James Jones dropped a TD pass yesterday

aquidneck : 11/27/2015 8:16 am
Would have won the game for the Packers...

Will this be the very last JJ thread ever to grace the pages of BBI?

Just asking because I know we like to chronical his achievements here.
He has a long history of drops
AP in Halfmoon : 11/27/2015 8:21 am : link
But BBI ignores that
James Jones
chris r : 11/27/2015 8:23 am : link
would be the second best WR on the team. A drop doesn't change that.
Fairly certain the cornerback played a role in that "drop"
Jimmy Googs : 11/27/2015 8:30 am : link
but nonetheless, I think James Jones was skunked yesterday by the Bears.

So that helps keep the chuckleheads on BBI at bay a little...
Porter and the conditions made that an incomplete catch
Rjanyg : 11/27/2015 8:41 am : link
Rodgers threw that ball a little behind Jones. Would have been a nice finish to a sloppy game if he caught it.
Yeah...
Chris in Philly : 11/27/2015 8:43 am : link
The CB knocked it out.
Jones
stretch234 : 11/27/2015 8:52 am : link
Reality is he cant get open now, and was unable to get open before. If it was not for Rodgers buying time and his accuracy, he would have nothing to show for it.

Eli does not move like Rodgers and is not as accurate as Rodgers

James Jones'd!!
micky : 11/27/2015 8:57 am : link
.
He had a big 4 weeks
Big Rick in FL : 11/27/2015 9:10 am : link
At the beginning of the season. Since then in his last 7 games he's averaging 39 yards game with 3 TDs. Been shut out twice. Dwayne Harris has more yards & TDs in his last 7 games. Plus he's a beast on special teams & has a game winning kick return for a TD.

Danny Kanell : 11/27/2015 9:13 am : link
Funny what constitutes a drop when you're trying to use it to make a stupid point.

Terrible effort. Terrible execution. Stupid thread.

Randle is better than him.
How many drops did Parker and our other 3rd receivers have?
nygmen84 : 11/27/2015 9:25 am : link
Wayyyy more than Jones.

This is a stupid thread. Jones makes this team better, there is no way to spin it otherwise. It was poor management decision.
Hard to argue
Chicken Teriyaki Boy : 11/27/2015 9:31 am : link
that we wouldn't have been better of with him on our roster. When Preston Parker and Myles White combined have 8 catches and 82 yards on the season.
Yeah ok let's just pretend. That only cost the Pack one game
LauderdaleMatty : 11/27/2015 9:35 am : link
But he also was a big help in wins and how is Parker doing for us.

Great thread. I've now changed my mind. Keeping Parker over him was genius thanks to your awesome point.
hahaha
OBJ_AllDay : 11/27/2015 9:36 am : link
these idiots can't admit how bad jones looks. If he was a giant he would be getting killed on here for his disappearing act in the last 1.5 months of the season and dropping game winning balls. funny how all his fanboys are refusing to acknowledge how bad he looks but are quick to get on guys like donnell, randle and harris who can actually manage to catch atleast a ball a game - something jones struggles to do.
A little off topic,
Big Blue '56 : 11/27/2015 9:41 am : link
but for all those who felt we had no chance in the NFC, it's kinda nice to note that the "invincible" Packers have only ONE less loss than we do and Seattle is tied with us in losses..

A matathon..NEVER a sprint..

agreed but it makes the last second losses hurt even more. This team realistically should be 7-3 at minimum.

Maybe, but I love what Dwayne Harris has brought to this team. He chose to go to GB, move on.
I also love what Harris has done...
EricJ : 11/27/2015 9:50 am : link
and the scary thing is that he would have still been buried behind others if we did not have injuries. He is better than Randle. If Cruz came back, Harris would not have sniffed the field.

He is not. Jones has virtually disappeared the two months. Randle has not, even on bothersome wheels. Randle catches a far higher pct of his targets than Jones who only catches a little more than half his targets on the season and less than half over the last two months during which he has been shut out twice. (Parker caught 63% of his targets in 2014.)

Jones was ok working against the other teams 4th and 5th db's. The minute he had to go up against #2 and #3 db's, he was an iffy proposition.
He sucks
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 10:17 am : link
Rodgers dropped back 45 times. Jones chipped in with ZERO catches.

He's finished. If Rodgers can't get him the ball he would have been even worse with Eli.

Giants didn't miss anything by cutting Jones.
BBI
mdthedream : 11/27/2015 10:18 am : link
is not ignoring that they are just saying he is better than out three or 4th wr. Nothing more nothing less. He would have helped us early on in the season.
He's finished.
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 10:29 am : link
He isn't better than Harris or Randle. Not close.

The guy can't get open. He wouldn't have helped.

He has 1 less TD than Beckham. Jones may have lost a step but he's still been pretty good on contested balls this season.
He had a good game last week.

Yes he is and his numbers bare that out. He'd immediately be the second best WR on the team.
I was so close to posting this thread last night.
Geomon : 11/27/2015 10:34 am : link
He dropped the fucking game winner too.
He's a big part of the problem
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 10:36 am : link
In GB this year. No question about it.

Watch what happens next year. They won't even ask him to return.

You're clueless on this subject. That is the only explanation.
Why can't we let this go?

2nd best WR on the Giants is a tallest midget contest. Nicks might be the 2nd best WR and he came off his couch and might not be active or catch any passes.

not saying they shouldn't have kept Jones, only that being the Giants 2nd best WR isn't that impressive.
Jones is not better than Randle
mfsd : 11/27/2015 10:50 am : link
and he's a different type of receiver than Harris. It's really silly to continue this debate at this point

Where we miss Jones is when OBJ and/or Randle have been out, or if they go out again, which is why we're bringing back Nicks to hopefully provide insurance
RE: ... love what Harris has done..
Trainmaster : 11/27/2015 12:03 pm : link
One thing about a WR that is a punt or kick returner, they tend to have a lot of YAC as they are usually elusive in the open field.
What does Jones game have to do with Harris?
Matt M. : 11/27/2015 2:46 pm : link
Harris, as our primary KR and PR was making the team no matter what. The issue, even before the season, was cutting Jones in favor of Parker. Then when you factor in that Cruz was hurt and Randle was hobbled, it makes less sense. Regardless of his history, Jones was our only consistent WR this summer. He ran good routes and caught everything thrown to him, while Parker looked like crap and looked even worse once the season started. It has been a fair criticism, even with the way Jones has slowed down.
We have people
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 3:05 pm : link
Saying Jones would be En2nd best WR on the team now. That's what it has to do with Harris.

Jones is terrible. Teams double Cobb and leave Jones and Adams in single coverage and Jones rarely sees the ball. Why? Because the guy can't get open.

Vs DET he was on their scrub CB and couldn't get open. Rodgers threw the ball more in that game than any game in his career. 60 passes. He didn't throw it to Jones even one time. Adams had 20+ targets. Jones 0. The reason? Jones couldn't beat the garbage CB on the Lions.

We didn't miss anything with Jones. He would have been useless on the Giants.
he's been open enough
Enzo : 11/27/2015 3:29 pm : link
to be on pace for 44/861 with 10 TDs this year - better overall production than every guy on our roster aside from Beckham. Amazing that such a lousy player is outplaying studs like Harris and Randle!
"Better production"
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 3:46 pm : link
Give me a break. This isn't baseball.

He's playing with the best QB in the NFL and they had a lot of injuries at WR. His "production" blows.

Jones will be out of the league next year.

truly stellar analysis. Nobody is saying this guy is a star, but your comments about him are ridiculous. As was the Giants' decision to do him a favor or whatever the fuck the reason was.

He asked to be released, they obliged him. How is that ridiculous? Do you feel they should have held him here against his will?

You guys need to get over this...That is what is ridiculous around here, your inability to let this go. He wasn't a great loss, he gets no separation. Move on with your life
Anyone who thinks Jones...
OBJ_AllDay : 11/27/2015 6:31 pm : link
has done well the last month and a half either needs their head examined or doesn't know football. One poster wisely pointed out that his only production comes when rodgers is scrambling on a broken play. This guy has nothing left. He had been held to 0 catches in multiple games this year. A lot of people here though seem like they want to hop in the shower with the man.
Enzo
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 6:40 pm : link
What was your analysis? You projected his numbers over 16 games. You posted nothing but a useless comment that says nothing about the player.

I explained his problem and why he's hurting the Packers and why he would not help the NYG.

My comments about his
KWALL2 : 11/27/2015 6:45 pm : link
Inability to get open is on the money. Teams are leaving him matched up with losers and he can't get open. He couldn't shake the Lions backup CB who's been a shipping boy all year long.

#2 and #3 Wrs have lit up the Lions this year but Jones didn't see even one pass his way the entire game. 60 passes. 0 targets.

Meanwhile the struggling Adams sees 22 passes in the same game.

Why is that?

Because Jones can't get open with below avg cbs sticking him. It's been an issue for 2 months.

Nothing ridiculous here except some guy who isn't watching rolling out projected stats as some kind of point about production for a WR.
