Okay, back to the Metropolitan Division. Isles made a tremendous amount of hay against the Metro last season (21-6-3). Time to carve out the games that need to be won (of note, though, against the "tougher" West, the Isles are 8-2-1 this season).
Tonight's lineup: Zidlicky back in for Pelech; Bernier in for Beck; Halak between the pipes.
Hickey began skating with the team yesterday and the thinking is he'll be back for the TB game. There was also a Strome mention in a Newsday tweet today:
Cappy says they're keeping an eye on Strome - started slow, showing good practice habits, improving. Thinks they'll evaluate situation soon. |
Ex-Isle news to watch: Kenny Jonsson's health is being closely monitored. He had been diagnosed with an infection in his small intestine, which then resulted in blood poisoning. Jönsson was placed in intensive care, and was also suffering from dehydration and sepsis, a condition that often follows an infection. Get well, KJ.
Mathew Barzal picked up five points (1G, 4A) in three games for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League. The Islanders’ prospect picked up at least one point in each of his three games this week – all wins – to extend his point streak to six games. The Thunderbirds have won six straight games, as well. Barzal leads Seattle with 34 points (6G, 28A) and is currently sixth in WHL scoring.
Meanwhile, in the OHL, Joshua Ho-Sang extended his point-scoring streak to an OHL-best, 13 games. His streak is tied for the longest in the OHL this season.
On the goaltending front, Ilya Sorokin continues an amazing season so far at CSKA Moscow, and now stands at 8-3-1 in 12gp with a 0.97 GAA and a save percentage of .957.
Let's Go Islanders!
It takes some time and trouble
To separate from the stock
You sometimes have to listen to
A lot of useless talk
Let's get back on track boys!
Garth needs to act quickly with Sorokin... I get that he's young and he isn't a priority right now, but the KHL will lock him up.
So, I was watching some WHL this week.. and Barzal was up to his old "assist" tricks.. and when the game was over they interviewed him. Who does he attribute to his play? John Tavares. He was saying how in such a short time of playing with him he realized that despite being the most talented guy on the ice, he's still the hardest worker in and out of the game. Awesome.
CMAC got promoted from the Phantoms to the Flyers..so we'll probably see #13 tonight. I didn't know he was healthy.. the last few Phantoms home games he hasn't played. AMAC has, unfortunately, but not CMAC.
Some guy in my section for the Phantoms has a NYI AMAC jersey. I need a better picture of him, but I think it's random/funny.
I was in high school in the early '00s across the street from Hofstra (on Oak).
Small world (or being that most people here are tri-state area, maybe not?)
PDOCast - ( New Window )
As for possibilities, I think that while Snow has talked about receiving equal value in moving Hamonic, I see other permutations that may see him moved not for a defenseman, but a forward. If it bore itself out that a team wanted Hamonic and was willing to move an Eberle or Duchene type, I'd do it in a second. Because the other shoe dropping is the decent likelihood that Okposo will be moved. If I knew I could move KO for a Dumba, Brodin, Klefbom or Trouba (plus), I can recoup my plug and play d-man right there.
Regardless, thanks for posting and enjoy your testosterone battle royale with pj and his Habs tonight.

no crap!
I was at Hofstra from Sept 1994 - May 1998. I used to go to games Tues/Thurs... buy a cheap student ticket, get a beer and some popcorn and watch good teams beat the Islanders lol
I got to watch some good players (on the other teams).. fucking Millbury
Hopefully the team can overcome the coaching and the Hamonic situation and string together a few wins. Should be a nice crowd at Barclays tonight and the team is well rested so I expect a good effort from the squad.
As for the guys on the farm all I can keep saying is the future is very bright.
Tonight's games we need to win and get ourselves back on a roll. Go Isles!

Hamonic news HAD to have been leaked by another team. If the team knew for a few months and it just leaked now, some other team was trying to create leverage.
Tucker and Roberts can both suck a bag of dicks

The actual outside of the bag?
Each dick to completion?
One suck and on to the next?
It starts tonight, fellas!

LOL. Thanks for getting the reference.
Have fun Mike. I'm jealous!!!
Same here
This team looks lost so far. Zidlicky is terribad.

Yet, he's a constant in the line up. These guys bed a new voice, they've tuned Fred out.
Hopefully, the Isles got their crappy period out of the way and play like they should the last two here.
But you know Cappy wont let the know that...
Huge saves there by Jaro.
Did you see Schenn wailing JT in the head behind the net ? Let's hope it sets him on fire.
Jaro has been big so far. But I can tell you Bernier is hot garbage (and a big reason why Grabbo and Kulie are not producing), Zidlicky is dunzo, Strait is...Strait, and Bailey is MIA. I need to see Boychuk tee a couple up and some more dirty work in the front of the net.
Moron.
I agree with Jones to watch out for Ghost. I have seen a lot of him with the Phantoms. That being said, he said he generates a ton of offence. Ummm 3 points?

My favorite was Zidlicky giving it up behind the net. The smallest amount of pressure and he coughs it up.
Wow. Top shelving it?
Nice.
But I'm happy the islanders took philly apart.
Not even close to the same class. Even with the bafoonary
That being said, I don't care what his GAA is, as long as he has a ton of Ls
I'm shocked they're not blaming global warming
One win is a start.
Happy Thanksgiving lads.
I'm Thankful for a crap load of things...but to keep it on topic, I'm Thankful that I have a good group here to talk Isles hockey with. Enjoy your meals!
I will say I expected a whole lot more out of this team this year. Sitting in the middle of the mess of wild card teams right now is not where I thought we would be.
Whistle Pig for everyone!!!!! Cheers
Bailey - Neilsen - Lee
Grabovski - Strome - Kulemin
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
Leddy - Hamonic
Boychuck - de Haan
Zidlicky - Hickey
Halak
Griess
Damnit that's what I want.
