An MRI taken Wednesday did not reveal any serious long-term damage, according to another person briefed on the situation. But Donnell is still likely to miss at least four games.
He's not a very good player. Inconsistent hands. Mediocre blocker. Never met a hash mark he didn't want to tumble over. We really need to revamp this position in the offseason.
there are not a lot of dominant TE's. You have the first tier and Rob Gronkowski... then a huge drop off to the second tier with the Witten's, Kelce's, Olsen's, Eifert's, Bennett's and Graham's. Then you fall of the table with the rest of the bunch... Cook, Donnell, Fleener, Davis.
I hope they don't fuck around like they did with Cruz and just IR Donnell. No need to waste a roster spot waiting for him. Call up LaCosse and just give the keys to Tye.

I agree they just need to IR him and either bring somebody in now to learn the playbook or call up LaCosse I have a strange feeling they will try to hope he comes back for the playoffs and of course we know how it will work out for them.
If he's expected to miss (at least) four games and the Giants have six regular season games remaining...and up to four additional games in the playoffs, why would they IR him?
What street FA TE could they bring in now that would make a difference?
...before the playoffs, they shouldn't IR him. No guarantee that Tye and Cunningham were stay healthy and so even if you don't like Donnell any more than those two UFA's, it still makes sense to keep him around as insurance for a Super Bowl run.
But as an undrafted project he has been an unqualified success relative to his cost - if paired with a more complete TE, he should have (could still have) a very useful career.
Giants TE Larry Donnell (neck) says, Im in pretty rough shape. Its gonna be a while before I can play again.
Do we really think Reese addresses this position next year? I doubt it..
He's on a role with them.
