The NFC East sucks, so they're still not dead even if it's an up hill climb.
The thing that bugs me most is that as undermanned talent-wise as they are, they also seemed completely unprepared again.
The effort is there, they're clearly trying even if they're fucking it up, but theywerent ready at all and that's a coaching issue -- specifically a Tom Coughlin issue.
Can blame injuries all we want, but there's plenty of other players on that field who are suppose to be half decent.
We show nothing on offense, and defense making cousins look like Tom Brady.
Eli needs to stop trying to hit OBJ on every play its so obvious!
Good thing is I might be seeing the Giants over here next season after all!
Is the Giants almost beat the best team in the league last week, then come back to this performance against one of the weakest teams in the league?! 2 weeks to prepare? Smh.. bad coaching..
But the sloppy play, miscommunications (even with 2 weeks to prepare) and mental mistakes, are consistent with this team. Thats a problem that's not being corrected.
We, on the other hand are totally unprepared. Getting outplayed, out coached. We have seen this countless times. But injuries will excuse all of this I'm sure.
of defenses/defensive lines they have to finish the season. They'll be lucky if they win one of the remaining 5 which in all honesty is the best scenario for their future. Feel bad for Eli who's facing yet another lost season.
With all the injuries. Gotta revamp this team in the off season. Need players that can stay on the field. Playing horrible besides.need de dt s lb oline and rb
We will see a mad scramble in he second half that will most likely fall jet a bit short. How can a team show so little after two weeks to prepare this is not about the players it's about the ability to inspire and prepare a team to perform and play with passion.
of football operations, I would clean house, everything from the training staff to the coaches to the front office and its scouts. Just clean the stench off and start fresh. Maybe Ernie can help us in the GM search.
We, on the other hand are totally unprepared. Getting outplayed, out coached. We have seen this countless times. But injuries will excuse all of this I'm sure.

It's a combo of 03, 06 and 2010. This season fucking sucks as much as one could possibly suck. The only saving grace is Philly and Dallas suck even worse but we aren't winning this division even though she all but begged the Giants to take it. Skins will win it. And we get to listen to the no playoffs for X amount of years narrative for another year.
lack of talent gets more blame than lack of preparation. Nobody can win with Newhouse, Reynolds and Jerry. especially with Schwartz going down unexpectedly. The Pugh and Richburg injuries fucked us at the absolute wrong time.

I mostly agree with this. Though you would expect better with 2 weeks to prepare.
It's getting to that time where changes are necessary. Four years is enough loyalty. It should be division or shake up. There is still time for all to earn their jobs for next year, but it's time to EARN it. Injuries are part of the game and all teams are hurt. There is no excuse. But the fact that our team is consistently has more players missing year after year some blame should be put on medical staff, trainers and if the right players are being drafted. Loyalty goes so far. People are getting paid big dollars to produce in all facets of the organization. It's put up or shut up.
Between the missed opportunities to close out multiple wins by both the players and coaches and the epidemic of injuries throughout the roster what the fuck else can go wrong.
I have no idea what the future holds for any aspect of this franchise. At this point ownership is justified in making dramatic changes in all facets if they choose to do so. That includes in the front offices, coaching staff and roster.
As the saying goes it's a shit sandwich and everyone is going to have to take a bite.
...they got me again...thought they would take hold of the division today...they all sucked, from Eli down, what exactly did they work on for 2 weeks? Terrible execution in all phases, can't wait for Tom to take blame while passively blaming everyone else. Oh well.
and we have the penalty tacked on, we start at the 30 with more time on the clock. Those first couple of plays would have gotten us around mid field, where we can take a shot deep or with a little extra time, run one more play to the sideline first.
Even with the injuries, you have wonder why collectively the roster is so stupid.
Fielding a punt inside your own two
Losing a key timeout b/c only 10 men on the field
Running the wrong pattern if you're a receiver
Not bumping the TE off the LOS
Late hit on the QB
The list is long every week. The team is just dumb
Lets not let the 4th quarter cloud how terrible this game was
If every player on a team is this braindead, something ain't right.
You know, the Giants have never been a smart team under TC. They have fight, they don't quit and are generally prepared... but they have never been that "smart" team...
The small things seem to slip through the cracks, this season it cost the Giants many losses.
My favorite part is that Quinn still has a job. I think the only way he loses his job is if he stabs Eli on camera and Eli misses a game. Probably not enough if he just stabs him but Eli plays the next game.
RE: RE: That Harris play on the final punt is just another example of how
If every player on a team is this braindead, something ain't right.
This the special team coach who needs to remind the player that they are going for the block. Therefore don't catch the ball
The stupid isn't exactly contained to STs though, so we can't just point the finger at Quinn.
Pretty much every player on this team is apt to choose the stupidest route. It goes back to how unprepared they seem to often be, even if they're out there fighting and are usually undermanned.
I got to watch the last 5 minutes after the Vikings game switched over.
So I can only comment on
Beckham is God
Teams should press Beckham, have a safety over the top and a guy ten yards off the line shading him so he is forced to the sideline. It's not like will Tye, the run game, or Randle is going to beat teams consistently.
Landon Collins is a great run defender - maybe a linebacker someday? Unless the Giants get a great coverage safety and another corner he will be exposed in the passing game.
Craig Dahl blows
Harris made an unbelievably stupid decision that cost the Giants at least 13 yards.
The defense needs a dominant defensive lineman. Maybe someone is healthy or steps up next year. A rookie ain't solving this.
The fact that we were able to score 2 TD's and it was not enough. Mostly because Eli threw 3 picks, and should have thrown 3 more.
Eli ended the game by overthrowing a pass. He threw a lateral over both his players heads.
Washington sucks. They barely won a game, where we the other team played like a bunch a bitches.
Washington shows us to manager the clock with 5 minutes left. If we knew how to do this, this game would have been meaningless.
Tough pill to swallow today. Not just because we lost, but after the last two years, it is obvious this team is not getting better.
If you're going to say Eli should have thrown "three more" (which is silly), you should at least recognize that he only should have thrown one of the three he actually did (and even that one is debatable, though I do put it on him).
?!?!? are you fucking kidding me?!?! make dahl play center field put collins on reed...best on best not best on a srub ass safety who is lucky to be on a roster
Division road game isn't one you write down as a win. If DRC makes that pick 6 in the first half, if Vereen doesn't look up field before bobbling the ball and giving the Washington team an INT, if Eli doesn't through the pick in the end zone (a truly stupefyingly dumb throw)...
Can't really remember a season where we had more of these "could have been..." games where two or three plays swung us from victory to defeat. We're close, but the margin for error is so slim and we just don't seem to have the players.
Just a fucking travesty. Which leaves us all in the position to be rooting for Dallas against Washington next week. However the Giants can still go 10-6. They won't of course, but there is that to keep our hopes alive just enough to crush them later.
lack of talent gets more blame than lack of preparation. Nobody can win with Newhouse, Reynolds and Jerry. especially with Schwartz going down unexpectedly. The Pugh and Richburg injuries fucked us at the absolute wrong time.
SHO, i don't think those guys were the problem, yes they got beat up a bit but...
Eli through a dumb pass for 1 int.
Vereen drops the ball for 1 int.
Randle gets lazy on a route for int 3 and we lose 7 points.
players don't seem to. After the game - players seemed more concerned swapping gloves& jerseys, taking selfies, and getting to the prayer circle than they cared about losing a game that may cost them sole division lead. team has no heart, no soul.
lack of talent notwithstanding - typical inconsistency you seem with TC's teams.
LIterally only 2 men on the field with a clear intense desire to win the game. There were others but only 2 made it clear what a win meant. Rueben Randle is the JR Smith of the Giants.
How much blame goes to TC for not having these guys ready to play?
I actually think he must have been obsessively preparing them to play. Not saying you never blame the coach but when a guy drops a pick six in his hands, or a vet RB who is a superb catching RB turns to run up field before catching the ball, and Rueben Randle doesn't know how to run a slant route in the endzone, at what point do you just say these players did not do their damn jobs.
Even with the injuries, you have wonder why collectively the roster is so stupid.

But, I think this loss and the last few, have more to do with this defense. They blitzed for pressure to get Cousins to rush throws on the first 2 possessions. Then they were content to play the rest of the half with a 4 man rush and let Cousins sit in a clean pocket...just like every F-ing week. Then, they had their weekly play of a S getting caught underneath a WR on a deep play down the middle. These consistent plays week in and week out are inexplicable. Then the 4th Qaurter FG allowed. A weeky stupid roughing the passer. Then they can't even get a hand on Reed. Forget about the catch and run. They can't get a fucking hand on him to disrupt the timing. And after a dismal day, with an outside chance, they let the Skins kill most of the clock.
How much blame goes to TC for not having these guys ready to play?
All of it. You would think with that amount of time they could put up well executed game, not so. Very embarrassing. Shit we cannot even take advantage of all the gifting we have gotten this season, points from turnovers, beckham big plays, and 2 weeks prep time to close out a division opponent. Geez beat this guys and few others and we can literally back into the NFC east champion. Gutless bunch.
Giants have car. and minny. 2 wins that are tough to ask for. So least 8 losses. Philly as shitty as they are, and I just can't even then trust the giants to win that considering how they are (injuries and mistakes) that's 9 losses. 7-9 win div? With tiebreaker to Washington now?
Harris is the Best Signing We Have Made in a Long Time ..
good thing we have our $17 million special
Enzo : 4:16 pm : link : reply
teams ace back to field punts! What a fucking joke.
The Special Teams Coach Needs to go Over the situation
Before He steps on the Field ....
The Defense Can't Make stops when it Needs to ...
The Offense Looks Pretty Boring until we are behind .
Randle Redeemed himself to an Extent But Allowing
the DB step in Front for the Pick was a Killer
Bromley's so called late hit was lame while
Eli was Slammed time and time again ...
Look at the Final Play Two Guys Destroy him after
he releases the Ball cross Field game can't end on
a defensive penalty .....
We came out flat and never recovered sure we all
blame the Defense well deserved but they were on
the field the entire 1st half ...
Lastly we shouldn't lose to this bunch of Jack asses .
As if every other team is not dealing with injuries. Hence the term "Team".
We did not lose this game because of injuries, we lost because our collective "Team" was not better then the other "Team".
Tough pill to swallow, because we all want to see this team win. We have many good pieces, but we are not going to get lucky here, the lack of depth will haunt us.
we couldn't get any consistent play from the rest of our offensive skill players. Randle with the one lucky TD and the rest of the dayhe sucked ass. Harris gets hit and gives up the INT and then makes a bone head play at the end of the game catching the punt instead of letting it bounce out and that would up had us at the 25 with a little better field position.
Rashard Jennings does nothing, same for Andre Williams, both useless which may be due to our shitty oline but still. We really needed Vereen to make some plays and maybe bust one. Our o skill players suck.
Blame Eli but he had little to work with and that oline was getting him killled.
He still stood tall especially on that one 4th down play where he hung in there and stepped up into the pocket trusting our shitty oline. He just has a good sense of the pocket.
I don't blame Eli for this shit fest our oline and skill players aside from OBJ suck.
I said it before, we didn'w show up to play. Washington did. Beckham gave it his all, as did JPP and Price. Can't say anything about rest of the O or rest of the D. The team had fun together in the hot tub earlier in the week but didn't bring their A game or B game or even C minus game. Washington beat the crap out of us, despite the score.

all of it? Like...he was playing? I honestly don't think this luntic obsessive compulsive coach we have could have been more clear about being focused and ready and prepared, and then they came out and didn't do their jobs. In games like this I can't see how any coach wouldn't have their team prepared. The ramifications are obvious. They have to go out and not shit the bed. They did't collectively have enough with the injuries and the fuckups to win the game.

Ummm when 3/5 of your starting ol are injured. It is injuries plus prone to mistakes by team and etc
Hey but everything is cool. We are still in the playoff hunt.....
Fuck that shit! This team routinely shows up small in big games. I can't believe how poorly they played. Year three of mediocrity and more and more holes to fill.
schwartz's career as a Giant is done. We still need to fix the right side of the OL.

It seems like we have actually managed to get things moving in a slightly better direction only to find out that the same problems that were relegating us to mediocrity in seasons past, still haven't been solved. These flat performances are going to limit this team for as long as they keep happening. Has anyone seen anything from Coughlin over the past 7-8 seasons that suggests that is going to change? I think it is really time to move on before it is too late for eli. I mean if we still haven;'t moved past this then we have pretty much a 10 win cap on any season we go into and that assumes that everything else goes our way (which this season it most certainly hasn't).
and take a massive post thanksgiving dump. Maybe I'll cry a little. Squeeze out that turkey and gravy and pumkin pie, gallon of gravy I ate.
I've got to shit out this loss and cleanse my bowels from the shit fest that the giants just made me watch.
I said that this was a put up or shut up game.
In fact it was a DID NOT SHOW UP GAME. I hope this is enough for Mara so that Reese and Caughlin do not show up next year.
They force it to him and he's good enough to produce, but its not terrible efficient. They need someone to make teams pay for all the attention they give Beckham.
Schwartz never really recovered - now he's gone and more importantly Beatty never came back. Wonder what the offense might have done minus those two losses, especially Beatty
The problem is that the strides we've made are not nearly enough!
This year has always had -- and still does-- the look and feel of a re- building year.
We need more talent at LOS both sides of the ball!
This game is one of those barometers you use to gauge progress. You want to see a team show up play tough and aggressive make plays and void mental mistakes. That would give you confidence things are improving and the turn around is gainingg traction. This game was clearly a step backwards
Coughlin's biggest mistake was not handing the ball off to Jennings
I always hear about how the Giants draft a certain personality and stay away from the bad seeds, but do we also have a propensity to draft stupid players, or is it the coaching staff that doesn't prepare them accordingly?
We are good for AT LEAST 2 "what the hell are you thinking?" plays/penalties a week. Today it was more...
Puts the players on the field. The lack of depth is alarming. Despite that TC had them playing tough. Reese needs to go immediately if not sooner. He's an inept empty suit.
Players say this type of thing every time they lose. Someday fans will realize it and not put much credence to it.
They didn't lose because lack of effort and fire today -- they clearly were giving it whatever they had. They lost because they were undermanned, seemingly unprepared idiots.
Do you just view everything like some sort of robot with a black option and a white option? I don't care you think the "excuses" are legit. At some point excuses become reasons. You just are one of these people who sees a bad loss and says fire people. YOu think TC just ho hummed his way through these 2 weeks? The guy probably drummed the importance of the game into the team a thousand times a day. You can't force grown men who are pro athletes to play with focus and desire.
that Coughlin did everything he could to prepare the team to win this game. Now, one can argue that the scheme was wrong but lets table that for a minute.
If he did everything he could but the players are unable to execute, then is this really coming down to roster building and player selection? I know there are injuries, but the players who are making the mistakes (or not making the plays) are the starters.
We have Randle who has always played like an undrafted free agent and not like a guy we should have spent a high draft pick on. BBI want to dump Collins already although I am not giving up on him. Our TE situation is the bed that we made. We really don't have a starting #1 RB on this team. The O-line was patchwork coming into the season even before injuries.
Leadership... we really don't have any. Especially on defense. Yes, Eli is a leader but we also need someone like Strahan who would make others accountable. There is no heart.
but ti may give us a chance to see what Hart can do.
Hart played a good game today, curious to see more. I would like to see him replace Newhouse when Richberg and/or Pugh return.
I'm so tired of Schwartz has he EVER been healthy since he was signed here? Please part ways with him and Beason and Cruz has now not played in over a year. Time to make a decision with him.
Pugh now has a concussion history and Newhouse is back-up material at best.
And I was never a fan of Schwartz to begin with.
The reality of the situation is as I told Colin (and everyone else) is that WR's are a lot easier to replace and develop then Linemen, on either side of the ball.
Harris has been arguably out-playing the other WR's and he was a ST signing.
We, on the other hand are totally unprepared. Getting outplayed, out coached. We have seen this countless times. But injuries will excuse all of this I'm sure.
Injuries are real things that have a direct impact on the level play. If players didn't matter why bother with a draft?
and of course injuries do matter as reasons not excuses when they are at positions like O Line and D Line and QB. The Giants don't have a TE...think they could use a good one? They had 4th string OL today and 32 yards rushing. Eli literally had no running game to confuse a defense. THey have no LB's. THey have a thin D-Line. And they have guys all over the field dropping balls. So yeah it's a problem that the roster is missing key players and key positions.

This Giants team has the worst Defensive line of any Giants team in the last 10-15 years and it's not even close. A complete overhaul is needed except for Hankins and Wynn as a rotational player. They should sign both Kerrigan and Curry this off season.
The team didn't lose because of a lack of desire. They had repeated sloppy play and had some of their mediocre players (Hosley, Meriweather) get beat with injury replacements underperforming. A lot of blame to go around. Lack of desire isn't one of them.
?!?!? are you fucking kidding me?!?! make dahl play center field put collins on reed...best on best not best on a srub ass safety who is lucky to be on a roster
Would have probably been ok, if he could have gotten a jam on him, but Reed is like a WR and Dhal is just not fleet a foot!
Puts the players on the field. The lack of depth is alarming. Despite that TC had them playing tough. Reese needs to go immediately if not sooner. He's an inept empty suit.
as well. Kid is the same size as Randle, but he actually plays tough. You need to see what he has at this point, because Randle has played himself off the team in the future. Just way to soft, he would do better in canada or in arena football.
This team needs a new coach and some new staff.I'm still of the persuasion that Reese deserves to pick the next HC. The point remains that the Giants have been their own biggest obstacle over the past couple years, this team shoots itself in the foot way to often, and makes poor decisions always at critical moments. They play undiciplined, and I've had enough of it.

Desire was there mostly...intensity not as much. Think about this for a second...
On a day when we ran 13 times, and Eli threw 51 times, Ruben Randle had one catch. 1 catch by your number 2 receiver out of 51 passes.
But can this team please bring in a talented RB next season? No more fucking journeymen or scat backs or grinders. I'm sick of this shit. They tried with wikson and failed. Try again for fucks sake.

He seems to lack focus and discipline. It's very frustrating.
The biggest game of their season and the Jints showed up small!
There are so many things wrong with this team one of which is the play calling. Slamming RB's into the middle of the line behind second string slugs just won't work! No pass rush and refusing to blitz, is Spags afraid to get beat deep?
The way the Jints use Vereen is criminal, go back and watch the films from his time with the Pats! Seasons not over by a long shot, but this game today made the hill look like a mountain.
the first inexcusable stupid play of the day was Eli once again letting the play clock run out. Has there ever been a pro team in HISTORY who had more problems with what should be a simple thing????? One of many problems that never seems to get fixed.
Making the playoffs is going to be tough. If The Redskins go 3-2 , we would have to go 4-1, to win division. They have two games against romp less cowboys, so that is 2 right there. With our schedule, it is looking bleek.
Main reason the Giants were 5-5 was their big +12 in turnovers. Today their luck changed. Two deflected passes went right to Redskins. Eli throws another pick at a bad time that was on him. And DRC couldn't hold on to a pick six.
Don't blame the Giants too much for this game. Skins were lucky to get two picks bu deflections.
The defense is still mostly young and inexperienced. When things start to go wrong, it doesn't have the experience under fire to keep its cool and confidence.

I agree with you hole heartedly about the Dline, however Kerrigan is probably not the answer as he's a LB in a 3-4, unless you think he could make the switch to a 4-3, if we are still paying a 4-3'next year that is.

I'd like to see more of Davis as well. He also plays ST. But the fact that Nicks was active and he was not could be an indication that the coaches don't think he's ready.
Team TC has out there sucks.
I have concerns on Pughs health; GS and MN were non factors this year; our D is non descript. and scares nobody.
For most of the year they looked like the better of the '64-81 teams.
And we are a NFL -level slow team. And we may have FO&HC changes.
Not to mention the eminent medical and training staffs.
And Goodell is not stepping in to turn this around.
It took 6 drafts for JR to finally address OL and he still avoids LBs and TEs like the plague.
This mess is on JR. and staff. With contributions from coaching and players.
Randle doesn't get throws his way on a regular basis. people here have said it, game announcers have said it. the coaches have said it (they have to force Eli to look Randle's way). Eli simply doesn't like Randle as a receiver. I don't blame Randle for getting lazy. If you get open as much as people say Randle does, and not get thrown to, you could get a bit lackadaisical.
And Tye (yes Tye 6-74) and no one else doing shit! Randle 1 catch, Davis is not ready? A sixth rounder not ready? But Tye an undrafted FA is balling? Problem I have there is soooooo much to do this offseason, with evaluations, and needed player signings and I don't know if we have the right guys in place. JR waiting to sign players at bargain basement discounts is not going to cut it. We need so much we need to be aggressive and a new coach who can bring some talent with him would help. Frustrated I got nothing else but Frustrated!

Remember that Tye's numbers were inflated by the last drive or so.
Damage was already done.

What? You don't blame him for being lazy?
There is no defending randle. He flat out sucks. Face reality my friend.
Maybe eli doesn't like throwing to randle because he sucks and runs lazy routes and the route incorrectly.
Daryl Johnston even pointed it out. We all can see it. Randle ran the route too short and the ball went over his head. He is out of place consistently and the ball is coming but he's in the wrong spot.
Sounds like you don't want to blame randle but eli instead.
The defense was bad and still managed to make the game winnable with a professional effort by the offense. I honestly don't even give a shit about Schwartz... he's earned less of his money than any FA I can remember in a long time. The Skins punked the receivers by playing tight man to man and daring them to get open. On the rare occasions they did, Eli didn't see them.
PLEASE REPLACE ALL 3 STARTING LBs.
DRC misses one motherf'n series and it's 1 play because Hosley gives up a bomb. What a useless player.
Hosley, Donnell, and Randle's continued presence on this team is such a massive indictment of the depth/talent on this roster.
because this team still refuses to address the two positions that matter most in the 2015/2016 NFL, linebacker and TE. Until those positions are addressed, they will lose games like this and live like the rest of the 7 win teams, hoping for another team to lose instead of winning.
So where are the Giants holes at for this off season?
Offense:
RG, RT, TE, WR2 need new players who aren't on the roster.
Defense:
LE, RE, DT, Weakside LB, Middle LB, FS need replacements who aren't on the roster. Prince is injury prone. DRC is a warrior but I'd imagine he's going to start breaking down. The cupboard is bare beyond them.
These losses would be easier to take if there was intriguing young talent waiting in the wings or experiencing a learning curve (collins, flowers for example). There are so many holes on this roster that they'll have to start from scratch with new bodies. What a mess.
I thought this was his best game. He is an in-the-box safety in the NFL, and the team needs a true FS to pair with him.
Collins is having a decent rookie year. The problem isn't so much, him, as it is that they have no FS. They are all SS on this roster. Merriweather has done a decent overall job this season, but once or twice a game either he or Collins is exposed in a coverage that neither would normally be asked to make.
RE: A completely pathetic performance by the team.

The real fault on that bomb, though, was Merriweather. He took a terrible angle and was underneath Jackson on a deep ball. If he takes a deep angle, he could potentially be there to defend the pass. Instead, he takes an angle underneath the play and is then playing catch up. At this point, it has happened to a handful of different S and a CB or two on this team. I think it is a coaching issue.
yet Washington won this game only by 6 points.
If I was one of their coaches and/or fans, that would be a big red flare to me.
The Giants dug too big of a hole early in this game to dig themselves out of, and didn't have the Oline to make the comeback either.
If Pugh and Richburg can't comeback and play effectively next week, this pattern may repeat itself.
The Giants didn't dig too big a hole early. The two INTs sucked, but they walked away 0-0 from them. They stopped blitzing in the 2nd quarter on D and went away from Jennings and Vereen, which was working a bit early.
but not so much his playcalling and personnel moves. This RB by committee is stupid already. Jennings opened the game looking decent, as did Vereen. Then, they get backed up and insert Williams for no good reason. He is the worst RB on the team and has not excelled in short yardage, so at this stage of the season WTF does he bring to the table backed up near the end zone? If you are going to switch, at least go with Darkwa. But, I say why switch at all?

Merriweather is no rookie......It's a matter of talent, or in the case of the Giants, lack thereof....there is not one good free safety on this team......we didn't get one in the offseason, or in the draft(and please, don't tell me Berhe or Thompson was the answer), to fill this roster...
The fact that this isn't a rookie we are talking about and that it has happened every week with about 5 or 6 different players, I think this is a problem with a scheme.
I didn't really hear his name, which is usually a good thing when a deep reserve OL is in a game. But, then again, that could just be the result of Newhouse completely shitting the bed when he was in.
Doomster: It's hard to assess the team's planning at free safety...
...when the first three options all went down before the season started.

Skepticism about Berhe is justified, and I doubt Thompson would have been ready for prime time either. The guy Merritt seemed highest on was Bennett Jackson. Granted, he was coming off microfracture surgery and a position change, but he was the starter when he went down. Neither Berhe nor Thompson ever really got into the picture.

It looks like Hosley was supposed to bump Jackson near/at the LOS, but instead, he gets a free release. I'm not saying Meriweather is without blame, but it's no coincidence that the Skins hit their lone big downfield pass THE SECOND Hosley entered the game in place of a starter.
Leave...quick.
The thing that bugs me most is that as undermanned talent-wise as they are, they also seemed completely unprepared again.
The effort is there, they're clearly trying even if they're fucking it up, but theywerent ready at all and that's a coaching issue -- specifically a Tom Coughlin issue.
We show nothing on offense, and defense making cousins look like Tom Brady.
Eli needs to stop trying to hit OBJ on every play its so obvious!
Good thing is I might be seeing the Giants over here next season after all!
You should stick to the game threads.
They just suck that much I guess
That's all I got.
Nicks trying to take his starting job. Randle is really useless.
Watkins coming out party 🎉 💃 🎈
Watkins coming out party 🎉 💃 🎈
What does this have to do with anything?
Again.
Today there is only one bad team on the field
Agree 100000%
Lots, but that wasn't on. Eli has been throwing into coverage all day. He's been fucking terrible.
Face it, Eli is not in this game, he is somewhere else, and this loss is on him. This defense is not that good. 3 Picks and zero points, what a joke.

It looked like just a bad decision but did Moose just say it was on RR?
what is the score?
Ya, this is horrible. Its unbelievable how flat they look i mean be professionals jesus and sadly Eli is leading the way.
What a mess.

This is on Coughlin and McAdoo. 2 weeks to prepare and pathetic performance. They could have scripted the first 10-15 plays with all that time.
This team is not physical.
So done.
very true
Eli hasn't lost a single game to injury, I don't think we can use that as an excuse at all.
Yep! Should have been 2nd 10
I mostly agree with this. Though you would expect better with 2 weeks to prepare.
I have no idea what the future holds for any aspect of this franchise. At this point ownership is justified in making dramatic changes in all facets if they choose to do so. That includes in the front offices, coaching staff and roster.
As the saying goes it's a shit sandwich and everyone is going to have to take a bite.
obviously giants need a talent infusion there... but this loss is not on the D.
The offense was terrible until the 4th qtr.. too little too late.
I almost wish we were blown out.
If every player on a team is this braindead, something ain't right.
I almost wish we were blown out.
We were. Don't let score fool you.
I almost wish we were blown out.
This wasn't a heart breaker
bring on the Jets
Schedule blows going forward. What a fuckin waste. Had it in their hands until kickoff.
totally shocking that its not enough to produce a W.
If every player on a team is this braindead, something ain't right.
This the special team coach who needs to remind the player that they are going for the block. Therefore don't catch the ball
Fielding a punt inside your own two
Losing a key timeout b/c only 10 men on the field
Running the wrong pattern if you're a receiver
Not bumping the TE off the LOS
Late hit on the QB
The list is long every week. The team is just dumb
Generally-speaking, these types of mistakes and brain farts are on the coaching staff.
If every player on a team is this braindead, something ain't right.
You know, the Giants have never been a smart team under TC. They have fight, they don't quit and are generally prepared... but they have never been that "smart" team...
The small things seem to slip through the cracks, this season it cost the Giants many losses.

collectively stupid this team is.

The stupid isn't exactly contained to STs though, so we can't just point the finger at Quinn.
Pretty much every player on this team is apt to choose the stupidest route. It goes back to how unprepared they seem to often be, even if they're out there fighting and are usually undermanned.
Didnt u post this yesterday ?
Eli ended the game by overthrowing a pass. He threw a lateral over both his players heads.

If you're going to say Eli should have thrown "three more" (which is silly), you should at least recognize that he only should have thrown one of the three he actually did (and even that one is debatable, though I do put it on him).

You are not very knowledgeable about football are you..?
Can't really remember a season where we had more of these "could have been..." games where two or three plays swung us from victory to defeat. We're close, but the margin for error is so slim and we just don't seem to have the players.
Hurts to look at this shit fest.
OBJ is fucking great but him and ELI can't do it all.
SHO, i don't think those guys were the problem, yes they got beat up a bit but...
Eli through a dumb pass for 1 int.
Vereen drops the ball for 1 int.
Randle gets lazy on a route for int 3 and we lose 7 points.
Self imposed mistakes.... gave the game away.
He did win that game against Dallas for us...
lack of talent notwithstanding - typical inconsistency you seem with TC's teams.
LIterally only 2 men on the field with a clear intense desire to win the game. There were others but only 2 made it clear what a win meant. Rueben Randle is the JR Smith of the Giants.

Dropped balls, tipped balls (mental errors evey week).
really? Sort of seemed all too familiar to me.
Carolina is a definite loss as well.
Gutless bunch.

teams ace back to field punts!
We did not lose this game because of injuries, we lost because our collective "Team" was not better then the other "Team".
Tough pill to swallow, because we all want to see this team win. We have many good pieces, but we are not going to get lucky here, the lack of depth will haunt us.

Ummm when 3/5 of your starting ol are injured. It is injuries plus prone to mistakes by team and etc
Fuck that shit! This team routinely shows up small in big games. I can't believe how poorly they played. Year three of mediocrity and more and more holes to fill.
schwartz's career as a Giant is done. We still need to fix the right side of the OL.
We need a FS and CBs
We need another WR opposite of OBJ
We need a RB with some speed and consistency
And by God do we need a pass rush and another DT

More excuses, when results are needed.
I've got to shit out this loss and cleanse my bowels from the shit fest that the giants just made me watch.
In fact it was a DID NOT SHOW UP GAME. I hope this is enough for Mara so that Reese and Caughlin do not show up next year.
The one and only good news out of today is that they'll find out what they have in Hart before the season is over.
They force it to him and he's good enough to produce, but its not terrible efficient. They need someone to make teams pay for all the attention they give Beckham.
The problem is that the strides we've made are not nearly enough!
This year has always had -- and still does-- the look and feel of a re- building year.
We need more talent at LOS both sides of the ball!
THe kid has hearty and passion. I can't say that about the rest of the offense. Rashard jENNINGS? HE SUCKS SO DOES aNDRE wILLIAMS.
sad, this is one of those games where you wish Parcells was standing on the sideline. He would not put up with this shit.
Wish we had that extra TO with two minutes left
thats what odell said, not me.

This game is one of those barometers you use to gauge progress. You want to see a team show up play tough and aggressive make plays and void mental mistakes. That would give you confidence things are improving and the turn around is gainingg traction. This game was clearly a step backwards
We are good for AT LEAST 2 "what the hell are you thinking?" plays/penalties a week. Today it was more...
The one and only good news out of today is that they'll find out what they have in Hart before the season is over.

Collins was very good today in the box.
I lol'd.
Hart played a good game today, curious to see more. I would like to see him replace Newhouse when Richberg and/or Pugh return.
Players say this type of thing every time they lose. Someday fans will realize it and not put much credence to it.
They didn't lose because lack of effort and fire today -- they clearly were giving it whatever they had. They lost because they were undermanned, seemingly unprepared idiots.

I'm so tired of Schwartz has he EVER been healthy since he was signed here? Please part ways with him and Beason and Cruz has now not played in over a year. Time to make a decision with him.
And I was never a fan of Schwartz to begin with.
The reality of the situation is as I told Colin (and everyone else) is that WR's are a lot easier to replace and develop then Linemen, on either side of the ball.
Harris has been arguably out-playing the other WR's and he was a ST signing.
Injuries are real things that have a direct impact on the level play. If players didn't matter why bother with a draft?

This Giants team has the worst Defensive line of any Giants team in the last 10-15 years and it's not even close. A complete overhaul is needed except for Hankins and Wynn as a rotational player. They should sign both Kerrigan and Curry this off season.
Then try our luck against Minnesota and the dead and out Eagles
We will lose vs Carolina
Would have probably been ok, if he could have gotten a jam on him, but Reed is like a WR and Dhal is just not fleet a foot!
maybe reese needs to put them back on notice.
Quote:
The team didn't lose because of a lack of desire. They had repeated sloppy play and had some of their mediocre players (Hosley, Meriweather) get beat with injury replacements underperforming. A lot of blame to go around. Lack of desire isn't one of them.

He seems to lack focus and discipline. It's very frustrating.
The way the Jints use Vereen is criminal, go back and watch the films from his time with the Pats! Seasons not over by a long shot, but this game today made the hill look like a mountain.
RR has played himself out of a future contract with this team, he is just way to soft for the NFL.

I thought this was his best game. He is an in-the-box safety in the NFL, and the team needs a true FS to pair with him.
The Schwartz injury compounded the interior problems.
Would have though a more uptempo spread attack would have been the solution.
Offense:
RG, RT, TE, WR2 need new players who aren't on the roster.

LE, RE, DT, Weakside LB, Middle LB, FS need replacements who aren't on the roster. Prince is injury prone. DRC is a warrior but I'd imagine he's going to start breaking down. The cupboard is bare beyond them.

Merriweather is no rookie......It's a matter of talent, or in the case of the Giants, lack thereof....there is not one good free safety on this team......we didn't get one in the offseason, or in the draft(and please, don't tell me Berhe or Thompson was the answer), to fill this roster...

It looks like Hosley was supposed to bump Jackson near/at the LOS, but instead, he gets a free release. I'm not saying Meriweather is without blame, but it's no coincidence that the Skins hit their lone big downfield pass THE SECOND Hosley entered the game in place of a starter.
