NFT: Any cool places to take kids for dinenr around xmas in NYC?

MookGiants : 11/25/2015 1:22 pm
Bringing one my nephews and two other younger kids to NYC in a couple weeks to do all the tourist things for christmas, they are ages 6, 7, 10. 2 of them have never been to NYC before so it will be an experience for them. Trying to think of where to go for dinner, any themed restaurants or anything like that worth taking them to?

not really themed, but I take the family to NYC every year in early December to see the lights and walk around, etc.

we go to Carmines every year if we can get in. Obviously touristy, but it's good and we think of it as a NY experience.

if you can't get reservations at Carmines, we've gone to the Virgils in times square and also not themed, but decent food and kid friendly.

people have often recommended Ellen's Stardust Diner to us, not sure how kid friendly it is, but we've never gone.

is always a cool Xmas place. They decorate the whole place like an xmas tree. It like actually being in side of an Xmas free. It is well known though and can get really crowded around that time. It's considered authentic German food so little kids may not understand the menu but I am sure they have something for everyone.

I'm taking my kids to Max Brenners next to Union Square when I take them into the city in 2 weeks to see the tree. It was recommended from a few people and looks pretty cool for kids. Plus, the Union Square market is supposedly great during the holidays.

I remember seeing that during a Giants' Sunday night game vs. the Panthers. I remember thinking that place looked like a cool place to go.

Rolf's is a great place to visit, but the food is terrible. And, I love German food. Stop in for the hot mulled wine, but go somewhere else to eat.

Are they idiots?

Havent been, but hear good things about Eataly. If the kids are adventurous eaters, I'd go get stuff you dont have where you live. My in-laws come in from northern MN once a year and like getting Thai, Indian, regional Chinese, and Spanish food.
The Hustler Club has a pretty good steam table

Walking around Rockefeller Center is usually fun for kids

A lot of the stores in the area used to have their windows all decorated which is nice to look at also.

Does Radio City Music Hall still put on their Christmas shows? If so that might be something good to take them to.

Go to Sugar Factory. I find it obnoxious but the kids will think you are the coolest

Max Brenner is really good but it's pretty straight forward "not fun". You will enjoy it but not sure it fits Mook's needs

Sugar factory is obnoxious, but awesome at the same time. I went to the one in Vegas, didn't even know there was one in NYC.

You could also consider taking them to Dylan's Candy Bar for dessert. They have a chocolate fountain you can get various candy and dip them in or ice cream, and other treats. the kids loved it.
