When can I start being scared of the Jets?

Drewcon40 : 11/29/2015 5:57 pm
For those who know me on the board, I live in the middle of Jet-centric, Jet Nation. Where the world revolves around them. Is there any hope? Any shot we can get the W. I don't want to thump my chest or talk smack but when the jets beat the Giants, it's going to be tough to hear this. Is there another Christmas Eve 2011 miracle? How will we match up with them? I didn't watch their game due to the conflict but I heard they looked excellent. If the Giants go 6-10, just make this the win. Dave in Hoboken and others who have been letting me rant about the Jets - I need you this week. And for Jets trolls who read the board, I'm respecting your team which is why I fear them.
The Jets have a really tough D Line

If we don't get Pugh and Richburg back, we're in a for long afternoon next Saturday.
Excellent point Joey...

....I don't wish injury on any players but we have to face a healthy Mangold and Revis. While we will not have Pugh, Schwartz, Richburg, DRC to start the game.
I was concerned before today

If we play like we did today

and play with the discipline we showed when we played the Pats, we'll be fine. If not, it'll be Friday the 13th for you.
Let's put it this way,

if we don't win that game, we're essentially done, with games against Vikes and Carolina still to play, let alone an Eagles team that we can't get by. Miami will also probably give us a game in Miami, however, it may be the only real winnable game left on our schedule! Almost every game from here on out is a must win, but it has to start this week. Jets have a pretty good D, but Eli can help getting the ball out quicker. Tannehill threw for over 350 yards against them and he's no Eli. Leo keep in mind this is a home game and we've been playing much better in our home games. We have to get to Fitzpatrick and then he will look ordinary. Problem is we have not gotten much pressure at all, but Spags has to dial up more blitzes because he is an experienced guy that will find his targets and they have good receivers too. I'm not scared of the Jets. We have to play with reckless abandon and come to play down after down.
Is there any shot? Of course.

if we get Pugh and Richburg back, I think we're favorites.
We have to be scared of every team

for the rest of the season. The one positive is that as good as their DL is, they don't have a lot of sacks.

I'll say this again, the team to fear is the Giants themselves. We can beat anybody if we stop the mistakes and breakdowns. Simple things like miscommunication between Eli and his receivers, clock management, stupid penalties and a continued belief that Landon Collins can cover a TE without any help.

We are perfectly suited to beat the Jets. Ever since the Pats game, when Brady threw 50+ times against them, that has been the blueprint on how to beat the Jets. Revis island is proof of global warming and rising ocean levels in it's diminishing surface area. Cromartie is a 15 yard gain waiting to happen. We throw short, we throw often and if we can get a little enthusiasm out of Rueben Randle we should be able to move the ball.

The Jets have their own O line troubles, they would like to run and control the clock, we won't let them do that. Marshall and Decker are going to get theirs but if we keep those two out of the end zone we should be able to beat them easily. Then again, we should have beaten 4 of the 6 teams we lost to.
In typical Giants' style, we may keep the Jets in the game but I certainly don't fear Fitzpatrick or expect to run much into that D line. The secondary is overrated and should be torched often.
We need Pugh & Richburg back

If not, the Jets DL will have a field day.
Talking to an old Jets friend..

...I think we are trying to out reverse jinx each other but his view from the other side is that he is not happy with the coach. He thinks Bowles is not very smart and Coughlin and his staff are an advantage over Bowels and Gailey.

He thinks Miami is just a very bad football team and indicated that in the first half, Miami's first four or five drives started at the 40 or better. If Eli and the Giants offense had that field position, the Jets would be in trouble.

He points out that T.J. Yates and DeAndre Hopkins beat the Jets with Revis and Eli Manning with Odell Beckhmam would be even scarier.

He said he is impressed with the Giants defense without the big names. While the Jets with a big lead allowed a Miami team to score on them, he actually said that the Giants on the road didn't give up and made it a close game.

He thinks the Jets winning this game, and the media is going to be all over them, makes him nervous as the Jets have a history of not showing up in these games.

I brought up the banged up o-line and said Schwartz is out and Richburg and Pugh are likely out, the Jets D-line is going to crush us. He actually said as a Jets fan, he thinks that the D-Line is overrated. He said they are slow, the need a player like Tuck or Umineyora in their prime.
Decker, Marshall and Ivory

are serious weapons -- and Fitz has been a moderately successful QB this season -- they have a very strong DLine and great CBs we don't match up well with their strengths right now
The Giants are going to get rolled on Sunday

if they don't get any reinforcements on the O-line.

Their great corners have not played great this season. Revis has been ok, not great, and Cromartie has had a rough year.
