I'll be drinking some Jack's Abby Kiwi Rising IPL and sipping on some Don Julio 1942 while watching the UConn/Michigan game. What are you guys/gals drinking tonight?
My son came back from Colorado with some New Belgium and O'Dells, beer I cannot get in NJ. Tomorrow is always a special wine day. 1995 Chateau St Jean Cinq Cepage and a 1997 Shafer Cabernet to start. I always like to drink some vintage wine with family to start the holiday. I hope all enjoy and be safe.
some Bulleit bourbon with a ridiculously huge ice cube. I bought this silicon ice cube tray on Amazon. It makes six perfectly cubed chunks of ice that last forever. Dangerous! Tomorrow some Sterling Cabernet that we bought at that vineyard when we were in Napa. It has been laid down for almost a decade. Excited to taste it.
to brine the turkey (I put it in a 5 gallon bucket with brine and ice water at midnight. Not that midnight is late, just the fact I HAVE to stay up until them makes it an important task.
so I have a bottle of Balvenie Single Barrel 15 year old I have been dying to crack open and this is the perfect opportunity.
tomorrow to serve I got a bunch of beers I don't like, but my guests do, Sam Adams winter brew, Harpoon winter warmer, and others in that variety.
I will probably start the day off with a bloody mary (tito's vodka for the price is great by the way and if you're mixing it, why spend more), and then a scotch or bourbon and then finish the day off watching football with maybe 12 - 15 coors lights.
Sadly I'll be working 12 hour shifts the entirety of the holiday

I always found Bulleit bourbon to be way too sweet for my tastes...I'm a Woodford guy myself
Right now a sculpin grapefruit IPA (which is delicious)
Later and all through the weekend - some belle Meade delicious bourbon. I also have some Cuban cigars to go with it.
Lots of wine too. Nothing too fancy there.
Also deep frying a turkey tomorrow. About to bribe and frying in peanut oil.

Happy thanksgiving everyone. Go lions and panthers!
Scotch drinkers, if you haven't tried it, you should. Single pot still Irish whiskey. Smooth.
Tomorrow, champagne all day. Family tradition on Thanksgiving. We crack the first bottle and listen to Alice's Restaurant at noon. A variety of beers when we run out of champagne.
to have for Thanksgiving. Tonight I am finishing off a bottle of Cupcake Black Forest. It's a very good red blend. I might have some egg nog with amaretto later.
E.H. Taylor Single barrel bottle in bond Bourbon
Probably taking shots of Fernet Branca in between courses
Wine with dinner I think I saw Spatlese
Averna with dessert
RE: Just learned that a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 12 Year

Bulleit Rye on the other hand is delicious
We're definitely in agreement. I also prefer the rye and it's only a few dollars more per bottle. But the regular bourbon is OK by me too.

Two awesome wines so long as they have been well stored. I suggest you get them upright immediately if they are not already standing up so you can decant them off any sediment.
My bro arrived today from NJ with 2 bottles of Pinot - one Aussie, one Kiwi - from the vintages 1999 and 2000. Praying that they are indeed still alive. Don't much trust Pinots more than a decade post harvest. (unlike Cabs and Meritages.)
No, you the man.
I've never had Pappy, only the Rip. It's hard to find around here. The bottle of Rip Van Winkle I had picked up, was seriously over priced from a liquor store I don't usually shop at. The bottle of Pappy Van Winkle was not nearly as much, for what I've been told is a better bottle. I'll find out for sure tomorrow, or maybe in about ten minutes.
2013, Pasco Project #2, is a better fit for the bird just by dint of style. It's very, very fruity, but still dry and crisp.
The 2012 I have had some great reports back on lately re how it is showing now, but I'd bet that pairs better with a blackened rib steak or pork chop. The 2012 is a bigger, oakier, more tannic blend.
I was actually hoping you'd give it a shot today, and was rechecking this thread cuz I saw your response...

Happy Thanksgiving my friend!
The family is way too Irish for our own good, so got to fit in.
Throw out the wine, I'm with ya.

Not too sure for cable vision. I know a lot of Connecticut stations were going to air the game one way or another. I know it's being streamed online.

Move into some Pinot Noir with turkey at the table.
And then scotch for some football on the couch afterwards.
Rough day...
Yum
