Mid Season All Rookie Team

gogiants : 11/25/2015 8:17 pm
Mel Kiper has a mid-season all rookie team and two of our rookies, Collins and Flowers, are on it. It says a lot that Flowers is able to start at LT in his rookie year. The article has some stats on Collins that are not bad. Interesting to see other rookies. I see Ali Marpet made the team. That was a name a lot of people on the board were looking to get. Scherff is also on. Scherff and Flowers will be like a mini Eli and Rivers debate. Hopefully Flowers shows better this weekend.

Has been struggling in TB. I know Scherff had a rough early going.

May be a bad year for rookie guards.

doesn't happen all the time..but Flowers good plays are very physical and if he gets more consistent he's going to be really good. Our Ol is getting there....Richberg was playing really well before he got hurt.
I don't know a thing about OL play

but to this untrained eye, Richburg was playing at a pro-bowl level.

Yes, well aware of that fact. Was referring to blue42's comment.
Nice to see two Giants on the list

LT Flowers has held his own for the most part.

I still believe our offense would have really been clicking had Beatty not torn his pectoral and played LT well this year. That would allow Flowers to learn the lesser position of RT where speed is a little less of a problem. Flowers would have been better than Newhouse and Beatty better than Flowers at LT - that is my logic.
This is the first time I haven't seen Kiper

referred to as a moron here, lol
I know alot of folks have criticized Collins over the weeks

But, both of them are only going to get better ... I wouldn't be surprised if they both make the pro-bowl in years 3 or 4.

from your lips to Gods ears! I hope so! We need pro bowl players!
Flowers over Scherf

It's not even a debate at this point. Finding a starting LT quality in the first round is much harder than finding a quality guard. LT is a much more premium position where Eli and Rivers were playing the same position.
Some of us are ready

To cut Collins loose
Not sure this is a good thing

Meanwhile, Collins leads the team with 61 tackles

I would kill for a monster MLB
I still think picking Scherff
mrvax : 11/26/2015 11:07 am : link
with the #5 or so pick in the entire draft is novel. The guy is a guard. Has the NFL changed so much that it is perfectly acceptable to select a guard that low???

Since Flowers is an LOT, he is a lot more valuable than Scherff, IMO.

Collins needs to improve in coverage. I just hope that is something that is coachable. He'll be a very good player if his coverage skills improve.
Collins has not shown anything that
Doomster : 11/26/2015 11:15 am : link
makes you think pro bowl.....his coverage skills are lacking....he is not the heavy hitter as advertised....and his hands are suspect.....

Will he get better? I'm sure he will....but I haven't seen that "flash" where you think this guy is going to be something special.....however, there are still 6 games left, to show it....
Probably more of a debate

Between Flowers and Peat since those were the tackles available. No contest to this point but again super early.
Havenstein

carries on the tradition of Badger OLSs but frankly I thought he had underachieved at UW.

Yeah but that's dumb.
I've been impressed with Flowers.

Learning & playing LT isn't easy, especially if you're a rookie. And I love his fire. He seems like a true gamer.

I'm eh on Collins. I think he'll get better, but he's had his ups & downs. He's a liability right now in coverage & that was the word on him out of Alabama.
