My wife who is a Giant fan by marriage asked me a question yesterday that I really cannot answer.
After I told her that Schwartz was out with broken leg and that DRC just sat down with a foot injury of some sort, she asked the following question.
What kind of job does the Giant training/medical staff do for the team? Do we have more injuries than most and would a different training regimen be better? Are other teams doing a better job on keeping their players on the field?
Just asking :)
A: Well, it’s not us, it looks like us because you guys cover us. Go around the league, the only team that’s really looked like they’re healthy to me is the Bengals. The Bengals are a pretty healthy team. But you can go around the National Football League, the team we played last night, they’re beat up, too. So you’ve got to play the hand your dealt. The young players you have on your team, they have to step up and play and you have to get them ready. That’s just the way it is, everybody has injuries, that’s not an excuse.

According to Football Outsiders’ Adjusted Games Lost (AGL) metric, the Giants have been one of the least fortunate teams in terms of being affected by injuries. Their AGL rankings for the Giants for the last five years:
2010: 22nd
2011: 26th
2012: 25th
2013: 32nd
2014: 32nd
As Football Outsiders notes, “This is the fifth year in a row the Giants ranked 22nd or worse, and they have missed the playoffs in four of those seasons… Then we have the Giants, looking to put together an injury dynasty. After setting the benchmark with 141.3 AGL in 2013, the 2014 club has the second-worst AGL on record at 137.1.”
I don't think we have have the details to accurately answer this question - it is frustrating to be high up on the league's injury list every year, though.
Typical HH response... LOL though...
A: Yeah, we bring guys in and we look at their injury history. We’ve had guys who have never had an injury, we bring them in here and they’ve gotten hurt. Then you bring some guys who have some injury history and they get here and never have a problem. That’s just the way it is in the National Football League, it’s a contact sport, it’s a physical game and injuries happen.
Headhunter, did you spend a long time thinking of this response or do you have more of these idiotic comments available?

I'm assuming this doesn't count Beason!

I agree with you 100% on the fractures, but it's hard to overlook the number of games missed by players who have suffered new injuries while rehabbing old ones.

When people around here lose their sense of humor it's gets uglier than yesterday's game.
