Is anyone else worried about Ereck Flowers?

JoeyBigBlue : 11/29/2015 5:42 pm
This was his 4th or 5th straight bad game. He seems to be regressing as the year has gone along. I was hoping this kid would be our franchise Left tackle but my expectations have declined a bit.
Flowers looked like Anthony Munoz

xompared to whatever Newhouse and Jerry did out there today.

He's the least of my worries

Did you think he was number 73 perhaps?
reese thinks he is a blue goose player
sundayatone : 11/29/2015 5:44 pm : link
so yes i am worried
Not even a little
Giantcol22 : 11/29/2015 5:44 pm : link
I think your confusing him with Newhouse.
It's a long season
Fish : 11/29/2015 5:44 pm : link
Especially for a rookie. I'm happy he is our LT for a long time.
I am worried that this coaching staff
EricJ : 11/29/2015 5:45 pm : link
has their hands on him. Player development it not one of our strengths.
No
Ginny Poo : 11/29/2015 5:45 pm : link
not at all.
He has not played well this year
robbieballs2003 : 11/29/2015 5:46 pm : link
but it is getting overlooked because of others on our OL. I will give him the benefit of the doubt since he is a rookie but lets not make him out to be a solution for LT for the next decade just yet.
I'm sure he just got the
SHO'NUFF : 11/29/2015 5:46 pm : link
proverbial rookie wall. Landon Collins, too.
Marshall Newhouse isn't an NFL starter
JoeyBigBlue : 11/29/2015 5:46 pm : link
No need to bring him into this thread. Flowers had struggled the last few games. He didn't play well today (the whole O-line didn't), he was bad against Chandler Jones, he also didnt play well against Tampa.
It takes an OL
rebel yell : 11/29/2015 5:47 pm : link
time to gel. This line keeps getting mixed up with all the injuries. Tough to get any consistency. Flowers will be a good one.
you would think a lineman
Enzo : 11/29/2015 5:48 pm : link
drafted that high would be better than what he has shown so far.
Flowers was the best one out there today.
Annunaki : 11/29/2015 5:48 pm : link
The rest of them could all disappear and nobody but their mothers would notice.
He
AcidTest : 11/29/2015 5:50 pm : link
hasn't played well recently, but has had a bum ankle, is playing LT, and is a twenty-one year old rookie.
I'd expect a bit of the rookie wall too.
K-Gun? Pop-Gun : 11/29/2015 5:51 pm : link
It's a long grind.
He will be a good olinemen for years to come.....
Simms11 : 11/29/2015 5:52 pm : link
He has the skills, right attitude and is physical. He needs to improve his technique and he will do that in time. He is not the issue right now. Newhouse had a terrible game. Skins also ran a number of stunts against this inexperienced line and that created havoc too. I think Reynolds did ok, however he didn't help on a few of those pressures off of stunts either. We need Pugh and Richburg back in a freakin hurry. Schwartz being out will not help the inexperienced line either.
An OLine is like a basketball team, 5 guys playing together.
CT Charlie : 11/29/2015 5:53 pm : link
Flowers would be an excellent rookie LT if he had 4 average or above-average guys playing next to him. And as a rookie RT - with 4 good guys alongside him - he might have been outstanding. He's 21 years old.
of course not
chris r : 11/29/2015 5:55 pm : link
he was a high pick!

But seriously, I'm not sure he's an LT - as most prognosticators were predicting.
Unless his footwork improves
old man : 11/29/2015 5:55 pm : link
Hes a great RT.
Bobby Hart at RG. makes a nice young right side.
I would worry more about who is replacing Schwartz.
joe48 : 11/29/2015 5:57 pm : link
Hopefully, he is cut.
He wasn't supposed to be our LT
Kuhn and Friends : 11/29/2015 6:01 pm : link
...he got thrown into the fire at that position. Not sure how one can be disappointed if he's not HOF caliber there just yet. If anything, I'm worried at how our veteran, SB MVP QB continues to look like a clueless rookie at times (and don't get me wrong, not bashing, I have the biggest man crush in the world on Eli) and even more so, I'm worried at how our coaching staff and FO continues to look even more like rookies given the performance of our overall product on the field. That's where you should be directing your frustration and bafflement towards.
He was always going to have his struggles this season.
Devon : 11/29/2015 6:12 pm : link
They just weren't supposed to mean as much as they're starting to, thanks to losing the entire interior of the OL and Newhouse being Newhouse and not Beatty.

Next year, if things don't improve, is when to worry.
Haha what?
B in ALB : 11/29/2015 6:14 pm : link
He's a 21 year old rookie playing arguably the second most difficult position on the field and you guys are bitching about him playing serviceable, sometimes excellent LT - and pretty much all penalty free - while fighting thru some ankle and lower body issues only missing a handful of snaps.

I really wonder sometimes if some fans actually have clue one of what they're watching or they just make shit up because they're idiots. Some of you guys out yourselves as completely clueless.
Not sure if they showed it on TV
Ben in Tampa : 11/29/2015 6:21 pm : link
But he was limping around pretty obviously early in the game. I don't think he's close to healthy.
What did you think of the rest of the OLine?
JohnB : 11/29/2015 6:23 pm : link
Flowers wasn't anywhere near as bad as the rest of the line.

Exactly. But I've stopped wasting my time with these guys. robbieballs has acted like Flowers stole his virginity this entire season. Every single week you can count on robbieballs destroying Flowers. Has he been perfect? Nope. But Robbie acts like he's beaten like a drum on every single play. It's out of control. If there is a thread on an offensive lineman, any offensive lineman, Robbie will be sure to stop by to shit on Flowers.
I trust B in ALB
Larry in Pencilvania : 11/29/2015 6:31 pm : link
from the games I have seen he has done well for a rookie. he sometimes gets himself beat and will hold like crazy but I see a guy who knowingly needed technique work playing a very difficult position. Some of you lack the patience needed to allow him to grow. Walter Jones he will not be in one season. add to it the line is in flux due to talent or injuries and it will effect his play.

also this isn't the 75-Steelers you're watching so lighten the Fuck up

+1

He's the least of our worries. Sure he's hit a wall, but we have guys who should be changing tires as starting lineman and we're starting threads about Flowers? I feel pretty damn good about him moving forward.
serviceable?
Enzo : 11/29/2015 6:33 pm : link
yeah, that's being kind.

He's regressed since the beginning of the season. I'm not expecting him to be Jonathan Ogden, but I do look for improvement with game experience. I don't know if it's because of injury, him hitting a rookie wall, or team's having tape on him, but it's worrisome.
he's a rookie
bc4life : 11/29/2015 7:52 pm : link
and teams have more film to watch of him. unless you know he won't get better, you shouldn't be worrying
No in the least
Matt M. : 11/29/2015 8:55 pm : link
He has had lapses in several games. But, overall, I think he is playing a decent LT, especially for a rookie. Most of the pressure today didn't come from his man, so I'm not sure about the complaints.
thank you

But you are wasting your time...they have an agenda of unhappiness they need to foist on to us.
