The difference was Pugh and Richburg.

CT Charlie : 11/29/2015 7:53 pm
With them, our run game would have been marginally better, and on passing plays Eli would have had an extra 1-2 seconds in the pocket, more than enough time for all of our guys - OBJ, RR, Harris, Tye, Cunningham, Vereen - to get more separation. We could have kept Washington off-balance with screen passes.

The D would have had more rest (we got crushed in time of possession, 36:00 to 24:00), and we would have sacked Cousins a couple of times.

Analysis.
TOP was brutal.
Agreed...
jogo1 : 11/29/2015 7:56 pm : link
though I don't think there was much of a difference in the running game. Where it hurt was the passing game--no time for routes to develop, and no intermediate passes. The offense was reminiscent of 2013.
yeah
EVERY4YEARS : 11/29/2015 7:56 pm : link
but none of that happened

I was waiting for us to get at least on INT or Fumble recovery
They protected the ball well
Of the guys we have left

Manning, Beckham, DRC, Richburg and Pugh are the most important. Losing those two linemen and then DRC was tough to overcome, no doubt.
We only ran 13 times and so a run game could

not really be established anyway. We were running the ball ok. I think we were getting like 4 yards a clip initially. Randles lazy route running and lack of desire to go get the ball to me was a bigger issue. The DRC dropped INT, that looked to be 6, was an issue, no receiver getting separation was an issue. Eli still threw for over 300 yards and 2 TDs. Yea there were circumstances where the Oline didn't do the job, but considering the line had 3 new starters, to include a a rookie, they probably did ok.
marginally better..
EricJ : 11/29/2015 8:05 pm : link
either way, even with all of our guys up front healthy. We still have a sub par O-line
If they can't come back and play at the level they were, it's going to
Devon : 11/29/2015 8:05 pm : link
be the ultimate test of invincibility for Eli with the Jets, Suh, Carolina, Minnesota, and the Eagles (who even if they can't blow up any other OL seem to always blow up ours) on deck.
I agree

But its hard to overstate the impact of the early picks. Playing on the road and the crowd is fired up, you never really get in rhythm and lose confidence
Don't
AcidTest : 11/29/2015 8:13 pm : link
agree. We lost because of the INTs, a dropped pick six, and bad clock management and play calling.
yes it was the difference... but the coaching staff

new this...
so if you have a bad OL entering the game... doesn't it make sense to be less predictable?... to REALLY emphasize your short passing game in early downs... to spread them out more? but nope... we made sure AW44 got his carries... nobody new a run was coming there... got into a ton of 2nd and 9s... and remained entirely passive and predictable... playing RIGHT into the Redskins hands... until the last 20 minutes... when we got a bit more creative.
Very disappointing attempt to cover up an undermanned OL... sorry basically no attempt
DRC was banged up
mattlawson : 11/29/2015 8:27 pm : link
Surprised he was still in the game at one point. He visibly and very slowly limped down the field and then was supposed to cover Jackson? Yeah right... Had cousins seen that it would have been another TD
Team was not ready to play on Offense
shabu : 11/29/2015 8:31 pm : link
Eli threw a horrible ball on the pick to Harris. almost lucked out.

Vereen drops a ball into arms of defender for pick 2.

Randle gets lazy and doesn't cut off the defender to get the pass and we have pic 3. and that could have been a TD.

WHat pisses me off ? How the hell do you not come ready to play this BIG game so important blah blah after 2 weeks to prepare and we get that ? as fans ?

I blame coughlin for not having these guys focused... how the hell do we do this all the time ?

Playing to level of competition.
Knowing this...
Strip-Sack : 11/29/2015 8:44 pm : link
Why run Andre Williams into the middle of the Oline TWICE when you're backed up at the 5??? He's by far the least explosive to and through the line...made no sense at all, think it was their 2nd or third drive.
This post is true

W Pugh and richburg Eli would have had a field day

It's a game of inches and angles and timing and it wasn't flowing for the overwhelming majority of the game
Yup
Les in TO : 11/29/2015 8:59 pm : link
Pugh rich burg and Schwartz were a strength for the Giants this year and just like that they're all out. We need them back next week
This is why I'm not as steamed up as most are here.

I'm not saying I don't get why people are furious. I am definitely not happy... but if you include Beatty, we were playing with 4/5s of our offensive line out today, with a rookie being the only starter.

We need to get Pugh and Richburg healthy, but I think the team had a gutty effort today, particularly in the 4th quarter, considering how banged up our OL was.
