misdiagnosed neck fracture to our crack medical staff's greatest hits from this season. Looks like until this MRI we were ready to send Donnell onto the field with what may be a broken neck.
Just like we were prepared to play Pugh vs. New England with what now looks like a pretty sever concussion.
But there's nothing to see here, move along.
Between mistaking Pugh's seemingly serious concussion for dehydration
and now possibly missing a neck fracture until the third MRI, it's not a good stretch for the Giants' medical staff.
Fractures in that area can grow over time and be almost impossible to detect without a bone scan. Bone scans are not typical and are a last resort in some cases when pain doesn't dissipate and an MRI doesn't show anything. This isn't bad medical work, this is bad reporting and a lack of medical understanding.

Joey couldn't be more on target..
As if the medical staff actually caused these injuries?
The soft tissue stuff (muscle tears, strains, pulls, etc.) I think raises valid criticisms of our S+C regimen, training staff, etc. But structural issues like this are a different breed, and the Giants are not doing their diagnostic imaging in house.
that this would happen to this guy.....Being a big guy, was a detriment to him, because whenever he had to leave his feet for a catch, he always seemed to come down awkwardly....and with his size/weight, it was just a matter of time....
But let's be honest, not that huge of a loss. Not even close to the loss of Hankins. I think Tye has shown enough promise that he can take over for Donnell. This may open the door for LaCosse who showed promise during training camp. I think a combo of Tye and LaCosse could produce.
containing so many experts in Medical Subjects (MRIs and probable hairline fractures), Training Methods, Player Evaluation, Play Calling, Clock Management, etc., etc.
Life is just wonderful.
But damn if Will Tye doesn't look like he may be the goods.
I love Tye's athleticism. After our stretch with Myers and Donnell, we haven't had a guy that could do damage on his feet after the catch. I hope LD is ok, the guy gets a lot of shit here, but he will be missed in the redzone.

I have direct experience personally and in my family with this type of issue. I'm not claiming anything other than being familiar with a situation nearly identical to this one. Several MRIs after my ex wife was round fracture free, small fractures were found in her transverse process through a bone scan. I ask questions and I read when it comes to this stuff. Passing along personal information in an effort to help others understand what MAY be going on here is not a bad thing. So, let me ask you, why make a dickish statement that offers nothing but whiny critique and provides zero input or help. Peanut gallery members like you are pathetic, you have no opinion to offer only to brush off the input of anyone willing to opine on something publicly. I'm sorry you're too afraid to weigh in with an opinion and would prefer to sit on the sideline and whine like a bitch.
3 disc's fused in my neck, I can tell you the issue of the bone fracture would have been found on a CT Scan not an MRI. I recently had some new tests to check on issues that have been bothering me to make sure that the fusions were in place, fine and that no other disc issues were present. After that came back clear they ordered a CT scan to make sure that the bones fused properly and that nothing was broken.
Perhaps a misuse of the term MRI here but if an MRI came back showing something funky it is very possible that disc issues are present.
Awful for Donnell and us as he still is a decent contributor
Classless for everybody using this thread to take shots at a guy who may have a serious issue.
And at some point, the warning light needs to go off in Reese's head that Tight End position needs to stop being an after-thought.
And save me the speech that the Giants prefer to put value in other draft positions because its gone too far at this point with having the worst TE depth chart in the league.
I just rewatched (several times) the play where it happened against New Orleans (last play of first quarter, 22 yard gain to the 1 yard line).
He made a very nice one hand grab; his body was stretched out; he took some minor contact from the side from a defender. The body contortion that put his head directly into the turf (and it is a direct hit on freeze frame) seemed to come from him, as though he were trying to do a flip without nearly enough room to do it.
When I say "trying" I don't necessarily mean a voluntary choice but something that has been instinctive to him and a legitimate source of concern.
I hope he can recover completely. `
That is bad news. Gave it this best shot and had talent.
As dogged stupidity has been yours. We have several TE in every year; we let Boss walk and it turned out he had a bad concussion history; Ballard destroyed his knee in the Super Bowl and it finished him; we signed Myers who was Oakland's leading receiver, and he didn't work out; we signed Bennett as a free agent, he led all te in receiving last season, but unless you were among the tiny minority here who wanted to re-sign him, you have nothing to say about letting him walk; we spent a #4 on Robinson and drafted Cunningham this season; Donnell, who supposedly sucks according to the experts here, was in the top 10 in receiving for TE last season.
Failing to obtain the all-Pro, all-time TE that you and your ilk keep whining about isn't "ignoring the TE position."

If Donnell is IR'd for the season this week, we have to sign TE Robinson back since he knows the offense. That is my guess but I'm not sure he's available?
Bottom line: youngsters Tye and Cunningham are going to have to step up and play bigger than they have.
but I'm really starting to hate all the jokes and vitriol expressed about him. And it's not just him. BBI has always been a "tough crowd" so to speak. Not always the most welcoming to new members (although that has improved), a very low tolerance for stupidity and poorly thought out threads/ideas. But I've noticed a change in the way many people here regard players and the comments directed towards them. Like the only time these men exist is when they take the field and that the only consequential things they do occur in pads and a helmet. Quite frankly it's at the very least disappointing and at the worst embarrassing.

No doubt. And its the same crowd that loves to wax about how are so much classier as a fanbase.
we have incorporated into our new offense, and with Nicks on board as well; maybe we should think about getting a good blocking TE to keep ELI better protected. That will give some traction to the running game and screens. A specialist like that could be a missing a piece and maybe easier to find. Just a thought.

Ahhh...another name caller, nice way to discuss things.
If it's not evident to you that the FO places more emphasis on other positions, then I can't help you. The same can be said of linebacker....perhaps using the word " ignore" is a little extreme, so I'll re word to say that the FO places more emphasis on other positions. I am not necessarily complaining about it as I realize there are other positions that where the Giants have done very well, WR, etc. Take it easy dude, sorry if somebody pissed in your Cheerios....

Larry Donnell's injury situation disconcerting. Says MRI results were not promising. "I don't know too much. I don't really want to know."
Life is just wonderful.
He's definitely got more speed and coordination.

that catch is not made by most. great throw as well.

CB- Prince FA. McBride/Hosley/Wade all JAGS
FS- we don't have one
WR- can't rely on Cruz/Randle
DE- JPP FA
TE- Tye and Donnellas starters is weaksauce
All priorities. The only good news is we may have answers at the MIKE backer with Brinkley/Unga.
