Giants-Redskins Post-Game Reaction for TC and Players

FYI.
Washington Redskins 20 – New York Giants 14 - ( New Window )
Holy fuck...33 rushing yards against the 30th ranked run defense?

This team doesn't deserve us.
I haven't been ready to blow it all up
JFIB : 11/29/2015 6:30 pm : link
Before today but I am now. This team is failing on all fronts and has been for the last 4 years. The talent is really, really sub par at so many positions. Worst D-line in the NFL hands down. This FO hasn't spent a high pick or any significant resources on the LB position in years and it shows. Yes we have a few nice players there but no difference makers. Safety? Again very little talent. Collins has some real promise as an in the box safety but absolutely nothing behind him. Corners are pretty average in my opinion and this FO hasn't hit upon a draft pick after the 2nd or 3rd round (Kennard the xception) in a very long time.

Offense shows more poor drafting in the later rounds as we can't bring a lineman off the bench and have him perform even adequately.

I blame coaching just as much. I think the coaching is stale. Macadoo is really nothing special and Spags has been an improvement and yes, working with very little talent but I still see the same mistakes being made year after year. I am ready to blow it up. Right or wrong I would like to start from scratch.

I'm still not ready to blow it up, but I am more ready than I was a month ago. Lets say I could see an argument for it.

The question I have is, if you blow it up now, can the Giants jump right into being contenders in the NFC east? I think yes, because:

Eli is still Eli
Beckham is still Beckham
The good players on the OL are still young and under contract
DRC, Collins, and most likely Prince are part of the secondary

My only concern is, what system are we going to make Eli adapt to now? I'm sure he can learn anything, but can we please keep it QB friendly. If things are blown up, I hope Mara places a priority on hiring someone who showcases Eli and OBJ on offense, and has a system designed to do that.

Not that I want to see Todd Haley as a Giants HC, but I like what he does with the Steeler offense.

I'm taking everything as a whole. I really, was interested how they react to this game in spite of the injuries. A loss where they were competitive throughout, with limited mistakes in the pivotal games, I would've accepted moreso. instead, another flop in performance again in big spot since 2012.

However, with these mental errors (play clock running out, too many on field costing to burn a TO - which has been going on for too long) clock management (not this game but early in season costing a game or two) and etc etc has gone on far too long to keep coming up. records vs div opponents (ie 6-12 including playoffs vs eagles since 2007.etc etc). It's the whole picture since 2012.

why not save your whining and energy for something that is a bit more surprising?

Like our game plan being way to conservative and playing into the Redskins hands until the last 20 minutes of the game
Pretty amazing that this team could view any game

(especially a Road game) as not taking the opponent 100% serious. Sure, the Redskins were 4-6 before today's game. But it's not like the Giants marched into Washington as some juggernaut. They were a fucking .500 team this morning. LOL at taking any team, especially on the road, lightly, when you youself are .500. Ridiculous.

We consistently play like crap after the bye week. Not sure I expected different. I was hoping that since they were in the thick of the race for the division they wouldn't come out flat. But we really shouldn't expect anything different.

Disappointing they could even think to take any other team for granted . . .

this is truly disgusting and this game is nauseating. Somehow not the ugliest loss we've had but to play the game we witnessed today with such a massive shift in the way the season plays out based on the result, is so disturbing and abysmal and embarrassing. I have to believe Mara is feeling more angry and more embarrassed than anyone. I know it's just fanspeak and no one owes anyone anything but its just unacceptable to have this game and now the game next week becomes a possible "one of the worst games in Giants history" when we play the Jets for our lives. That team will be salivating and play their asses off. This is their Super Bowl. And yet it could have been the complete opposite with a win today.
Yeah, we'll hear all the canned statements.
Gman11 : 11/29/2015 8:50 pm : link
Division games are tough, we didn't didn't do this, the other team did that, yadda, yadda yadda.

The thing is, when they needed an important win over a middling team they came up small against the Eagles and Redskins. No matter what happens this season, this team doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs.

How many times have we seen this team not show up for games? How many times have we seen them play down to the other team's level.....this team week after week shoots itself in the foot....3 int's....DRC dropping a pick 6....when DRC went out, did anyone besides Hosley and Merriweather think Jackson was going long? When Tye is your second leading receiver, there is something very wrong....

Some more OBJ quotes I like.

“I’m going to come into work tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and for the rest of the week and this year and give it my all. Each and every single day. There is no time to slack off or to do anything like that — it’s actually time to take it to another notch.

“We will be on track.’’

Asked about the Superman grab, Beckham said, “It really doesn’t matter man. You get 60 minutes to play and we came out flat. Too many mistakes.’’
" You get 60 minutes to play and we came out flat. "

I mean the last time the Giants had a great team, and by "great" I mean as fans you go into each game expecting to win. The last time a team like that existed was in 2008. The running game was unreal, Eli protected the ball, and the D was stifling. Would have been the first NYG team to win B-2-B Super Bowls had Plaxico not been a d-bag.

But since that year and the Plaxico incident, each year has been mostly the same. In the earlier years the Giants would start out hot - 6-2 or 7-3 to blow it in the final 8 games. Recently, we start out 0-6, 3-6, whatever, this year a pedestrian 5-5, and struggle to stay above .500.

As long as the same stakeholders are in place (Reese, Coughlin, etc), do not expect anything to change significantly for the better. It's sad too because they make you WANT to believe. They hang on just long enough to make each year painful to swallow.

This year alone the four heartbreaking losses make you want to crawl into a hot shower, get in the fetal position, and sob for hours. I think after today I'm finally resigning myself to an overhaul from top to bottom. I never believed in it before today . . . but I've seen this type of performance too many times to just accept it anymore.

We played this game against a decent defensive front, with both of our starting Guards and our starting center out. And we still almost pulled it out. If Eli doesn't throw that fucking pick at the end of the first half we win the game.

OK this team is a bit maddening... still, 3 of our starting OL out. That's a huge thing to overcome against a team that wants to kick our asses in their house.

its truly fascinating that you take this in the opposite way that makes sense. I would see this as players saying they didn't have a full team of 100% focused and ready participants. Not that the coaches didn't have a game plan ready to prevent "flatness".

Vereen, Eli, Randle big mistakes to cost Giants the chance at the game.

Sorry but good teams make it happen. The Patriots do it, why can't the Giants? We have a Super Bowl head coach and QB too. Find a way. If you can take a team down to the wire, then you close it out. They haven't done that practically at all, the entire season.
Please stop comparing the Giants to the Patriots.

And your point is directed at the players, or coaching staff?

To me...the coach can only present what's on the table. The players have to go out and get it.

If they were flat, it's on the players. The game was basically for the division.
It's on everyone. The situation was obvious all week.
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/30/2015 10:29 am : link
The coach is as much to blame as the players. The whole operation failed. The coach is responsible for the results of the players on his roster.

Thegratefulhead : 11/30/2015 10:58 am : link
It is not time to fire everyone. I have known since the offseason that this was a mediocre team. How did you not know, how did you not prepare yourself for this? it is not very talented roster and it lacks depth. They were going to need to stay healthy to have any shot. They have not stayed healthy. I was extremely worried about this game and when it opened with two interceptions that should have been receptions, it was the Eagle game all over again. Is what it is. The reason we are still in the hunt for the division is TC, Eli and OBjr.
I love the whole "staff must go" crowd.
Beezer : 11/30/2015 11:35 am : link

Might want to rewind and get a look at the entire right side of our O line (including center AND TE). Holy hell.

Then remember DRC went down. Merriweather was a last-minute throw-in ... you've had Prince out for a while ... Craig Dahl, Trevin Wade, Jerome Cunningham, Myles White logging considerable minutes ... now Hakeem Nicks is in there ...

That this team is tied for first, scrubby as it is, is certainly no indictment on the coaching staff.
Randle clearly hobbled and not where he was ...
Beezer : 11/30/2015 11:40 am : link
Donnell out ... missing JPP for a long stretch ... we added Hughes recently ... no Beatty ... Damontre Moore third on the depth chart with his head shoved CLEAR UP HIS ASS ...

have done their best to lay the division at the Giants' feet and the Giants just don't want it. Not being able to win this awful division is a joke, especially for a supposed future HOF head coach and QB. We didn't play some great team yesterday. We're not in a good division. Shit like this shouldn't be happening so often. The constant stupid mistakes; penalties, dropped passes, dropped INTs, "coming out flat" in a game that we had 2 weeks to prepare and was for all intents and purposes for the division.
