Whoever is responsible for Hosely (still) being on this team

NYGmen58 : 11/29/2015 9:42 pm
should be dragged out of the Giants facility in a straight jacket tomorrow morning.

You have to be clinically (if not criminally) sick to have this guy as your 5th or 6th corner, let alone on the field playing meaningful snaps on defense.

The guy is slow as molasses, cant cover or tackle anyone, and never makes a play on the ball. He can't even get in position to commit a penalty because he gets burned so badly.

Does anyone know who within Giants walls continues to protect/support/defend/promote this guy???

and the DB coach probably thought he could be a reclamation project given his lofty draft status.

I dunno... This one is kinda on point. I mean as soon as he is on the field other teams go right at him. He didnt cover Jackson for more than two yards on the TD.
Bitching about any 5th or 6th CB..

You're completely lost FatMan. The whole point is he isn't the 5th or 6th CB. He has been starting and was the first guy in to replace both Prince and DRC and been horrible.
The problem is
NewBlue : 11/29/2015 9:53 pm : link
That very few players who have been around for several years seem to raise their level of play.
Hosley.....Bromley....Herzlich......McBride....Wynn.

We need someone to step up their game.

It seems that more guys regress, than improve
He was starting because..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/29/2015 9:58 pm : link
the guys in front of him have been hurt.

He was only in for DRC because he was hurt.

He is a reserve CB. I think he's a bad player, but most 5th CB's are bad players, hence, why they are 5th CB's.

has never been their 5th CB??

So, when they had Thurmond, Bowman and Jackson, Hosely was in front of them?

Save it with the "always wrong" shit.

Why don't you start another thread listing nearly every player on the team calling them subs and practice squad guys.

Better yet, do it for the other 32 teams and see exactly how much you know about the rest of the league.

Sadly I pay attention to your posts a lot because you're always inciting arguments on threads. You're almost always wrong, like you were here. Hosely is our #3 CB. Has been all season. Just do us a favor and stick occupying the trolls for us on game threads. That's the only "value" you bring here.

The Jackson TD
Samiam : 11/29/2015 10:13 pm : link
Was more on Merriweather than Holsey. And, even if it was Holsey, how many sub CBs can run with Jackson when there's no pass rush. I'm not sure how many starting CBs can run with Jackson. The biggest problem with the secondary is the lack of a pass rush. Put in a decent pass rush and the DBs look much better.

I don't know who you are addressing but you're proving my point and making a fool of yourself in the process. Yes, last year he was their 6th CB, in fact he was so bad that they didn't even dress him during the 2nd half I feel the season and even after the CBs were ravaged with injuries, guys literally signed off the street (Harris, Brown, etc.) were playing in front of him. Fast forward to 2015 and not only is Hosely invited back to training camp AND makes the 53 man roster despite being outplayed by others but he is inexplicably playing (at times starting!) during inportant games and costing them dearly in each of them!

It's unbelievable, unprecedented, quite frankly unheard of.

Hosely has never been our 5th CB. That's cherry picking. For most of his career here, he's been way down the depth chart. He's only higher this year because of the injuries.

But hey, we lost today so why don't you pull the usual "the organization and everything about it sucks" schtick.
I don't care who was covering Jackson.
Boy Cord : 11/29/2015 10:19 pm : link
All I know is this was the first play after DRC was injured and everyone knew that play was coming. The defense should have been drawn up in the sand: Do not let Fucking Desean Jackson get behind you!!! I don't care if it took two guys. That was the most obvious play call I have ever seen.

My God, you're stupid. I wasn't cherry picking, I was attacking your post that hes a 5th or 6th corner. He hasn't been a 5th or 6th corner this entire season. That's not cherry picking. Cherry picking is picking one guy (Wynn) out of a bunch mentioned that have been here a while.

You fucking dolt.

suck. Except when they cover rueben Randle!

And coming in it was a longshot he was going to make the team. But injuries to a few guys. McBride and Wade turning into nickel corners gave him a spot on the team.

My point..
FatMan in Charlotte : 11/29/2015 10:30 pm : link
is that a thread like this started to indict somebody because Hosely is on the team is pure bullshit.

It was stated above that Hosely has started this year and has cost us in every game. Pure hyperbole.

My point is that bitching about a reserve player is a low bar for analysis.

Kannell, you knew that. But as usual, you just take a potshot because you'd rather join the group on Sunday nights that has all the fucking answers on why we are a mediocre team and revel in the bitch and whine fest.

So BA HA HA all night, because that's apparently what you fucking do when the team loses.
the big issues with that play
hitdog42 : 11/29/2015 10:32 pm : link
were the safety... and the pass rush.
at no time is any DB in the entire NFL covering DJ deep alone... and while he did quite poor... he is #3 on the pecking order in terms of blame on that play.

when having to play the role he is capable of.... 3rd or 4th DB... he has been serviceable.

Of course it was. He was deep safety who had over the top help. Doesnt excuse Hosley from his shitty play, but there is a reason why players have help.

Funny coming from the king of potshots on here. You embarrassed yourself on this thread. I'm bowing out. Arguing, then having to define terms to you on top of that has been exhausting.

Exactly...it's amazing how good the coverage looked on the few drives where we blitzed and got to Cousins.

Never had an exchange with you, its football - not a serious thing. So I'm really coming at this with genuine curiosity.

Hosley has been lower on our depth chart, but this year, he's #3 and not because of injuries. He was in because of injuries on that specific play, but he's still our #3 cb.

We need an upgrade at CB (not our top 2, obviously). The league has changed, as I doubt anyone would argue, and you simply need more than 2 good cbs. I mean, our depth chart at CB is awful and Prince tends to have some injuries throughout a season. There are a few positions on this team where the lack of depth is extremely apparent. And you have to expect that they are going to see the field. Granted, that's what separates a great team from a middle of the pack team, which we are. This is an 8-8 team. As most things in life, things aren't as bad as they seem and they're never as good as they seem! :) For what its worth - 8 and 8 might get us into the post season and then the Super Bowl is up for grabs, as it is every year!

However (and this is somewhat irrelevant to the point that the OP is trying to make), a pass rush changes how our corners look. But Hosley as our number 3, Oy!
100% correct ....
Manny in CA : 11/29/2015 11:29 pm : link
Hosley was beaten by 10 yards when Jackson & Hosely ran past Merriweather ...

It was like watching a commuter train go by and going - "oh well, look at that, hope our guy catches up ! "

Hard to believe you are stupid enough to believe the coaches don't make the cut-down and playing decisions.

Hosley came to camp on the bubble, not e expected to make the team. Spags identified him as a talent worthy of reclamation. Hosley took the opportunity and worked his way into the 53. Against all odds he won the job.

The fact that he got beat for a touchdown pass doesn't change the fact that the coaches opinion is that he won the job based on merit.
