The talent on the field today...

Danny Kanell : 11/29/2015 8:53 pm
Looking at the talent on the field today that got significant snaps was goddamn depressing:

RB: Jennings, Williams
WR: Randle, Miles White, Nicks
TE: Jerome Cunningham, Tye
OL: Jerry, Newhouse, Reynolds, Hart
DL: Kuhn, Bromley
LB: Brinkley, Casillas
CB: Hosley, Wade
S: Merriweather, Dahl

That's 18 players getting significant snaps that are borderline practice squad players at worst, backup players at best.

We had Eli, OBJ, Vereen, Harris, JPP, Ayers, Kennard, Collins, Prince and DRC as players capable of playing average - above average NFL football.

With that collection of talent, a lot of it we are stuck with for the remainder of the season, what can we realistically expect? This roster is a fucking mess and add in another awful season of injuries, how the hell can we compete? It's the same fucking story every season.

Great, or even good players, no.
But not practice squad.

I don't think Kuhn, Hosley, some of those OL, Cunningham and White are active nfl roster worthy talent. Just my opinion.

First of all define significant snaps
Matt M. : 11/29/2015 9:09 pm : link
I don't recall Williams or White getting significant snaps. Second of all, these are not all practice squad players. Merriweather is having a decent season, for example. He is, however, asked to play a position he is not suited for. This team has no FS on the roster.
Merriweather has..

arguably been our best S this year and Brinkley and Casillas have been solid.

Jennings takes a lot of shit, but he's a reliable back.

But regardless of this, you can make similar lists for nearly every team in the NFL.

I didn't say they're all practice squad players.

The talent on offense is the reason why we are where we are. This offense should be much, much better with a top QB and a top WR.
I agree with your overall assessment
Mike in Long Beach : 11/29/2015 9:16 pm : link
But I do think Pugh and Richburg's health pretty much will make our break where this season goes. We've proven all year long we're capable of winning football games without a pass rush... now obviously we aren't going anywhere in the postseason (if we get there) without a pass rush, but I do think we can still take the division even if JPP doesn't improve all that much.

But the offensive line has been no worse than average in most games this year. Today we saw how bad it can get if those 2 guys don't get healthy. Everything else can stay as is and we can win the division. We can not compete if we can't protect the quarterback or run the football.

You are apparently clueless that Chris Mara has an excellent football resume... keep telling yourself that he is just some guy that got a job because his last name is Mara

This is Mara’s second tour of duty with the franchise. He joined the Giants staff prior to the 1979 season and over the next 14 years was a member of the club’s player personnel department. Mara was a scout during the franchise’s first two Super Bowl Championship seasons in 1986 and 1990.

Following his first stint with the Giants, Mara spent eight years (1994-2001) operating ProRate, Inc., an independent football scouting service contracted by as many as 15 NFL franchises. The service provided an evaluation of the free agent market in the NFL.

The man has a solid football resume...
Don't give me that talent bullshit

You got teams out there like the Colts with less talent and without their QB winning games.

Its just time for this team to move on from this HC and his staff

The staff isn't going anywhere, like it or not. No one is going anywhere. That's just the realty, right or wrong.
The Giants fielded the 2 most talented players
Chris684 : 11/29/2015 9:59 pm : link
On the field today in Eli and OBJ, the talent/injury excuse is really losing steam.

Look at the Colts without Luck, look at the Pats, how about the Broncos go into to Chicago and win last week with Osweiler.

Sure the o-line was banged up but you are never going to keep all 22 starters out there for a full season.

We shit the bed today.

Game was lost this way.

1. Vereeen drops a pass

2. Eli throws dumb ass ball to harris ( we almost got lucky and no INT ).

3. RR drifts off in end zone and there goes 6 and an INT.

Defense was fine, take back one of those turnovers and we likely win the game.

It was terrible display of undisciplined and dumb ass football basically. Most important game of season and to come out flat ? I just think they overlooked Washington and didn't take things seriously enough..

Don't forget DRC dropping a pick 6.
