"debut" yes, starting, that's not said in the video anywhere.
Agreed. Really poor headline. In fact, I'd say that video doesn't even show he will get a significant number of snaps.
I'll tell you what though ... If someone told me 3 years ago we would have Cruz and Nicks on the roster but our #1 receiver is better than both I would of said that's unstoppable. Strange how a few years can change everything.
But the guy hasn't been bad at all since second half of last season. Ok he didn't make the huge difficult catch against the saints down the stretch but he's had a decent year catching the ball and he is clearly playing through injury. If nicks starts its because Randle is hurt not due to ineffectiveness.
in fact I don't even really believe the SNY report/headline that Nicks will start. But that is what they printed. If Randle loses snaps to Nicks during the first week of Nick's return to the team, we can think any number of the following.
1. Randle is still hurt
2. The Coaches have seen enough
3. Nicks fits the offense and is better than we thought
I think the truth is closer to what was posted above. The Giants want to use more 3 and 4 WR sets, especially with the issues at TE. Also, as good as Harris has been, they need to manage his snaps given his importance on special teams.
It's a very misleading SNY headline in my opinion, which is why I used the ? in the title. But you have to think where there is smoke there is at least a little fire.
is going to add another positive dimension to our receiving corps. I think he (Hakeem) needed the change of scenery and reuniting with Eli, just a hunch. RR is hurting and if you've played with tendinitis, it is a bear and depending on severity, can be as bad as a ham string, ahhh, worse. Sometimes it comes and goes, other times it is constant. It's the constant version that precipitates running out of bounds, pulling up on routes and rounding off patterns. I had the intermittant version behind both knees as an IM hurdler and WR in college and believe me, it wreaks havoc on your performance. Getting into a cold whirpool post contest, I'd rather have root canal!
he hasn't been good in years, one of those years he was here. he was cut by a team earlier this year that isn't exactly flush in WRs. I would be pleasantly surprised if he was anything more than injury insurance for randle.
and for those comparing him to james jones, james jones had a decent year LAST year. Nicks hasn't had a year like that in years.
and if he is so good all of a sudden again, why has nobody signed him prior to now?
I'm as hopeful as the rest of you that maybe he turns out to be good again, but that would be a huge surprise.
it could change everything for this team. His rapport with Eli is well known, if they end up clicking and he does decent it could make the world of difference for us the rest of the season.
But some good comments in the video that make one wonder. Eli said Nicks is "running well." First time in years, maybe?
OBJ with a funny ha ha about his meeting Nicks and comparing their freakishly large hands. Odell's are 10 inches, and Nicks' 10.5 inches.

Other than the fact that it would leave a huge hole in the lineup, I half hope Randle gets a big offer and gets away from this team's dopey fanbase.

should just never post again. For all our sake?
Amen.

I would not be happy if we let a still very young Randle go..I believe he could play at a 2nd or 3rd receiver level for many years..

I agree. There are not that many #2 WRs that are clearly better than RR. I just wish the young man was healthy.
we never really needed to "replace" cruz because we never had him to begin with. so putting him on IR didn't mean we had to sign another WR

Total BS.

Well let's see what he can do for us.
That said, Vereen should be out there in the slot too.

Freaks!

How does a street player push a starter?
