Because the Oline is in shambles right now and even with a loss, we are still tied for first in the Division. We can still win the Division, even with a loss today, that's why they should bother! It's an indictment of the NFC East as a whole - Washington wins and they'll be two 5-6 teams at the top?! But that doesn't mean they should just cash in the remainder of the season. Get Pugh and Richburg back in the lineup and then I think the offense will be something to contend with.

turnovers aren't what's killing us. It's that we can't control the LOS, especially on defense. We can't stop the run, and aren't generating any pass rush pressure.
It didn't get better over night, we are not going to win games with three possessions and no points, two drives stalled on their side of the field. We just have to be better than that.

This team really lacks talent all over the place. Safeties, cornerback depth, linebackers, d-line all lack talent. On offense the TE position, running backs and o-line all have issues. I think it is time for him and Ross to go.

makeshift OL means the Redskins can get pressure with just four or five, meaning they can drop everyone else back in coverage. That helps protect their secondary.

I don't think you can blame this all on OL, but we didn't know Schwartz would break his leg and we would have to did even deeper to the bench

Today, though, I am ready to burst. That was the worst half they've played all year. After 2 turnovers, they blitz and force Cousins to throw early. After that, they settle in with a 4 man rush that gets no pressure and give him all day. Then, we get beat over the top of a S yet again. How in the world do we constantly have our S underneath a deep ball down the middle? Every F-ing week?
And, how did DRC not catch that INT? Even with 2 picks, Washington was looking dead in the water and we just completely fell apart. Damn this D is BAD. Agree that Eli has a mountain of issues to overcome. He still needs to know when the play clock is running down and to hit his WRs when they do get open. With everything you said, we cannot afford for Eli to have an off game.
That being said, the big problem today (and this season) is really our defense.
If you want to point to any other offensive issues it will be this..
1. play calling sucks...period. Not impressed at all with McAdoo. Looks great when playing a team with no defense like New Orleans. When faced with adversity, we look like this.
2. This RB rotation is a really bad idea. In our first four possessions today, we featured four different RBs. Nobody has a chance to get into a groove and IMO it is harder for the O-line. They need to sit Williams and only bring him in when there is an injury.
Even if you take into account all these injuries, he's not playing like a 20M player. Even when he has time to throw, he's making bad reads and throws.

One INT was on Vereen. The other was nearly intercepted before Harris touched it, so that one is still on Eli. And the weekly delay of game penalty this week was embarrassing. How does he not know the clock is at 2 when he is stepping up to change the play?

Belichick used to make adjustments all the time during halftime in the 80's.
And he deserves a ot of criticism. But, I still think most of this game is on the D. They stopped making plays and stopped getting pressure after the first 2 series. They dropped a sure INT. And they got beat deep in the middle yet again.

Agree that Eli has a mountain of issues to overcome. He still needs to know when the play clock is running down and to hit his WRs when they do get open. With everything you said, we cannot afford for Eli to have an off game.
That being said, the big problem today (and this season) is really our defense.
If you want to point to any other offensive issues it will be this..
1. play calling sucks...period. Not impressed at all with McAdoo. Looks great when playing a team with no defense like New Orleans. When faced with adversity, we look like this.
2. This RB rotation is a really bad idea. In our first four possessions today, we featured four different RBs. Nobody has a chance to get into a groove and IMO it is harder for the O-line. They need to sit Williams and only bring him in when there is an injury.
