NFT: Is the Xbox one worth a buy?

OBJ_AllDay : 11/24/2015 1:38 pm
i really haven't played on a console in about 2 years but figured it might offer some entertainment during the cold winter months. Is this console worth a buy? Any good games? I suck at Fifa but have always enjoyed playing it. I like most sports games and I used to play a bunch of call of duty and gears of war years ago. Any input would be great.
My 360 died..

and I bought the XBox One the next day.

For the son, of course...

I think it is the best console for my tastes - XBox Live is relatively bug free and there are always plenty of people available for FIFA matches or multiplay games.
Excellent console

Tons of games, great exclusives, much better online service...

So many great games are on both Xbox and PS, so gaming-wise, it really comes down to which exclusives you favor. I tend to like shooters, so I choose Xbox.

Personally, PS just doesn't do it for me. Too many of their games are just weird or seem too niche, for lack of a better word. They do have great sports titles, though...
Of course its worth it.

If you're going to play it.
I just received my PS4 that I ordered last week...

The last console I had was an XBox360 (original bought back in 2007), which I stopped playing after my daughter was born. Now that my daughter and son are a bit older, I can enjoy a game every now and then. However, I realized that online gaming wasn't for me, as I just can't keep up with the skill level. So I decided to go with more a single player console, which PS4 seems to have a lot of games for.

So if you are more like me, maybe a PS4? And I'm still pissed that they don't have NCAA Football anymore. I guess I'll have to resort to getting Madden...:(

I'm sort of the same. I went from the 360 to the PS4 because I don't do the online stuff much. I'm much happier with the PS4 and its games. Its all subjective though.

I'll PM you once I set it up. My wife told me that it arrived...I'm still at work.

I got The Last of Us bundle, so I'll be playing that for a bit until I get Fallout 4 and Madden 16. Maybe FIFA as well.
You should wait...

MS basically operates on a "Holiday Cycle" and goes gung-ho around Christmas/Year End to really boost their bottom line. They're lagging badly behind Sony in sales, so the deals announced for Black Friday look pretty tempting - you should be able to get the console and a few games to build out your library for ~$299 (though Sony will drop to $299 this year for BF too).

I also wouldn't be surprised if they keep the $299 pricetag ongoing, they can't compete with the PS4 at price parity.

On the PS4/Xbone thing - they're pretty close. Games look slightly better on PS4 because of better hardware, but MS has been working hard to regain lost ground this generation - meaning good deals for consumers. Look at the libraries and pick the one you prefer and you have friends on.

there's good options on both systems, generally, if you like first person shooters and playing online, go with XBone, if you like adventure/rpg games (and Japanese made games), go with PS4.
For sure

I do more than just game – Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Go, Skype with family, etc. I also have cable TV, love the way it integrates seamlessly with the One guide.

I just bought the one this week after pondering the upgrade from 360 over the past year. Be prepared to have to install all your games to your hard drive; which caught me totally unaware. Also the Backward Capability to play 360 games is limited to certain 360 games none of which I owned for 360 smh.

So far I like Xbox One. I will hit up the GameStop sale this week to snatch a couple of games.

This is exactly my situation. I cannot keep up online with people and frankly it ruins the experience for me. I'd rather just play the single player version of whatever games interest me. Looking at MGS and Last of Us.

very similar to you but I don't even remember ever playing anything on a playstation in my entire life. It would probably be an adjustment.

Nothing better than getting pwn3d by a 12 year old in Call of Duty that's telling you how he's going to bang your mom.
