Huge early season meeting...
16-3-2, 1st in Metropolitan Division
v.
16-4-2, 1st in Atlantic Division
Let's try to continue my winning streak of 1.
Some fond recent memories. Rangers are currently incapable of losing. Not playing well and this is a good team. I will be realistic based on the recent struggles in games that the Rangers have had. Not going to be easy at all.
4-1 Rangers.
So 4-1 is what you deem realistic Seth? They shut us out in the first tilt of the season. You're the ZGiants of Rangers hockey..The ultimate homer. Nice pic of the hockey savant Zuccs.
Still, I'm feeling good about this game. Recent history shows we play them much better in the Garden than up North.
LGR!
Also hope we can take the play to them more consistently, instead of getting a goal and then playing save us Henrik hockey the rest of the way
Nah I was goofing around. 4-1 is obviously an asskicking. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a tough close game and the Rangers will play a different game vs them than we've seen the last couple nights.

3-0 Hank and Zucc.

I can see the Rangers winning, but 8 - 0 would be a surprise. Montreal could lose big if they get down early, like they did to the Avalanche who are terrible.
Montreal's 3rd line is carrying the team. Desharnais, Wiese (who as much as I want to hate for his goofy looking face, he's playing well) and Fleischmann.
Rangers (like the Lightning) are one of the teams whose speed gives the Montreal D problems. Markov is almost 37 and Subban is not a defensive stalwart. that's their #1 pairing.
If Price is on his game he should keep it close (and he has come back from his injury pretty rusty). the Canadiens are without two top 6 forwards, one top D, and their biggest off-season addition and I just don't know if they have the roster depth to handle that.
Rangers are the least injured NHL team so far, if that keeps up they'll be tough to beat.
My prediction, close game, and a thread full of complaining about the refs, whining about Montreal diving, and a whole bunch of misguided testosterone.
I'll do my part.
NYR's defense has really struggled - and for a team with such great speed upfront, their D struggles with faster forwards (Girardi, Staal, and Boyle simply don't have the footspeed). The team's really struggled with the puck in the defensive zone - the Habs have enough speed to capitalize if those struggles continue. Should be a good game.
LOL, I never said I was going out on a limb with my predictions.

agreed, and I predict either the Rangers or Canadians win...
Really? Canadiens Rangers is your favorite sports rivalry?
I don't remember any games from the 70's, but I don't think any Canadiens fans consider the Rangers a rival. Bruins, Maple Leafs, even Senators, but I don't see Rangers come up as a Habs rival.

good piece on Pacioretty, who hails from nearby New Canaan, CT

Carey Price v NYR reg season since 12/13: 7-1, 3 GA/225 shots, 5 SHO, 0.37 GAA, .987 save pct. (At MSG: 2-0, 1 GA/49 shots, 1 SHO).
Fischler picked the Rangers to win the Cup - he also told me before game 5 of the ECF that they'd win last year, so...
The Habs should make it out of their division and into the ECF this year, especially if TB continues to struggle. Really no excuse given how shitty the rest of their division is (which is why I hate they did away with 1-8 seedings... fuck Bettman).
Fuck arc btw.

Wow, any other pre-game excuses? Who is this offseason addition you speak of - Semin? bwahaha. Rangers are playing without Redden - it evens out.
I do love how commenting about the Rangers ridiculous for/against penalties this season = "misguided testosterone." Fuck the French, fuck pj.
Dress Dylan and let the chips fall wherever.

I really think the NHL needs to modify its playoff format. I'd have 3 teams from each division make it, fans do like the playoff rivalries -- but after the division winners, all teams including the wild card, are ranked based on points. So if the 3rd team in the division is worse than the WC team assigned to that division... the 3rd place team drops to 4th and would be away if they face the WC in a later round.
And i'm assuming MTL will end up facing NYI or Pitt in round 1. Their road wont be easy - and unless TB trades Stamkos, which i continue to doubt, then its hard to believe TB won't right its ship at some point and put together a long winning streak... like we've done in december/january the past few years.

Because I grew up in northern NY without cable. We got CBC Hockey Night in Canada off air. So we would have the Habs or Leafs on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It was a thrill when the Rangers were on. It may not be a rivalry in the true sense of the word but it brings back many memories for me.
Good thing the only carry over from that era is pj's sucktitude.
Rangers-Pens...rivalry
Rangers-Caps...rivalry
Rangers-Habs...not so much

No excuses, and the misguided testosterone was my playful commentary on the Rangers fans on here, LOL, not the players. they're fine.
Semin is awful and I prefer he be a healthy scratch.
the off-season acquisition was Zack Kassian (traded Prust and a pick), not a top 6 forward, but they didn't add anyone else (other than the flyer on Semin, and the flyer on Fleischmann) so relatively speaking Kassian was their off-season add)
this post is borderline in the category of misguided testosterone (or semin in this case).
Good thing the only carry over from that era is pj's sucktitude.
it's so obvious you're just jealous because Quinnipiac is #3 in the country (#2 in USA Today poll) and undefeated (with wins over Maine, St. Cloud State (twice), Cornell, Harvard and Dartmouth).

I wouldn't guarantee anyone but the division winner a playoff spot.
I don't think the bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoff picture is as good as it was last year. I think it's slightly more top heavy this year - I think MTL/NYR/WAS are a cut above with TB as a wildcard.
MTL-WAS ECF, with MTL winning the Cup.
Someone mentioned the team's injury luck, which was another good point:
@ManGamesLostNHL
Bottom 10 NHL man-games lost to injury
NYR 6
WSH 9
NSH 19
WPG 31
CHI 36
PIT 37
MTL 38
SJS CBJ LAK 39
I think they have the depth to get through some injuries on D, though.

Probably too early to assess the East. Werent we semi-shitty until December last season?
Enjoy the game you mouthbreathers.

Brett, this is why it's important that McIlrath plays more. Have to expect the injury bug to hit us at some point this season. Same with Etem, although I think we're much better with him not in the lineup.
Just please nothing catastrophic.
Nice bucket of hot wings and some brews. Can't go wrong.
MTL-WAS ECF, with MTL winning the Cup.
Well happy thanksgiving to you too sunshine. Nut up, Hank is due.
And it's way too fucking early in the season to proclaim only 3 good teams in the east. You know what the Penguins record was this time last year? Similar to ours right now. Don't write off the islanders or lightning yet, and we'll see about Detroit too - they've impressed me so far. Good goaltending and some young forwards.
Penguins are the very least better than last years playoff version sans kessell and most of their defense
I heard it, and apparently Lemieux denied it, so it's probably true. So sad.

I picked them to win last year. And they let me down. The trust is broken.
Boston might make a run at a playoff spot too - they're in a wild card spot despite Rask playing terribly.
AP - I saw this article earlier. Mario apparently issued a rebuttal.

I don't think they can win a cup but the talent is certainly there to end our season. Hopefully they or the islanders end up in the Habs bracket.
By the way I could see us finishing first and facing CBJ round one. Don't want that - I want the league to sweep the leg of the jackets
