Giants-Skins: We'll find out a lot about players

Eric from BBI : Admin : 11/28/2015 11:45 pm
Aside from Manning, does this team have players on it that years from now we'll look back on say, "He was a New York Giant" because of the way he played in big games?

Charlie Conerly, Frank Gifford, Sam Huff, Andy Robustelli, Phil Simms, Mark Bavaro, LT, Leonard Marshall, Brandon Jacobs, Amani Toomer, Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, and many more...including guys in the trenches and lesser known players. They made big plays in big games.

Are there any future football heroes in this group? Will they shine or wilt under the pressure?

It's all there for them on Sunday. Let's get this done.
why arent you giving the pregame speech morrow?

I agree...injuries happen people need to step up! Heros are made in these big games!
Play as a team
AnnapolisMike : 11/29/2015 12:12 am : link
Win as a team. Will these guys play for each other and feed off each others success.. There have been other big games in recent years and the Giants has come up small. Does that change tomorrow? A win and the early season losses are forgotten. Lose and those last minute collapses will likely have cost this team dearly.

Cruz four years ago gave us a 99 yard touchdown that launched our Super Bowl run in a must win game. While this is not a mathematical must win game, it's as close as you can get. Will there be similar plays that launch a run? I hope so.

Even with a win there is work to do. But it must start tomorrow.
Eric, just an excellant characterization of what makes ...

a NY Giant fan a fan and a NY Giant player a memorable player.

The other lightning in a bottle play was Bradshaw vs. the Bills in 2007 as a light snow started falling. It's a little early in the season for a LITB play based on 2007 and 2011. I just want a win. They don't need tomorrow to be a seminal moment, just a W.

Eric, ODB has all the tools to be that player as everyone here knows. He screwed the pooch vs. the Pats and owned up to it. I think he is going to be hyper focused tomorrow and ready to do some damage.
Rested.

Plenty of time to prepare. Plenty of starters on the field. IMHO we will play well tomorrow, especially in the second half, and finally create some separation in the east. I believe we will finish strong and go in to the playoffs with some momentum. We have barely lost all but one and now the odds are in our favor for some of those breaks to go our way. The next game is the best game. Let's Go Giants.
This game feels a lot like the 2000 matchup

in Washington late in the season. The Giants were 8-4 going into this game and the Redskins were 7-5. A Giants win and they take control of the division. A Redskins win and they are tied in the division and it's a toss up. The Giants played an insane defensive game and Washington came up short (literally) on an Eddie Murray field goal and the Giants won 9-7. I don't think either defense is as good as those were at the time, but I have a feeling that we will see a same result with the Giants coming out of here with a win and in control.
The talking heads

have already started to pick against us this week. Good! Just like we like it.

Time for the team to demonstrate they are of one will and finish off the Redskins. This Giants team has some toughness in them, They don't quit.

In the words of the poet William Ernest Henley

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Agreed. We also have OBJ, DRC, and Prince. I think we win.
Was Jacobs a big game player?

I remember he trucked Woodson and got a big 4th down conversion vs the Pats but don't remember any huge games from him in big spots.
I would add...

JPP to your list Eric...Giants don't win it in 2011 without him...but I'm not worried about the D in this one....by a wide, wide margin, the biggest concern is the middle of the Oline.
Not a great effort from anyone

in the first half. That was ugly
