Just got the following email:

PROPOSAL FOR CONSIDERATION. I am B. Komeng, Director, Aviation Security (GHANA AIRPORT COMPANY) in Greater Accra field International Airport West Africa, During one of my investigation I discovered An abandoned shipment of two Metallic Trunk Boxes that was transferred from US International Airport (JFK) back to our Airport facility here in Accra Ghana and when scanned it revealed an undisclosed Funds and about 50Kilos of Gold in Metal Trunk Boxes weighing approximately 50 and 40kg each. These consignments was abandoned because the Content was not properly declared by the delivery shipping agent as above mentioned items rather it was declared as personal effect to avoid diversion and tax. On my assumption, the very box that contains Funds amounted US$5.Five Million United States of American Dollars and the consignments are still left in the Storage House till today. Friend, I want you and I to transact this deal together and share the profit together since the shipper has abandoned it and ran away due to improper declaration and improper documentation. I want front you as the beneficiary and Consignee to these boxes, As you can see, I am still an officer with airport company, I cannot be found to be associated with these consignment hence I cannot call for its delivery, if it is discovered that I have a particular interest in these consignments, it will be seized by Government indefinitely. I can arrange for the boxes to be moved out of this Airport to your address if you agreed to accept the delivery and we work together in procuring necessary legal paperwork to back you up as the legal beneficiary, once we are through I will deploy the services of a secured shipping Company geared to provide the security it needs to deliver these consignments to your address. I am willing to work with you on the understanding of a partnership basis, We shall share the profit 50% 50% upon the completion of this transaction, I can assure you of no trouble in this transaction and my guarantee to you is that we can actualize our goal within four working days if we can work in one accord also to be honest with you, we can only work in partnership to realize this goal, reasons being that as I have stated above to you that one of the very crucial reasons why they agent failed in having the consignments delivered was due to the improper documentation. Thanks. B. Komeng. Email me back at: col.elijah.michael@gmail.com

Just emailed him and after he charges my AMEX $5000 I get the 2.5 million!!

Now I can finally finish my NY Giants man cave..!!

BBI posters have done this exact same thread at least a half dozen times already.

Have you had any original thoughts today that you'd like to share?

No need for more fiber. Thanks for asking.

Have you not read this same thread multiple times before?

I mean if he's trying to be funny, can't he at least try to be original too?
Jim, the others were different.

The others were from Kenya or Nigeria.

Can't you see how different that is?

and I get a message from US Treasury. David Gray calling to tell me I need to call him to avoid going before a Federal Magistrate.
Ignoring will mean intentional 2nd attempt to avoid issue before magistrate judge for criminal offense. He states ?Call me to let us help you " For only $5000, I can have all my alleged legal woes with the IRS disappear. Probably because I did not claim my Nigerian lottery winnings from last year!

Good humor doesn't have an expiration date. This is comedic gold whether it is the British Lottery, or the misfortunes of the Nigerian Prince. It's the same with large thumbs, Germans, and the legend of Tommer.
Sadly enough

many people fall for these scams. My sister-in-law, was a cyber detective. Many senior citizens are victims of these types of fraud. The reason why these emails are constantly sent out is because people are duped into falling for these.
Good!

I get phone calls from people with Indian accents...
BamaBlue : 11/27/2015 2:49 pm : link
they ask me if I have a computer in my house, then tell me that it's not working properly. The scam is that they get you to go to their site and get you to allow them remote access to your computer.

I love to torture these scammers. The last time they called, I told the guy, "Does your Mother know that you do this for a living? I'm sure she told you that you'd be special and be a good person. So, here you are scamming people. Your Mother would be ashamed of you. You're a disgrace to your Mother and to your family." This guy absolutely loses it... goes into an incontrollable swearing tirade in English and Hindi for about a minute, then hangs up on me. Maybe I changed a life...!?

I get this one too. It always starts out with a man saying " This is the computer department" in an Indian accent. Last time I told them that I had shot my computer because there were voices coming from it. They hang up. I think I will use the guilt angle next time.

you must have given them our number!!

Except they originally worked it a bit differently: through some site or other (and I suspect BBI ): ), this scammer outfit was able to hack my PC and insert a dialogue box saying in effect Microsoft has detected a critical error that threatens the kernal with a phone number to call, putatively Microsoft. Except it's not.

That weekend I talked with a buddy of mine who is the IT officer at a small company and he recommended install of Kaspersky security package, which I did. So, every six months these guys call and ask if I have made changes to my computer (because they can't hack it any more), and I politely say that I have. Alternately, they call on weekends saying they had "repaired" my 'puter and have a check refund. So our line is please send us the check thank you very much. Very annoying, invasive shit.

A friend, a very sophisticated woman who was exporting everything from Cadillacs to bowling alleys to Turkey, invited me to participate with her in one of these schemes.

It took me awhile to talk her out of it. Strange.
I had this in my Junk Mail

I'm not sure what is worse, the bad grammar or the idea that the FBI would be giving me 10 million dollars from the US....do people really fall for this crap?

I've gotten a few of those computer department calls
Matt M. : 11/27/2015 5:29 pm : link
The last time I calmly responded that I am aware this is a scam and ask how they'd like to proceed. The guy apologized and hung up. Every time it is a number in Minnesota that can't actually be traced to anyone. I tried reporting it to the FBI, but that is a lengthy process and they are already aware.

To me, the scams claiming to be the IRS are worse. I think a lot of people actually fall victim to these.

You sir, are a fucking racist asshole too stupid to realize that most Indians (86%) are something other than Muslims.

I can't say you're wrong on the ignorant part: while I'm a live-and-let-live type who generally stays away from topics of religion, I know little about any of the organized religions and I am perplexed as to why so many people buy into it.

As for the racist part? I was polite the first few times when this started @8 months ago and told them that I don't know anything about Microsoft (that's part of their intro pitch) as I'm an Apple user, and that I am on the Do Not Call list, yet still they persist, and we are bothered twice a week--usually at dinner--by these calls. While I've tried to be nice in spite of the fact that an unsolicited caller continually tries to scam me, it reaches a point where all bets are off.

I am sincerely sorry if I have offended anyone, however.

Thanks for your post GrunningsOnTheHill. It took courage. I was careless when I called you a racist. Sloppy and maybe not accurate. Similar to your carelessness in lumping all Indians together as Muslims. They are not.

Not can Muslims be blamed as the source of all one's problems from existential fear to inconvenience at the dinner table. Whether some asshole in another country is trying to scam you or not. (Where did you even get the idea that the scammers were Muslims?)

Another poster suggested that he engages these types of a-holes in a conversation about their mothers. That struck me as kind or clever. Or maybe just ask them to hold the phone second and then wait forever if necessary until they finally hang up.

Sucks about the do-not-call list. I'm on it myself and filled out the on-line complaint form numerous times, yet still got frequent out-of-country originated offers "to reduce my credit card interest rates" despite my telling them over and over I was on the list and that it was illegal to call me.

As for the part about not understanging the religion, it doesn't matter, does it? It's not your religion. You don't have to practice or understand it.

Anyway, thanks again for your post. I do appreciate it.
