Time to stop fucking around, end this shitty display of the past few games/weeks, and beat these inferior stains. 10 game MSG regular season winning streak against philly on the line today.

Raanta in net. Stepan - get well buddy, I would assume Hayes centers the 2nd line.

Kreider - any time you're ready to contribute buddy.
Oh and I'm on my way to MSG
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 12:30 pm : link
And expect to be entertained and sing goal songs. Don't let me down.
AV ripping Marchand and Julien
NYerInMA : 11/28/2015 12:32 pm : link
as well he should for yesterday's antics. I hope we beat their asses when they play again on January 11th.
Any suspensions
sphinx : 11/28/2015 12:41 pm : link
from yesterday announced yet?

The only thing I know about is the league
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 12:47 pm : link
Might suspend Dubinsky for cross checking Crosby. A 2 minute minor hockey play nothing more. But it's Crosby so the league has called a hearing. Meanwhile Crosby will spear and slew next game no problem.
Rangers first hint of adversity this season...
Torrag : 11/28/2015 1:00 pm : link
...this club has responded incredibly well to these types of circumstances in recent times. They've prevented losing clusters from taking hold as a malaise. We'll see what this group has inside.

As it turns out Hank is mortal after all and now it's time for the rest of the guys to carry the play for a while.

Etem was arguably our best player the other night he deserves more ice.

Lindberg is a find, he's a complete player at both ends of the ice.

It seems we can't get all our defensemen performing together at a high level so far. Girardi's and Yandle's 5v5 play has improved as Staal's game takes a nosedive and Boyle has a stinker v nashville.

Our overall depth as a roster is the best in the NHl imo. If/when we can get our entire roster contributing at once we'll tear teams a new one.

LGR!

“Well, (the Rangers public relations staff) filled me in a little bit on what was said after the game,” Vigneault said. “I mean it’s a little disappointing. Obviously everybody saw the knee to the head. The comments on Hank were very inappropriate. The way Hank conducts himself, on the ice, away from the rink, off the ice, the example that he sets. Who would you rather have as a son, Henrik Lundqvist or Brad Marchand? For him to say things like that about Hank, totally wrong, and probably Claude is getting a little older and needs to check his eyesight.”

AV throwing some shade.

BrettNYG10 : 11/28/2015 1:05 pm : link
AV actually said Sedin, not Lundqvist. Lol
AV is a leader
Torrag : 11/28/2015 1:14 pm : link
He prefers to stay above board but when it's appropriate he speaks the truth and has his teams back.

This group hasn't broken through and hoisted the Cup yet but it needs to be said more often that it's a pleasure to root for a winning organization that carries itself the way these guy. Both on and off the ice and that extends to the guys behind the bench.
Good start for the Rangers

Good offensive zone time, getting chances.
I assume Schenn will get an instigating penalty?

How often is Staal going to throw the puck up the opposite boards
BrettNYG10 : 11/28/2015 2:11 pm : link
Without looking? Same with Girardi and him failing to chip the puck up the boards when trying to clear the zone?
I don't blame Schenn
Vanzetti : 11/28/2015 2:38 pm : link
He was sticking up for his teammate

But he got his ass whipped by DM, who is turning into a good d-man (apart from the fighting)
Fuck.
BrettNYG10 : 11/28/2015 2:50 pm : link
Bad play by Klein there.
Dmen are going to fuck up from time to time
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 2:56 pm : link
Our offense is completely out of sinc today. Could be 0-3 right now without raanta. We are in some kind of funk right now. Wake the fuck up
Beyond words what a pitiful period
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 3:05 pm : link
18-7 shots against people focus on staal and Girardi my focus is on Kreider at this point. He is really starting to piss me off. Complete non factor this year
.
BrettNYG10 : 11/28/2015 3:11 pm : link
Kreider's getting the game tying goal, Girardi is getting the GW.
Sounds good

MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 3:34 pm : link
Leads team in minutes today. Losing streaks suck but what's concerning about this one was how bad we've been playing before it began

At what point does gorton pull the trigger even if 2015-2016 isn't in mind ? This just isn't working with this bunch for whatever the reason.
Hey, where's Seth to lecture us about how awesome the team is?
Greg from LI : 11/28/2015 3:38 pm : link
I notice he's been quite scarce lately, which just proves that silver linings do exist.
It took until December 8th for the team to turn it around last year.
BrettNYG10 : 11/28/2015 3:39 pm : link
It's frustrating and I think there are some real issues, but I'm willing to be patient.
Rangers fell asleep after the first period

@Pat_Pickens: Flyers outshot the Rangers 30-14 over the final 40 minutes

I was told the only reason other teams outshot the Rangers was because they had leads, though.
Two of the last 3 games were outright ass-kickings
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 4:16 pm : link
The Boston game was a white hot power play and then a team that wanted it far more in the final 3 minutes

Bottom line is this team has been completely lost for weeks. I think gorton alluded to it in preseason when he said he was hamstung. I think he has wanted to deal some guys for months but can't because of NMCs

Between that and the initial rumors Girardi was going to AZ in the Yandle deal from Krypeos, I suspect Gorton has wanted to shake up the D. But there's probably a disconnect between AV and management given the usage of the dmen.

Somewhat related: The 2014 deadline decisions were an absolute disaster.

Duguay just suggested bringing Glass back up Lololol

Rangers outshot the Habs 34-25 and lost 5-1.

So there you go.

They accumulated those once it was a blowout. In a close two goal game they were unable to generate shots, indicating the inability to generate shots/puck possession is an issue - something that many points out even during the win streak.

MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 5:04 pm : link
This simply is not a playoff team so far this year. I don't care what the record is I would bet heavily against it come April like the Avalanche two years ago

I hope it's just guys like Kreider staal and Girardi off to ungodly starts but gorton has to at some point identify if our D corps window has passed. i fear it might have - we can absorb one of Girardi and staal dropping off a cliff. We can't absorb both.

Mcilraith needs to play every night enough fucking around this situation is fairly dire - if we can't somehow see what he has and upgrade this back end hank isn't winning a cup. I really don't care anymore if staal feelings are hurt. We keep punishing Boyle but staal was the worst player on the ice for either team today (again)

How is
Jay in Toronto : 11/28/2015 5:13 pm : link

We've all chimed in on the sustainability of our results...
Torrag : 11/28/2015 5:16 pm : link
...given our poor play on the back end and horrible possession numbers. It was only a matter of time until those chickens came home to roost.

Now the question is how do we get on track. Smarter hockey minds than those here on BBI will have to solve that one.

I will say this though I'm not worried about making the playoffs. The combination of Hank's presence and the points already accumulate makes the Avalanche comp a poor one. Talk about hitting the panic button prematurely.
I'm not sure if you are a poor reader
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 5:27 pm : link
Or drunk. I forgive you

The Avalanche made the playoffs two years ago. With similar metrics that we have today. We will likely make the playoffs because of Hank. He has in fact only missed once in his brilliant 10 year career (on a shootout in game 82).

My point was what we've seen year to date cannot contend. Not possible we all thought the defense would be solid as always and Kreider would be a superstar and get us to the next level. Hasn't happened. If I were Kreider and I saw what kutnetsov was doing I'd be embarrassed right now
Dubinsky gets a game
MetsAreBack : 11/28/2015 7:19 pm : link
Honestly I hope CBJ loses in regulation because of it but what a joke this league is. Really tired of 87 and 8 getting special treatment. They both commit dirty plays as much as happens against them but nothing.
dunno if it was MAB or Brett
ColHowPepper : 11/28/2015 7:41 pm : link
before or during the Bruins' game thread, but the castigating mention made was about careless, blind flicks of the puck (i.e. back toward Lundquist coming out near their own blue line, or even behind the net), and damned if giveaways just like that didn't happen twice or three times, Staal, Girardi, and only good fortune that those didn't become goals against. Hard to tell if it's lack of focus and effort, guys being complacent, or what. Beyond that, the crease in Lundquist's end has become Grand Central Station, late and soft.
According to SNY
NYerInMA : 11/28/2015 11:49 pm : link
Beleskey wasn't suspended or fined for the hit on Stepan because the league clocked the delay between Stepan getting rid of the puck and the hit at 0.7 seconds, which is below the league's standard of 0.8 seconds for a late hit. Surprising, since every other timing I've seen has the delay at 1.0 seconds.
SNY Rangers - ( New Window )
It was obvious they had to have a let down at some point
baadbill : 11/29/2015 2:16 am : link
after such a long win streak, but it's who they've lost to, and how, that is so disturbing. They've gone from the group that was having the best start in franchise history, to a team that is struggling to find an identity.
What I've noticed
blueblood'11 : 11/29/2015 7:35 am : link
in this recent slide teams are coming in extremely heavy on the forecheck in the Rangers zone not giving them the time to move quickly and use thier speed. What teams are finding is the Rangers have not been able to handle the added pressure and it keeps them trapped in their own zone as the opposition continues to work.

Also, they suddenly look slow on defense and seem tentative when teams are on the forecheck. The Nashville game was a prime example. They just kept coming rip shit or bust. And fortunately the Rangers made them pay. I think if teams continue to press the issue the Rangers need to know those opportunities will be there and need to take advantage and make them pay.

I thought they played better against the Bruins all the way around but in the late stages of the third period Boston just pressed the issue and it is in those situations the Rangers have not been very good here of late. They make bad reads that lead to bad passes and Lundqvist can stand on his head only so much. Hopefully they'll come out of this and soon.
