Irate Joe Benigno Destroys Jets In Classic Rant

Headhunter : 11/23/2015 3:26 pm
Benigno asked to open the show. “Where do we start? Want to start with the coaches? Want to start with that? Want to start with Devin Smith, who stinks and shouldn’t even be in the league? What do you want to start with? Want to start with the horrific defense and maybe the worst game I’ve ever seen Darrelle Revis have? Want to start with that?

“You want to start with the offensive line, who couldn’t block J.J. Watt all day? Could we start with that? Where do we want to go? You want to start with Brandon Marshall dropping a couple more passes? Where are we going? Tell me where.”

The Jets came out of the gate
NoPeanutz : 11/23/2015 3:41 pm : link
after a disastrous year and with a backup QB amd got off to a very fast start. They're coming back down to earth now. They just got beat by an under rated team on the road. "They are who we thought they are" as Coach Denny once said.
And what are they? Not nearly as good as NE, but probably better than Buffalo and Miami.

Not sure about being better than Buffalo - I think Taylor (while no great shakes) is definitely better than Fitzpatrick, and across the board on both lines they're probably better.

The Jets losing Mangold isn't helping them any on the OL, and Chris Ivory is just ordinary without any blocking (as would be the case for most RBs).

What's driving Jets fans crazy is Bowles' demeanor on the sideline. They're so used to zany, they can't take a guy who looks emotionless on the sideline during a loss, even if it means absolutely squat as to the outcome of the game or the coaching job he's doing.
It's truly an amazing NY sports phenomenon.

Prior to the season, everyone sets their expectations for the local teams, which this year were .500 records for both the Giants and Jets. Here we are on Thanksgiving week, with both teams fulfilling those expectations with 5-5 records, yet rants like this persist. I admit I'm guilty of it myself sometimes.

How long is Mangold out?

Yeah, but like Peanutz mentioned they started hot, so the initial expectations were off. New coach, new GM - maybe things were going to be different for the Jets. Now, maybe not.

The Giants were a different animal - opening 0-2 but showing promise, then rattling off some wins, people were hoping for a rekindling of the 07 or 11 magic.
All teams in the NFL are mediocre now
averagejoe : 11/23/2015 4:09 pm : link
The teams that have a franchise QB can compete for a championship and the teams that do not have a franchise QB cannot. The Jets are just another team that has no QB.

It's as simple as that .

This is why if Eli can somehow win four more games the Giants will be a threat to every team in the postseason.

Also - the Jets stink.

Why I love the Jets
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 11/23/2015 4:33 pm : link
the last two games their radio team and their SNY team have prattled on about how the Jets should easily handle the Bills and Texans. So overconfident for a team with Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB. Then they lose and they are apopletic.

BRO. WHAT? BRO. ARE YOU KIDDIN ME? ANTHONY'S COAL-FIRED PIZZA.
u guys are too mean to Beningo

Ever since the Jets off-season spending spree,
Dave in Hoboken : 11/23/2015 4:40 pm : link
alot of people jumped on their bandwagon after that. Even more did after their quick start. But they've come back down to Earth now and were very overrated in the offseason. Some said their defense could be all time great. Yeah, um no. Overrated. Oh, and LOLRevis.
I like Beningo but these whiny rants are lame
NYGmen58 : 11/23/2015 4:41 pm : link
They lost by 7 points on the road to a team that is playing great defense.

I understand the frustration from the 4-1 slide but this is a much improved Jets roster, front office, and coaching staff from the last few years.

Could they really expect much more when you don't have a good QB?

Joe B's impassioned
Gregorio : 11/23/2015 5:05 pm : link
rants are awesome. He was better back in the late 80's. I'm neither a Jets nor Mets fan but I love to hear Joe B.

If Pugh and richburg play vs the jets Eli will have a field day. Their secondary looks like a mess
Benigno is a bit of a jackass.

really nothing more than a fan who won a contest. I guess that is a dream come true for a lot of people.

I just cannot listen to him for more than 2 min. I feel like I am listening to a NY bus driver... or a guy Francesa would hire to work on his car.

Not sure he's that smart. Most of that program is reciting the previous night's Mets game, moronic callers and terrible commericals.
Yeah hes annoying, but.....
TheShade : 11/23/2015 11:02 pm : link
...was he wrong? The Jets O-Line was horrible. Revis had his worst game ever, and then got injured. Cromartie sucks. The supposed "great" D-Line couldn't stop TJ Yates, for crying out loud. Its the Fucking Texans. Losing Willie Colon and Mangold hurts Ivory. Bradon Marshall catches 1 good pass and drops the next 3.

Ah screw it, I'm a Giants fan and WFAN is un-listenable, so who cares.
Badingo used to be great
trueblueinpw : 11/24/2015 12:54 am : link
When he started on the FAN he was terrific. I used to listen to him all the time. No idea where the. "bro" thing came from but its almost like some kind of tic or something with him. He knows his stuff, he has a sports memory that is unlike any other broadcaster I've ever heard. The is like walking sports encyclopedia. But the "bro" shtick makes him seem like some kind of overgrown frat dufuss.
The major problem for the Jets is the commitment to Fitzpatrick
Bob in Newburgh : 11/24/2015 9:30 am : link
The guy does not have a starter arm (make all the throws).

If the Jets do not make the playoffs on the one hand, and have not made a performance based determination on Geno Smith, one way or the other, the season is a total disaster.

Jets record will be mediocre enough that a franchise QB through the draft is unlikely.

Unless Devin Smith has developed a case of the yips, he will be fine. Unfortunate thing that he is going through right now. Hands were not a problem in college.
If you think you're gonna ride to the AFC playoffs on Ryan Fitzpatrick
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/24/2015 9:42 am : link
you're gonna have a bad time.
This really wasn't a classic Benigno rant.
Mr. Bungle : 11/24/2015 10:00 am : link
He's good for about five of these per season, easily.

The classic ones are when he reaches a point at which he's having a sort of existential crisis as a Jets fan. In those, he's not even ranting about the latest game or even the current season overall, but drifts into Nightmare Lane, drudging up all the Jets coaches, players, GMs, games, and seasons far in the past that have wounded him to this day.

Those are the classics.
Joe is pure entertainment ....
Manny in CA : 11/24/2015 12:43 pm : link
He's genuine, (Jets fan) and that's what makes it so real & good.

He's almost as impassioned as the Eagle's fat guy fan who keeps making also those Youtube videos. (Remember the one where he was breaking furniture while his mom was yelling at him to calm down ?)

Video Guy made another, after the loss to Tampa Bay (I didn't want to link it because it's so full of his potty mouth)
