really surprised if Carolina doesn't make them look pretty ordinary. Offensive line aside.

Right, the Giants have had many opportunities presented to them in big spots like you have illustrated and failed every time.. cash in on one or perhaps two of those opportunities and they could be shoving dirt on the rest of the division...
Not sure I agree with most things said in this thread.
Nobody in the NFC East has been consistent enough due to poor play and injuries to determine anything at this point.
"Likely" isn't going to just turn on with 6 games to go with any team.
The Eagles got their butts kicked yesterday but still have our number so don't tell me your confident if we have to go into the last game needing a win versus them.
The Cowboys still have a say in things as long as Romo is playing obviously, even with CAR and GB on their schedule.
The Redskins have the most divisional games left and those will actually determine a lot of how this division plays out.
Just nice we can talk about December being meaningful for a recent change...
Is they need all the other teams in the division to come up short as well. Hopefully they lose Thursday and all the talk ends. If they win the talk will become unbearable.
Literally said "The only reason we are even considering this is because it's the Dallas Cowboys, it's ridiculous"
Then the Cowboys prove them wrong...and the next year it starts all over again.
NFL Network 'analysts' don't mind looking like fucking idiots year after year because they figure one of these days, they'll finally be right.
Just say no to Cowboys love.
One more loss assures they can't finish better than .500.
They weren't a juggernaut before romo got hurt, lost every game with Romo hurt and now are supposedly invincible?

You didn't hear that with Romo, they would be 9-1? Did you miss the memo from the people who apparently have access to a 'What-if' machine?
I am sure everyone at the league offices were pulling for the Fins to lose so that Dallas/Carolina game were be something to tune into on Thursday.
It's all about marketing.

Of course they're going to talk about it. Think they're going to say the Giants are a lock? This is far from over.

I was looking at the standings today and realized Pete Rozelle finally got his wish of parity with 90% of the teams within close contact of 5-5
We just have to keep winning. If we cannot do that we don't deserve a playoff spot.
I think there was one team a few years ago which went 7-9 and went in to the dance. As I recall they won one playoff game but then fell back to earth
We really should be aiming at minimum 5-1 from here to the dance.
you cannot erase a loss
if you could our game last week should be a win, not a loss caused by some wank in a Secacus NJ studio
This is actually a pretty big game for Dallas. They get a chance to quickly ratchet up to fast wins with Romo back and be 1 back in the win column.
On the other hand, if Carolina beats them, they have a long road back with 8 losses to make the playoffs they probably have to win all 5 games.

so you think 8-8 takes the division? I guess that's possible this year
