the "inside" information I was getting was wrong .I was told 8 LEOs were shot when only 5 were. It will be days and weeks until the entire story comes out.
I suspect that the comment was based upon the lies and misinformation spread about Planned Parenthood. There is a lot of hate out there and there are too many people who try and take advantage of that.

In a 10 mile radius from where I live here in WV I would bet that there are oh, easily 10,000 guns. My father in law owns at least 5. There are probably at least as many "Christian Fundamentalists" (whatever that is) although quite frankly some of them do scare me for various reasons. Number of gun murders last year in this area? A liberal (pardon the pun) estimate? 3 And the one that I can recall was a family "somebody is screwing around with my wife" murder. Some of the liberals in the comments above with the "Christian fundamentalist white guys are all racists and murderers who love guns" please explain to me why I, and many others of all persuasions around here, am still alive?

Right, we know who has the toughest gun laws in the country and what their crime situation is.
My opinion on the topic is this....
Gun OWNERSHIP/PURCHASE laws should not be managed by state and should be federal. One set of laws that are applied to every state to prevent someone from buying a gun at a yard sale in Alabama and then driving those guns to another state for re-sale.
Unlawful use of a gun laws are what need to be amped up. Violent crimes with a gun gets you locked up forever with no parole. At the same time, reduce the sentences for lesser crimes (like smoking weed) to free up space for these serious offenders.
Unlawful use - IMO this would extend to the person who owns the gun in the event that the gun was given to a friend, taken from your closet by your kid, etc. Lock it up or be prepared to do the time....forever.

I was with you until the last sentence. There are laws broken every day. Murder, theft, rape, going over the speed limit, etc. Should we get rid of all laws . Didn't congress vote down a bill to make it harder for a suspected terrorist to get a gun. Same thing with gun free zones. Chicago, Baltimore, Denver etc are not islands thousands of miles away from the other gun friendly states.
