...what an underrated band. I have a boxed set of all of Sly & Family Stones albums and listened to a lot of the later discs on a road trip to FLA in September and they have a ton of innovative music that was ahead of its time besides all the big hits we oldsters know so well.

Here's the best dance music played at Woodstock, with Cynthia indeed on the throne:

the Sly wedding gig at msg in the mid 70s. Phenomenal - so ahead of his time.
I so enjoyed

this band. "I want to take you higher" at Woodstock was unbelievable music. RIP to a great band member.

I saw this Wednesday. Sad indeed.

Last time I saw Cynthia was at BB Kings WITH Sly and Jerry. One of my musical hilights ever. She brought it like usual, and Sly was both WITH it and awesome for the first show. He even did an impromptu jam. Unreal.

She was a great woman, always with a smile and a hello.

RIP Cynthia. You were not only a legend, but the real spirit in one of the greatest bands of all time.

Saw them at MSG in the early 70's
